Saw an interview last week where a guy in the ozarks was complaining about folks from New York showing up there. So much for Cuomo's orders for his own. Supposedly people here were nearly back to pre covid19 level activity. Governor here just signed a new order today prohibiting all non essential travel. Amazes me how with all the death some people are still not taking this seriously. I am a little nervous about exposure. I had a wedge resection of the upper lobe of my left lung in 03. On carvedilol and lisinopril, have read articles that said lisinopril and other bp meds may increase risk, has to do with ace2. My last cardiology visit in January the doctor said we would likely be talking surgery next year, actually had planned on changing doctors prior to this covid19 starting up. Have moderate to severe aortic stenosis of a severely calcified bicuspid aortic valve, and have a dilated aortic root. Knowing if the need were to arise sooner the resources at local hospitals could be tied up is a bit concerning too.

Good to hear you and your girlfriend made it through self isolation Lewis. Adjusting ok here. Honestly it seems a little like summer, having the kids home from school. Except for the part where we are having to do schoolwork with our 8 year old.

Just wanted to come back to this and give a big thumbs up to Jim at granite ridge outfitters. Bought the same barrel from them for the price it was before arm or Ally jacked up their price, great to work with and fast shipping. Noticing several gun and ammo related sites that are maintaining their pre covid19 prices. Will definitely remember them when the time comes for future purchases.

Runs on soap and typical cleaning supplies, did these geniuses that stockpiled not wash their hands and/or clean up after themselves before this virus? Eggs and milk don't get it, neither freeze nor do they have any shelf life. Our local Walmart did have plenty of milk but had signage limiting customers to one gallon. We have kids and go through 2-3 gallons a week, not feasible to make extra trips in the store and increase exposure risk. Cereal and canned goods were still scarce here. Was plenty of fresh meats. Toilet paper still hard to come by last week. At some point some of those same geniuses out of work will max out their credit and the stores should recover. The hysteria and stupidity seem to go along with the self serving imo. Unfortunately no shortage of either around here.

That is terrible. I have heard that Tennessee is allowing family members in to homes only for residents that are at end of life situations. Otherwise no visitors without exception. All it takes though is one and they may not even be symptomatic. Hoping the home Catrina runs can continue to avoid having any staff or residents get it.

Math.... Someone please correct me if I am mistaken. 1 million tests conducted, 330 million people in this country. So 1 in every 330 people in this country at the current have been tested? 160 thousand plus positives of that 1 million, 1 in 16 positive of those tested? The experts still say some will have this and recover and never know they had it, don't imagine those folks have any reason to get tested. Tennessee numbers will eclipse 2000 positive cases today. Deaths related to Coronavirus was at 16. A lot more local positives being reported. Another nursing home in middle Tennessee has had a positive test of an employee. Guess my takeaway from my math perspective is that someone at the store you run into does have this.

Some sad stories coming out around here over the weekend. Tennessee cases expected to skyrocket. Country music singer songwriter Joe Diffie was said to have tested positive on Friday, he passed away from covid19 early Sunday, he was 61 years old. Nursing home rehab center in middle Tennessee has 23 residents positive, 2 died over the weekend. Report I read said one positive employee started the spread and 30 some odd employees have now tested positive. New update this morning has 59 additional residents of that home also testing positive. Local case numbers expected to tick upward with drive thru testing. However results will not be made public by Tennessee Dept of health in a timely manner. As of this morning there were 1884 confirmed cases in the state and 10 deaths according to a Nashville report. With all the seniors at the one home testing positive, afraid that number may rise dramatically.
-
Numbers are confusing to say the least. A Nashville station has been accurate with their numbers everyday for Davidson county. They stay ahead of the government site. As of this afternoon statewide total of confirmed cases was at 1203, however that has Davidson with only 216 and yesterday afternoon there were 293 confirmed in that county. Shelby county confirmed cases have jumped significantly. Total tested is up to 16093. County to the south of us now has a drive up testing center so expect those numbers to go up. Hospitalizations 103, and the fatalities number doubled to 6. Real shame some people are not following recommendations and orders. Biggest group of positives is the 21-30 age group.

Just curious, is the hospital testing her anyway to see if she had one of those mild cases? Symptoms seem to be extremely broad, could be she had a mild case and a strong immune system? Would surprise me if they did not test to be on the safe side with the concerns for carriers. On the other side of the extremes, read a story this morning about a healthy 21 year old that died from this virus. Supposedly blood type is a factor as well as which strain a person gets in how bad or how mild the symptoms are.

That is good to hear Frank. Hope she is able to avoid getting the virus.

Governor yesterday pushed schools to not open back up until April 24th. Supposedly there is something in the works with local PBS stations to bring educational content over the air. Realistically I doubt at this point our kids step foot back in the school buildings for classes the remainder of this school year. Hopefully this all settles down soon. More data with today's report, now including hospitalization numbers. This week they started showing numbers for tests NOT conducted by the state lab. Nearly 12000 total tests conducted. Today's update reported another death, makes 3. Report says 53 hospitalizations. Total case count now at 784 statewide, yesterday was at 667.

Hope your girlfriend recovers fully and quickly Frank. The nursing home Catrina runs is doing their best to keep their residents out of the hospitals. There has only been 3 cases confirmed for that rural county and only 2 to date in the county we live in. I am hopeful that they can keep this from spreading and her getting it. Bad thing is a stomach bug and flu are still active, throw in seasonal allergies and people may not know they have it.

