  1. Holding the pin on target. Do y'all float it down to the target or up to the target?
  2. Should I be trying to hold the pin dead still on the target or float it and release when it covers the target?
  3. Conceal Carry Illinois Ruger SR9c.
  4. if you could change one thing I would extend South Carolina's season through Feb 15 so we can hunt in some cold weather. It would have to be archery only though after January 1st (End of season now.) so too many deer won't be harvested.
  5. Entering a stand in the morning in the early season. It is buck only until Sept.15 and only mature bucks on the property that I hunt. I figure it is a shot in the dark regardless but can't shoot one from the couch.
  6. What was your first compouind bow? My first bow I ever had was an old (1980's?) bear bow. The first bow that I had and used, and shot my first deer with a bow with was a mid 90's Proline New Wave. I currently shoot a 2008 Diamond "The Rock".
  7. Playing the wind. What I'm trying to get at is that I only have 2 ladder stands to hang. I can only put them up this weekend. I have to pretty much guess at what the wind will be like on August 16th. I also have a climber but am trying to avoid climbing in August since it is so hot.
  8. If this coming weekend is my only chance to hang the 2 stands I have, and I won't be able to get back out there until opening weekend, how do I go about setting the stands for the wind? As far as I can guess, it's just going to be a guessing game. I have a climbing stand, but I'm trying to avoid sweating my butt off climbing in August.
  9. What is the best way to get to a stand in the am during the early season? The deer are most likely going to already be out and about before sun up since it is so hot during the day. Is it best to wait until first bit of light so you don't unintentionally spook any deer while getting to your stand and hope to catch a deer coming through late?
  10. Pre season routine. I haven't touched my bow since last season, but started shooting it the other day.. I'll hang 2 stands this weekend, then be out 2 weekends after that for opening weekend. As hot as it is, it's hard to pass up being back in a tree stand. I did wise up this year and get a couple of ladder stands instead of trying to use a climber in August in the Low country of SC.
  11. Broadheads over the years. I was going to get some rage mechanicals the other day but the salesman said that if I am not going to hit the deer in the perfect spot then I shouldn't be using them.
  12. Cornfields. If deer are in the cornfields (unharvested), will they be aware of me walking past the field (there is a row of small trees between the corn and where I will walk in)?
  13. I always read discussions on broadheads and it seems like people are always trying different or better broadheads (myself included). It just seems to me that if something is working for you, why change? Is the object to eventually drop a deer in its tracks with a bow on every shot?
  14. Mineral attractant. Or should I just put some corn out about a week before I hunt to get the deer where I want them for a shot? I know a lot of people are probably against that, but I just want to enjoy hunting and be successful.
  15. As I've mentioned before, I will be setting up on a cornfield. If I'm setting up about 20 or 30 yards into the pines off the cornfield, would it be a good idea to put down some sort of mineral block or attractant to get the deer going a certain way to the corn? I figure when the deer find it, they will start going to it on their way to the corn, giving me a shot.
  16. Cornfields. The reason I mentioned having to drive by the cornfield is that if I don't, I would have to go around the property out of my way to get to where I want to put my stand. As hot as it is here in August, walking a long distance to a stand is out of the question. The amount of sweating alone would ruin the hunt.
  17. Cornfields. If I spook deer while putting stands up next weekend, do y'all think that spot will be ok by August 15th? Also, if I were to jump a deer going into my stand, is my morning or night hunt ruined? The only way to get to a stand by the cornfields is to drive by the cornfield.
  18. The property that I hunt has planted corn instead of soybeans. What is the best spot to setup on a cornfield? I have been told to setup about 20 or 30 yards off of it. That sounds about right but wanted other opinions. The woods leading to the corn are pines if that makes any difference. I will be hunting with a bow.
  19. 100gr Muzzy broadheads. Same arrows, same length, different weight. They are lighter arrows.
  20. 100gr Muzzy broadheads. The reason I ask is because I just bought new arrows, but I already have a 6 pack of Muzzy 100s. I used MX 3s last year and liked them. The arrows I bought are lighter and better suited for what I shoot, so I guess it really doesn't matter about the blades. I still have 2 MX 3s left and am just wondering if I can switch them out if I want to being that they are both 100gr, without having to resight my bow.
  21. 100gr Muzzy broadheads. But the fact that they are different blades really shouldn't matter since they are both 100gr and 3 blade broadheads?
  22. 100gr Muzzy broadheads. I'm just looking more at how they fly to the target. I've never really looked much into aligning the fletchings and blades. Not sure that aligning them makes much of a difference anyways.
  23. I realize that not all broadheads fly the same, but should the Muzzy MX3 100gr and the Muzzy 100 shoot in about the same group together from the same bow? They are both 3 blades.
  24. I lost track of things last season and never saw which team won the deer contest. Anybody remember?
  25. season dates The area I hunt in SC is: August 15: Bow/season opens (buck only). September 1: All guns (buck only). September 15: Still any weapon but does are now legal to shoot. Once a particular weapon starts for the season, it is legal until the end of the season, which is January 1st.
