  1. Re: Who sits in a stand all day? I did it once during the rut a few years ago. I didn't see deer until the last 15 minutes of daylight. But miss a few years of hunting seasons and then you'll wish you could do that. I'm glad I had a Summit.
  2. Re: The people who make a difference in your life That's a good post. Thanks.
  3. Re: Show yourself! Here's a pic of me and a nice little West Va. buck killed on WMA land in '04.
  4. Re: Fletching question I don't wipe anything down. But Plastifletch vanes and super glue GEL works great.
  5. Re: Should I fletch my Own? Heck yea, start doing your own! I use an AZ E-Z-Fletcher, Plastifletch elite vanes and super glue GEL on carbon arrows. To scrape off the old glue/vane, I use a VERY DULL knife. Alum's are easier to clean, but I recommend fletch-tite glue for them. You'll be glad you did. Get helical or offset clamps. IMHO I think the fletcher is $40-45, 100 vanes around $8-10, super glue gel - $1.69 available almost anywhere.
  6. Re: What are your thoughts? I would leave early to get there just so I know I will be there on time. Sleep? That comes later! We got an antelope to get.........

    My house

Re: My house Have a cup of coffee on the front porch for me. CONGRATS!
  10. Re: Re-did my truck door panels in RT Hardwoods Grey Thanks guys! I still have the passenger door to do so I'll take some pics. The photo below shows what it looked like before. I pulled the door panel off and the upholstered part that I re-did was able to seperate from the door panel. It was a formed piece of plastic with the upholstery glued to it. I took off the switches and stuff and cut a big enough piece of material to cover the whole thing and fold back. The RT material clinged to the original material, so I left it on and just covered it. They make a headliner carpet adhesive I thought about trying and I just about started to strip off the original and was going to try and glue the RT material. But I left it alone. Honestly, I was afraid to screw it up. I'll take the RT material and practice on something else to see if it turns out good. I connected the RT on the back side by a combination of sewing to the original material that was folded over, and using attach points that held on components (by cutting a hole in material). That way if it sucked, I could revert back to the original. Some of the extra RT had to be cut and sewed. Anytime you have a curved area to cover, material will get overlapped in the bends and will not lay flat. So I had to cut and sew that out. Also, there is 3 cuts on what is shown, so I sewed them. It helps working with camo because the stitches don't show much unless you look close!. I'll do the passenger door close to the same way and see how it turns out. We'll see how it goes. Sometimes it's harder to do something twice. The material at wally-world was about $4 a sq yd. Plenty to do two doors and a console.

  12. I finally found some RT Hardwood Grey material at wal-mart so I sould cover my door panels and console. What do you think? This was my 1st time doing something like this, and I even did the sewing! [image] "]http://www.hunt101.com/img/314097.JPG[/image]

    Bought an arrow

Re: Bought an arrow Make sure you practice with broadheads before you go hunting.
  14. Re: would you take this shot JMO, but even if you did shoot, the buck at 25-28 yards (fully alert and watching you) would have reacted fast enough to do a 180 with a complete miss. Either way, you made a good call.
  15. Re: What Retirement Plan do you Have? It's not alot, but I'll retire at 41 years old this fall with 20 years in the Air Force at E-8. I'll still have to work. But hopefully, I can stash most of that into a savings with a decent second career.

    Hot Dogs

  17. Re: Now this is SICK! [ QUOTE ] I think that belief in god is a wholistic thing. Faith is good, and verybody need faith. It is when you get more than ten people together of similar faih under one roof that fire and brimstone are soon to follow. It is one of the trade off's for the whole fruit thing god made us suceptable to mob mentaliy. You would think that when you put 100 minds together the world could be swept aside. For some reason however, you can watch the collecive intellgence quotient fall to the ground like bricks dropped from an airplane. It is sad that little poeple hide behind the guise of something so pure. But then gain times never really change do they. [/ QUOTE ] Yep. Man believes what man believes. And what man believes is true. We are a weak specimen that needs some kind of hope. Even if it's fictitious. A form of denial I guess..........
  18. Re: Tony Stewart Parade The parade is in his hometown. If we did something great where we live, the same thing would probably happen. Then we can talk here about how stupid THAT was!
  19. Re: When You Finaly Get In Your Treestand??? My string has a loop about 5" dia. I push the loop between the cam and limb and then throw the loop over the cam and let tension hold it there.
  20. Re: Keeping the bow quiet Is the bow loud from you hearing it or a by-stander? I've thought my bow was loud and a buddy said it was quiet. Maybe when we shoot our bows, we hear alot more?

    Scent lok

Re: Scent lok [ QUOTE ] I've killed deer with scent blocker garments as well as the scent blocking technology found in Browning Garments. I've also used the old standard 3-d camo as well as regular camo to kill deer. All of these were used in conjuction with a scent elimination system such as sprays, soaps, shampoos, as well as towels and wash cloths washed in scent eliminating detergent. If a hunter wants to spend their money on these garments it's up to them but nothing can replace woodsmanship and practice with your equipment. Oh yeah...the Wal-Mart where I live has sold scent blocker garments for at least the last five years. They had garments in the old MOBU pattern two years prior to the new MOBU pattern being brought out. [/ QUOTE ] I read the your post. And since there is so many more reply's, I'd say that many testify to the validity on expensive clothing. WOULD SOMEONE TELL THOSE DEER THAT FELL TO MY BROTHER-IN-LAW AND HIS 20+ YEAR-OLD BOW WHILE WEARING JEANS AND A FLANNEL SHIRT THAT THEY ARE DEAD? THANK YOU!
  22. Re: Now this is SICK! [ QUOTE ] The give christians a bad name. [/ QUOTE ] So what is happening now in the christain world?
  23. Re: busch is leaving Rousch!!! [ QUOTE ] My thought on Kurt Busch are this. Love him or hate him. the kid can flat out drive a race car. /quote] You got that right.
  24. Re: Broadhead tuning..... [ QUOTE ] Well, I have never had this problem before, so I really don't know what to do. Started practicing with my braodheads, and usually they hit dead on with my field points, but with my new bow, that is not the case, they hit slightly high and right. Would I be better off just adjusting my sight, or do I need more 'professional" help, such as adjusting the rest? I'd say they hit 2-3" high about 1-2" right at 40yds. I am shooting Muzzy 4-Blade at 100gr. Thanks in advance for the help. [/ QUOTE ] You have a new bow. Don't expect the same just because old faithful shot the way you liked. Is the cams harder on the new bow? Maybe the old faithful arrows are underspined. A new bow requires a rest installation, so maybe you tuned to FP and not BH when installed? Unless you have a good match of arrows to the bow, you may never get FP and BH to match. BUT, the BH will group great. Don't always expect the FP and BH to hit the same. It doesn't always happen. AND, it doesn't have to........