State's site with their numbers seems to be about 2 days behind, makes me wonder how accurate the real time numbers are. Media sources are confirming positive cases about 2 days before the TN.gov site updates to reflect those additions. Over 500 cases here and more and more cases closer to home.

Heard this quite a while back. This is a huge concern with the younger adults and college kids who are congregating and then exposing older adults. Honestly the store here at 7am was not well stocked at all, not so sure what they are stocking overnight, looked like they were starting to stock stuff at 7am.

Common sense with a lot of this. Goal is to limit potential contact and to limit spread. Our governor here got a letter from some 600 physicians across the state urging him to enact a shelter in place order. People overreact and get stupid. Some in leadership positions that show they truly have no business being where they are and only serve to stir more chaos. I had to look up exactly what a "shelter in place order" would mean. From everything I have been able to find, that simply means you stay in, all dining places closed all businesses that are not a necessity closed, however essentials remain open. Pharmacies, grocery stores, etc would still be open and people would still be able to shop for necessities. Unfortunately panic and hysteria lead folks to act stupid.

Definitely seeing some of the worst in some people while seeing some absolute good in others, a huge THANK YOU to all our health care workers and to all those stepping up. Times like this sure show true character!!!

Seeing real quick how some companies are screwing people and I will not do business with them ever again. Had some stuff in my cart with Arm or Ally about $400 worth of stuff, price jumped on everything before I could place my order. So I hesitated and attempted to contact them only to hear back nothing. Price jumped again, and I opted to look elsewhere. They saw multiple price jumps over the course of the past 2 days, so much so that the barrel I was going to order went from $256 to now $317. I understand supply and demand fine, but jacking up prices for sheer profit in a time like this is just wrong. Found the same barrel elsewhere for the exact same price they initially had it. Their bullet prices have gone through the roof as well. Arm or Ally lost a customer for good here. Cabelas has kept their prices the same and my bullet order will go them or everglades ammunition who have despite the increase in demand kept their prices the same. So my list starts here, anyone else can feel free to add to it. Arm or Ally will never do business with again.

Strange how local county mayor's are confirming they have positives however the states health dept is not counting them. Local news station and paper both confirm these. That would make the numbers on the state website here inaccurate. Report I saw last night said some serious complications from this bug in people with cardio issues.

TN Dept of health update does not come out until 2 pm but local news station reports a case in our county now. Number of cases in the Nashville area is really taking off.

Trip to walmart this morning was somewhat enlightening. Before ever even getting in the store, there were nutcases racing through the parking lot, probably going close to 45 crossing through the parking area lanes diagonally across the lot towards the door. Seriously interesting to see how people in the community act. Seeing educated folks act in a way that fits the hysteria and in the process being inconsiderate of others. Principal of my kids middle school about ran over my 8 year old son as he raced down the aisle with his buggy full of all the stuff that has been high demand(bottled water, toilet paper, sanitizer, cleaning supplies), he did say excuse me sir though. Sure he recognized me. The guy has his doctorate degree, would not seem the type to fall into the hype. Have to wonder if folks are buying stuff they truly need or are buying for the hype and fear. Then the hoarders that cleaned out the canned goods, leaving nothing for others. Pretty sad state really. There was signage at many items saying limit of one, did not see any at the canned goods aisle which was pretty well bare. Waited at the single open register for over 20 minutes, there were only 2 people in front of me, the hoarder guy with a buggy full of canned goods had that much!!! I usually do our grocery shopping for our family once a week, then make a trip to sams once or twice a month. Will be glad when things settle down, this madness seems to only be getting worse. There was some packages of toilet paper in the store, guessing it was gone by the time I checked out. Every single cart I saw had at least one package of toilet paper and there were a few people carrying packages of toilet paper. Total number here went up to 98 confirmed cases, fully expect that to rise dramatically as drive up testing sites are now operational. Still no confirmed cases in our immediate area, but 5 pending in the county just to our south.

This was a conspiracy theory that some senators felt may have some credence. That was a couple months ago, supposedly there is a bio lab right there at Wuhan. With China's way they have dealt with this honestly would not surprise me.

FDA approval may go out the window like it has with the tests. Seems they are looking at fast tracking efforts and trying some therapies as well as some old drugs like hydroxychloroquine. Heard yesterday that some physicians think there may be some potential even possibly as a propholactic. Probably gonna make an early trip to Walmart for groceries tomorrow morning. Hoping our routine weekly items are on hand.
-
Today's update has Tennessee with 73 total cases. Highest concentration in the Nashville area with the highest percentage age group between 18 and 49. Still none in our county or the counties immediately around us.

My kids are out of school now indefinitely. No direction given for our 8 year old, our 14 year old says they gave her very little direction. We parents have not been given anything other than an automated phone call yesterday to inform us they were out starting today until at least April 3rd and something about a packet coming home with kids that we did not get.. Our 18 year old is now out of her dorm for the remainder of the spring term. She is between staying with us and staying with Christina our oldest. The college says in emails they will refund housing costs but no details. I went to Walmart Friday, was not crazy bad other than the toilet paper aisle being pretty well bare. With my heart issue I am going to try my best to limit my time in public places as much as possible. My Walmart trips will be only at their opening time. Catrina being the director of nursing at a medium sized nursing home, she has expectations that she may end up stuck at work. Her home is on lockdown. Sadly some folks are too ignorant to understand that is to protect their loved ones. Already has been a nightmare for her with staff, CNAs and nurses and CDC guidelines and the corporate guidelines rapidly changing. Tennessee has several cases, none to date locally.

Well, at least they are letting you come back. Hope you are able to get back without too much trouble.
