we have a VERY THICK population if does here, around a 6:1/5:1 doe:buck ratio. I kill about 2-3 each season. They sure taste good.

Just about 50, give er take a little.

Shew, I sound like a pig..haha Fall and Winter is usually the only time I eat much. I never have much of an appitite during spring and summer. To hot I guess.

What does everybody pack for their deer hunts to keep themself fed wether it's just a morning hunt or an all day hunt? If I'm just hunting morning-noon I'll eat a poptart before I leave and pack a bottle of water with a packet of kool-aide mix and either a PB&J or bologna sandwhich with a candy bar. If it's a morning-evening all day hunt I'll eat that morning and pack 2 sandwhiches either PB&J or bologna sandwhiches. 2 bottles of water and 2 kool-aide packet mixes, couple candy bars and sometimes a can of beenie weanies. That usually holds me untill I kill something or go home and eat a good meal.

I have a quick question but I don't want to hi-jack the post, I see that alot of people take their quiver off when hunting, Why is that? reduce vibration/noise after the shot or make the bow lighter? Sorry for the off-topic question. I may have to start taking mine off now.

I've never missed with a bow...but then again I've only shot at 2 deer....haha I will end up missing alot though I garuntee. I've missed more than a couple with the rifle though. One was even 15 yards away staring at me broadside. I have no idea how I missed but somehow I did. Luckily it ran about 100 yards and stopped and I didn't miss that time. I'm sure I'll miss many more times.

The ply wood floor has a coat of white paint on it, I have no idea why it does though? I also am going to put some "grit" stuff cause when wet the ply wood can be slick. And thanks for the tip about the stain or paint I'll keep that in mind.

I got the lumber for free that they used on building our new deck, the left overs which they said I could keep. I'm gettin a summit Ultra also. I just like to have some stuff to keep me busy during the off season and I like to do it myself alot. Trust me though it really is stout, and it isnt very high off the ground.

The deer come out in the field and pick almost every evening and then sometimes they'll come from behind me on that big "hill" and pick on the top or down in that holler bottom. The very top shooting rail is only about 8ft. off the ground. But trust me it's very sturdy, except the floor kind of rotted out but I got some new treated wood for support beams and some new plywood for the floor. Just gotta cut a few limbs out and rebuild it I guess.

Here's some pics of one of my favorite places to hunt. A few deer have ate their last bite in this area including a big 7 my brother shot and a nice 8 my buddy shot, I've always just ended up not being their at the right time I guess..lol Good stand for rifle/muzzleloading/bow. Here's some pics of the stand. (Stand is in the far right mess of trees) (what a few seasons of rough weather will do to fo the poor stand) (straight in front) (little to the left) (furthest to the left) (behind me) (little further behind me) and of course a personalized seat :hammer1: I've gotta put a new floor in it, new burlap, a new back wall on it, another supprot beam underneath, and 2 new shootin rails. I'll put up pictures of it when I get done with it. But as the location looks, what do ya'll think of the stand?

Ours opens near the beginning in Sept. but I usually wait for it to cool off a tiny bit and a few leaves to fall. I use a 12 gauge or 4-10 usually, but occasionly I'll take a .22.

Looking at a nice climber stand to buy and have narrowed it down to these two stands. The Summit Viper SS and the Summit Viper Ultra. The two stands are almost identical and I cant seem to tell what the diffrences are. The SS is $279 but the Ultra is $249 and looks like everything is the same except the Ultra has a footrest bar. Is their something I'm missing here, or just which would ya'll suggest? Viper Ultra Viper SS

I was just jokin when I said that, I'm sure it would prolly make the hair stand up on me a little. If I tried that the electricity would be the least on my mind, The neighbor across the hill would have the law up here and him trying to get me arrested. He even blows the horn at me to scare the deer if I'm watchin them through a rifle scope or pair of binos, he just can't stand that I have fun. Just an old nosey SOB..haha I've told him hes #1 plenty though.

Great shootin! Looks like the V-max's are doin the trick!

Sounds like you are a die hard hound hunter! I'm very sorry you aren't able to coon hunt anymore, I'm sure it was tough after all those years of it.

I use Winchester Triple 7 primers in my TC. Haven't had a problem out of them.

I was not bashing by saying "scent freaks" I think it's a good thing to be one. But I don't have alot of money to buy all these high-tech sprays and soaps and scent killing stuff. Virginia's deer don't compare to Illiones, Kansas, Iowa, Missourie, ect.. either but I understand what your getting at. And yes, I have a very small buck in my avatar.

WOW, Those are monsters!

How do ya'll go about your way with managing your scent or do you even bother. And if you do how extreme or important is it to you? Me, I don't go to big extremes with my scent control. When I get out of the truck to go to my stand I usually will spray my boots with deer pee or some Tinx 69 and myself with some scent-blocker. I usually take a good shower with low-scent soap and put on light-scented deoderant. I just keep my hunting clothes hung up somewhere not stored in scent proof boxes. I also try and keep the wind in my favor but if it goes the other way I don't get all worried about it. I sometimes stick some cedar branches in my pack to get that stuff smelling natural, and thats about it.

Favorite Muzzleloader Bullet for Whitetails?
HunterLuke replied to Double Drops's topic in Bluelk's Muzzleloader Room
I'm not very experianced but for me a T/C 200grain Shockwave spire point with 2 pellets,100 grains, behind it. The deer don't run, they flop.
