I posted these pictures 2 years ago and never got an opportunity at this deer. I placed a camera back on this property yesterday and am hoping he or some of his offspring are still in the area. Was this deer in his prime at this point, or if he is still alive is he possibly a much better quality buck?

~25, I practice 60-80 but don't feel with my shooting ability anything over 40 is remotely ethical.

I still shoot rockets. Last year and this year until they are gone, I have some 10+ year old 4 blace Rocket Hammerheads and they are in my opinion the best broadhead ever made. When they are gone, I have several packs of the new 3 blade Trophy Ridge Rocket Hammerheads to shoot. Excellent broadheads.

That's a steal on that bow! I have 2 2009 Bear Truth 2's that are the same limb and cam design with a different deflection and riser length. It is one of the smoothest bows, and for $199.99?? You cannot beat it. It's very easy to work on, and if you need any DL modules for that bow, let me know.

Congrats on the New Bow. Bear bows are very under appreciated and have came along way. These bows are very easy to tune and shoot great!!

I won't take a bow in the woods to hunt unless it has a biscuit on it!! Excellent rest that is "Fail-Proof"!! Target shooting is a slightly different subject.

I've shot Winner's Choice for the past 2 years. Great strings!! I'm trying a Little Jon BowString out of Ohio on my Girlfriend's bow now. They appear to be great/solid strings for a 3rd of the price.

Of the bows on your list the PSE Rally is awesome! It has more adjustability than the Razor Edge and shoots great. Looking at the bear line I would look at the Homewrecker or an older Truth 2 ultra light. If any way possible shoot all options and choose what feels the most comfortable to you to shoot.

Shooting BowHunter Novice (max 30 yards) I use a pair of $15 Bushnell 10 X 25 and can see all scoring rings with no problem. Shooting open class I can see using a better pair, but I haven't had a problem yet. On most targets with a replaceable vital where you can see center 10 and have a good idea where the lower 12 is, there are some targets that I don't use them on at all.

I would check to make sure that the range finder is completely shutting off. I could see if the auto shut off function failed, the batteries would die quickly. If that wasn't the issue, I would contact the manufacture as well.

I'm looking for the most accurate arrow for hunting/3d that wont break the bank. Both arrows look great, but the ICS is +/-.001, and the Blue Streaks are +/- .0025. I know a lot of people who shoot the Blue Streaks and wont shoot anything else, but I was wandering if the straightness would have a big impact and make the ICS the more accurate arrow. Right now I shoot the CX Mayhems and just want some sort of upgrade before 3d season. Thanks.

I recently picked up a late 50's early 60's Ben Pearson 45# 709 Hunter recurve. I have gotten good enough to hit vitals on 3d targets at 20 yards shooting completely traditional (It's very different with no sights and coming off of the shelf). I shoot Rockets out of my compound, but what broadheads are the recurve shooters shooting to get the most penetration?

I have nothing but good things to say about Bear Archery and the people that work for them. I don't know what I was trying to say in the origional post, but that is the 2nd squirrel in a week at 30 yards and the 3rd total that I have killed with the bow.
-
This is the 2nd squirrel I've shot with at 30 yards with the Truth 2, and I thought these pictures looked interesting.

The Bear Archery Legion and Encounter both are priced under $500 and are also great bows. If you look around you can find the 2011 strike and charge models a little cheaper as well.

Over the past few years I have completed several skull mounts for myself and close family and they have looked decent, but this season I have picked up "customer" skulls. My question is, is there a chemical that you need to put on the antlers to preserve their natural color, all that I have previously completed have been with natural antlers and they show no signs of turning or flaking, just want to do the paying jobs right. Thanks,

7mm REM Mag is an excellent choice. Ammo is very easy to find as well.

I've killed many deer with the Remington 700 .243 that my dad bought for me 15 years ago when I was 7 years old. I killed many deer with the 95 grain Georgia Arms Ballistic Tip ammo (.243 Winchester 95gr Ballistic Tip 20pk). Now I strictly bow hunt, but if an arrow with a 100 grain field point going less than 300 fps can kill, there is no reason that a 95 grain .243 is not enough caliber for hunting. JMO

I really like the Rocket Hammerheads. I have several packs of the HammerHeads, 2 packs of Sidewinders, a pack of Swhackers, and some Carbon Express F-15's. The Rocket broadheads are an awesome product, from the old origional "Rocket Arrowheads" to the new Trophy Ridge rockets. Every deer I have ever killed with a bow have been with the Hammerheads!
-
That's good. What exactly was the camera doing that was wrong? I have 1 that quit taking pictures and I am going to attempt to do that and see if it fixes it.
-
Just short of 125.
-
Nice deer! That's much bigger than most people ever kill with any form of weapon, much less a bow. Congrats!
-
Sounds similar to a 60 acre tract I have permission to hunt. Most of the deer killed on the property were killed in or near the small section of hardwoods that were left on the backside of the property!
-
Sounds like a good story to me. What did you put the camera on to get pictures that quick?
