  1. I'm looking at different add on's to my new bow, and the Meta Speed Studs look great for the money to add 5-7 FPS to your bow, but has anyone here tried them and do they really work? Thanks
  2. I have a magnum research Magnumlite .22 WMR and it is one of the best shooting guns I have ever shot. As far a hunting I would personally stay away from the .17 due to the 17-20 grain bullet you have to shoot. There is more error due to wind and weather than with the 30-40 grain .22. With either gun you will get what you pay for in accuracy in a controlled environment, but in the field I've found the .22 WMR does better.
  3. I don't have a definite answer to this, but I do know that the property that I hunt that is surrounded by cattle farms, and horse pastures has better quality deer then the other properties. The minerals have to have some effect on the deers growth but I don't know how much.
  4. I have an old side by side shotgun that I want to refinish and know nothing about it. On the left side of the reciever it has The Continental, and on the other side it says Pat. June 20 1883. Under the barrels it has the serial number and another pat date that I cannot read. Does anyone know anything about this gun or somewhere that would have information. Thanks.
  5. I went from the WB back to the old superdoodle because of the noise made by the WB.
  6. I've tried them on different properties and had mixed results. The biggest tract of land that I have has 3 mineral sites that are used daily durring the warm South Carolina summer, but as bow season begins in Sepember the activity around the minerals dissapears. On other propertys that I have tried it on I've had similar results on some and on others the deer never use the site no matter what the weather conditions are like. I've read somewhere that it has to do with the soil types. If your interested some of the minerals are not really expensive to try and see what kind of outcome you get.
  7. I'm looking for a cheap 6-24 x 50 or close scope for a 22 WMR. I would like to have a silver scope because the gun is stainless and the ones that I see that are cheap have mixed reviews. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks
  8. An 8 point 18-19 inches wide with decent tine lenght around here is a great deer, and it dosen't take much more to make it a monster.
  9. As far as broad heads go, Rage has the 40ke kinetic energy broadheads that are designed for short draw lengths and light weights. http://www.ragebroadheads.com/Products/40-KE-Broadhead.php
  10. I don't know but I'd like to take a look at one. I'm looking for something but cannot find anything that I like better than my Truglo tooless, but this may do it.
  11. I just bought a new 2009 Fred Bear Truth 2.
  12. I just bought a Bear Truth 2 bow, and if I'm not mistaken it is Realtree AP that it is dipped in.
  13. Does anyone hunt with or know anything about the truth 2, I'm thinking about buying one.
  14. I hunt with the Summit Viper SS, It's a very comfortable 20 pound stand. The Viper Classic is very similar in size but it weighs 27 pounds and is almost $100 cheaper. If you don't have a very long haul to where you want to climb the Viper Classic is $169.99 and is a very good stand.
  15. If you are using it to shoot deer with slugs, I would go with a 3-9x40 or 50 and use it just as I would a rifle. On my turkey 870 Special Purpose, I have a Bushnell Prodiamond 4X32 and it works excellent for that purpose. For the mount I have one of the sidesaddle? mounts. It's the one that mounts from the side and wraps up around the side to the top. I don't really like it but it was all I could find.
  16. That's one heck of a South Carolina deer. I've lived in and hunted SC my entire life and that is truely a monster SC deer. There is a good chance to make the book, I believe that it is 125 net typical and 160 gross nontypical to make the book. That is a very nice deer Congrats.
  17. On my 7mm REM Mag I have a Leupold VX-II 3-9x50 and it does the job. Right now I'm trying the Nikon Team Primos 3-9x40 on a 25-06 and though it may not have that much recoil, the scope has the ability to handle it. Both scopes are great in low light condition, and I would not hesitate to put either on any gun.
  18. About how long does it take to condition deer to eat at the times that a timed feeder feeds?
  19. Weatherby Vanguard $399.99 guaranteed at least 1.5 inch groups at 100 yards,.
  20. I've been hunting a mature 130 class 10 point for several weeks now and he has been showing up every couple of nights but never during the day. He showed up on camera Thursday night, Friday night, Saturday night, then Monday at 1;40 in the afternoon, and this morning at 9;15. I was going to hunt him this morning and the heavy rain kept me out. I've never hunted deer this big or mature before, does anyone have any advice on how I should hunt him?
  21. .308 will kill anything on the North American Continent, it's all about shot placement. The biggest problem you will encounter with the .308 is knowing your rifle, it is not as flat of shooting bullet as most, so you have to compensate more for long range shots.
  22. Has anyone used the Tinks #69 Buck Bomb? I plan on using one in the morning and wanted to know if there is anything that I may need to know before setting it off?
  23. I have been using this camera for 2 weeks now and the only problem I have had is using the high motion sensitivity you get a lot of pictures of squirrels. Other than that it has worked great.
