  1. The last fur sale around here last season You would have been lucky to get $75 for a nice bobcat pelt. Fur prices have went straight down with the economy. It's sad to see a $150 bobcat pelt go for $50-.
  2. If the bear clawed the tree, does that mean hes in the area? Is it kind of like a buck will make scrapes and rubs to mark his territory, is this what the bear is doing, marking his territory?
  3. I live about 30-45 minutes from Bristol and about 30 from Abingdon.
  4. I have a walk behind tiller we use in the garden, just be a pain gettin it up to it but it may be worth it.
  5. My dad is a lineman and he says the animals he hates most is black bears and woodpeckers..haha says they'll ruin everypole out there. I haven't yet showed him the picture yet to see what he says though.
  6. Bear is kinda of what I was thinkin when I 1st saw it also, But I wasn't to sure as I don't know squat about bears.
  7. I would have to have a helicopter fly in and out a tractor..lol No way I could even get a 4-wheeler to it it's so thick.
  8. There is bear around here but I've only heard of one person saying they saw something like one on the farms. Naww I never did think of looking for hair, It'll be something for me to do tommorrow though! lol
  9. I went to this power line cut out that some gusy on here thought looked good for deer hunting today and scouted around some. I found some deer crap..lol, last years rubs, tree tracks and 4 trails leading into the small 20x50 yard open area. Heres some pictures of it, so tell me what ya'll think of it now, worth setting up or a waste of time? When/If I hunt it I will be sittin at the two power poles at the top of the ridge right there, a 150 yard shot from there to where I'm standing, which will be a piece if cake with the .243 and muzzleloader. Heres the area and what the sides of it look like(Big cedar/hardwood thickets to the side and cedars down below) Here are the 4 deer trails that lead into the open spot(I guess its "kinda" like a funnel spot) (^ that one is kind of hard to see come sin from far right and goes between the 2 trees) Here are the 6 last year rubs I found all in within 30 yards of each other, My hat is for size reference. (I know old rubs don't mean the owner is still there but nobody talked of any big ones being killed last season) Sorry for keep bringing up the location questions but season will be here before we know it. Thanks, Luke

    Clawed Tree?

I wasn't sure where to post this at so I put it here, If it needs to be moved then mods please do so. Was out scoutin around for deer season since it'll be here before ya know it and I found this cedar tree off from a power line cut out and noticed it has been tore up pretty good, I can't see a coon doing this by going up and down it. The clawmarks/scrapes went above my head atleast a foot and I stand at 5'10 and it started at about 3 1/2 ft. up. Anybody got a clue what done this? I didn't notice any of the other trees like this. Thanks, Luke
  11. Yehh that hair layed down I just hurried up and took the picture cause he had to go.
  12. These were uploaded on Hunt101, I know some computers have had a problem viewing ones from there before. I can't remember what they did to fix the problem though, Sorry.
  13. Thanks, It's a .22 New England SS1 Sportster single shot, which I think is pretty close if not the same as what Dakota said.
  14. My cousin has a .300 shortmag, It's a very nice rifle. I just have an addiction to the 7mm calibers. Ammo isn't a big concern for me at the moment, as long as we get the upstairs of our garage fixed up in time to start reloading.
  15. Yeh that's what I've been told. I trapped this past trapping season and it should be done anytime now, I took mine to a diffrent taxidermist though, and had a diffrent pose done. Will put up pictures when I get it back.
  16. haha, That sounds like it would have been something fun to watch.
  17. Yes sir, I was using the Remington balistics, and comparing the Premier Core-lokt 140 grain. Thanks for that tip of advice!
  18. This rascal has been eatin the feed in our barn but I caught him in the middle of some "sudan"(sp) my uncle sowed, he looked at me like he had been caught just froze up with a piece of the sudan in his mouth. Poped em right through the neck. he may have been a young one but he was fat! heres the field he was in Now just gotta get his brothers and sisters.
  19. My uncle got his bobcat back that he shot back in deer season, What do ya'll think? I like it well, and He's very excited about it..lol He had somethingelse on his mind and opended up his truck door and let out a sqawl and jumped backwards, he said he had forgot it was in there and scared him. I must add, around the eyes look a little funny but isn't too bad I don't guess.
  20. HAHA may take about 5+ years 1st though :hammer1: Walked right up on em before I seen em', Wasn't gonna disturb em' but when I backed off it done jumped up.
  21. That 2nd red one up from the bottom sure looks nice.
  22. I was looking at the balistics for the 7mm ultra compared to the regular 7mm mag with the same brand/style load in the same gun, and the 7mm ultra gives 250 more FPS at the muzzle and 143 at 500 yards. It also gives 513 more ft/lbs at the muzzle and 192 more at 500 yards. I know in some of that it isn't much difference but the main reason I want it is because...It's a 7mm Ultra Mag. :hammer1:
