  1. Re: gas prices and trucks???? I rarely drive my truck now. I'm driving a 88 VW Scirocco that I've restored this summer. It gets 30 mpg vs 16 mpg for the Tundra. It's paying for itself now. I'll get a tarp and put a deer in the back if I have to!

    No Muzzy Moment

Re: No Muzzy Moment Sorry it didn't produce a bear. But at least you were there to do it.
  4. Re: 10 minutes or 10 hours From that 1st pic, you could have had a camo toilet seat.
  5. Re: I need a geometry buffs help: [ QUOTE ] Ok...I found a right triangle calculator. The missing side of the triangle is 26.2'. When you add the 5', you get 31.2'. Sounds like dg was right. [/ QUOTE ] Yeah! What do I win?
  6. Re: I need a geometry buffs help: 31 ft I think The side = the square root of (60 sq - 54 sq) then add 5 ft.

    Upset Saturday

Re: Upset Saturday Yeah, I watched some too. I'm glad college football is back. I enjoyed the Clemson game. Now we'll see if my Mountaineers can do the same today.
  8. Re: Looking for a new sight help. Here's the spot hogg I use except it doesn't have the Primos add. I like the .019 pins.

    opening day questions

Re: opening day questions If you have never been there, then I think being on the ground will be better than just finding a tree and winging it. Please be courteous of other hunters that may already be in an area. If you can find a topo version of the land, and it's a large area, then plan on most hunters being close to the trucks. Find a trail and get in the back unless it's easily accessible from all directions.

    Fletching Length

Re: Fletching Length [ QUOTE ] would there be any advantage to going to a shorter vane length? [/ QUOTE ] The better an arrow is tuned, the less vane you need. If your 4" vanes are helical, they will wrap around the shaft and give you less clearance if the rest is a two-prong. A skinny arrow can make it hard with this set-up. A 3" vane will wrap around less and may give you the clearance needed to get through the prongs better. If that's the case, then yes you could benefit as long as the arrow is tuned good. But I'd still try to get the 4" vanes to work. JMO But give it a try. There is no "one-way only" when it comes to archery and it doesn't hurt to play and see what works for you.

  14. Re: how early to your stand? I like to be sitting with bow in hand about an hour before. It makes for an early day when the walk is long to the stand. But it's cool when you hear deer walking around just before daylight. And I don't come down until I can't see.
  15. Re: Anyone done any scouting? Went checking out a new archery-only area. What's cool is, it is a mile-an-a-half walk in hills to get to it! Saw some good sign and trails. I may go back tomorrow.

    Big Tournaments

Re: Big Tournaments Several ASA Pro-Ams. The highest place was 19th in Open B. Placed 161 out of 800+ in the MBO class at the IBO Worlds in '95. Placed 1st in the British 3D Championship back in '97. (brits didn't use binos then and I knew where the kill area was!)

    I want answers!

Re: I want answers! [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Yes, I think it is obvious most of us up here aren't real big Bush fans [/ QUOTE ] Actually, what I've heard/read from those up north, most seem to agree with OUR President Bush and what he's done. [/ QUOTE ] I'm not sure. I spent a couple days at Edmonton this summer. I always heard Canadians worry more about Bush than we do. I had an open mind reading the paper. But I think that's true. Except with having gay marriages, everything else in the editorials was against Bush for this or that. Not their own problems.

    Just curious?

Re: Just curious? I'm shocked too horst. We practice airdrops all the time and I KNOW we could have MRE's and water dropped in ASAP. The bottom line is: if the newsman can get there, the guard can too. Just remember that the guy doing the work just does what he's told....................

Re: Bait for stripers? [ QUOTE ] I was just wondering what kind of bait people were using this time for stripers? [/ QUOTE ] The norm use to be $1 bills. I don't know now, it's probably up to $5 and $10's!
