Got my soybeans broadcast Saturday afternoon, 140 lbs in the back plot and about 60 lbs in the bottom. Pulled a drag over them, did not get them covered as well as I would have liked. Was a 40 percent chance of rain for Sunday. Ended up not raining. Had several days this week with rain in the forecast before Saturday, chances looking less likely now. Will get some pics when green starts popping up.

I just read the new regs in the handbook online and confirmed that our county is in fact included in this. No doubt the August 3 day weekend will be warm here. Snake boots will be a must. May have to invest in a new mesh bugsuit if I cannot find my old one. Think I will plan to try all the mornings, not sure about the afternoons. Unless I got lucky enough to tag a velvet buck opening morning, then would let Catrina hunt the rest.

Guess we will see if we can get enough to signup to do this again this year. Should be plenty early enough. Before signing up please read and understand the rules posted in this room. First of all this is of course an unofficial contest run and moderated by forum members and not sanctioned by the good folks at Realtree/Jordan Outdoor Enterprises etc. There may or may not be prizes awarded at the end, in order to participate you must be a member in good standing with at least 10 posts at the time of the contest start, or member of active military duty with 5 posts. A new member with a consistent regular member vouching for them can also enter. Any questions with regards to post count do not hesitate to ask here or pm me. We reserve the right to disallow any member regardless of post count. This contest is simply an "all-in-fun" thing and if someone is disruptive to either the forums or their teams they will be replaced. Sign-Up will end on Sept 21st, may be extended or may take alternates if need be. At that time I will randomly make up teams (youth hunters will be evenly distributed though) and will have them assembled before the 23rd when I know many states have openers. Additional late teams can still be made up as they are formed, so if you catch this thread after the deadline, by all means sign up anyway. There are always no-shows and we need alternates. REMEMBER YOU ARE EXPECTED TO PARTICIPATE. NO ONE LIKES TO BE STUCK ON A TEAM WITH NO-SHOWS! Once the teams are announced we'll allow about two weeks to check in, so please check back before the end of the month or you will find you have been kicked off the team and to the back of the line. Please sign up below with Name, Screen Name, Age, States to be hunted, and Dates.

For the most part agree with you Dave. Silly really how people are wearing masks and for them to think they are protected is ignorant. I have a chemical respirator that I think should be effective, only issue would be my beard does not allow for a proper seal. Still would be far more effective than anything made of cloth I have seen people wearing. Tennessee is likely going to pass a statewide mask mandate, the county south of us where the hospital serving this area is located just made it mandatory you wear a mask in all public places and businesses. People just don't get it that masks protect others not you. Tennessee just saw another record number for a single day. Our rural county saw its biggest single day jump for the past 24 hrs. New hospitalizations and deaths are chugging along at a steady clip as well. Biggest issue with this is still the unknowns. Evidently this thing has mutated again from the last strain, some physicians on news broadcasts are warning this new strain could mutate yet again turning more lethal. Would think the mutating strains could render the potential vaccines possibly useless. While the death rates are not extreme there is a population of people like myself that are likely susceptible to severe or life threatening complications. At only 51 years old I shouldn't have to be concerned, but I know my health issues and I would prefer not to risk finding out.

Catrina has had a second employee test positive. They have had no fever and no symptoms whatsoever. The person was tested Monday and had been in a couple different stores on Tuesday with no mask, community spread!!!

Local news this morning reported the hospital is only equipped to take 50 covid patients, they currently have 29. The county the hospital is in had their highest single day positives reported with 28 new positive cases.

Have had crazy amounts of rainfall this past week. Dunno if I will be able to get seed in the ground this weekend or not. Prefer not to get the tractor in the plots when they are this muddy. Shot these over the weekend. Hopefully will not rain anymore between now and Sunday and will be able to get them finished off. Clover needs mowed again, might spray it with clethodim.

New case numbers are troubling here for sure. Tennessee is today again seeing a record high number of new cases, significantly higher than the previous single day record high number. New hospitalizations are staying around 50+ a day. Locally new cases are seeing bigger jumps too. Catrina's nursing home now is testing all staff weekly. Not sure the frequency of testing on the residents. A home in the group under her employer about an hour from here has a nightmare on its hands with 16 employees testing positive just last week. Those numbers are still not reflected on the states website so still some very serious questions on how much lag there is in their reporting. Me, I am not going to be going inside anywhere I don't absolutely have to. Doing more online ordering for some grocery items. Picked up some sirloin tip roast from sams Monday morning to trim and grind. Used their online ordering, brought the meat out to me in the parking lot.

Kind of brings to mind another question. I know with my family history stroke and heart attack risk are very high, I would much rather when the time comes to go out quickly. Less pain for family. Not so sure I would want to go on a vent if it came to it if I got covid. The idea of a long drawn out process and family ultimately having to later on down the road decide to pull the plug is not something I would want for my wife and kids. I know how bad I felt having to make decisions for my mother at the end, still bothers me to this day. So what say you all, get covid bad enough go on a vent or no?

Carrying capacity 101..... Dunno that we are beyond it, but no doubt man has been pushing the limits with destruction of ecosystems and resources in the name of expansion and growth for some time. Yet so much is still left vastly uninhabited. When looking at the covid impact, no doubt there is a bigger picture in all of it than just the deaths directly related to the virus. Businesses that have closed to never reopen, the livelihoods of many. Other impacts for many of those may be lifelong. Suicides and the lifelong impacts they have for those families. With all that is taking place in the world right now, I think the potential is there for great life loss well beyond that of this virus. This covid pandemic has in my mind increased already high tensions in relations of all kinds throughout the world. With respect to the need for a dieoff, at what point do we go too far preventing death that would seem untimely? The advances in medicine that keep alive those who would otherwise not be adding to the already crowded world we live in. At what point is playing God going too far? Cancer, aids, heart disease, how many millions are kept alive. These questions hit home with me. Born with a bicuspid aortic valve, I am now at the point we are looking at my options. The cardiologist tells me the longer we can put off replacement the better, keeping blood pressure and heart rate down with medications to prolong the inevitable all the while hoping for no catastrophic event. We hope for potential advancements, but with also having an aneurysm at the root of the aorta we cannot wait too long. Then this covid mess to try to acknowledge with what is being said that recovery chances if I were to get it are significantly less than most my age. The problem as I see it is not that I cannot social distance and take all the precautions, the problem is that it takes one ignorant infected person to invade my personal space and potentially cost me my life. I take a risk every time I go out in public places. If not for my kids my outlook would surely be different, but with the unrest in the world especially under the current climate I would prefer to be here for them as long as possible.

Scattered thunderstorms have turned into heavy long lasting soakers here this morning. Doubtful at this point my ground will dry out enough to get my plots in this weekend. Real shame I could not get my seed in the ground ahead of this.

That 8 could be a pretty decent buck, nice and matched anyway. Hoping to get a camera out here this weekend.

Right, it helps control the inflammation. Pneumonia had been being one of the primary issues and lung inflammation leading to breathing complications. Think last I heard they were saying remdesivir in combination with dex was showing promise as a therapeutic. Problem is a lot of people with underlying issues could not use that regimen. Last fall my regular Dr, who was will aware of my cardio issues put me on Prednisone. Almost put me in the hospital, sent my bp into dangerous levels. I still plan on getting pneumonia vaccine, no way I am doing a covid vaccine if it becomes available. btw, good to see you back around Dave.

Single highest number by far on today's report for new cases. Will be the highest number of new cases this week for the second week in a row. Daily deaths are staying in double digits and seeing increasing hospitalization numbers. Things here are not looking good. Schools were still supposedly on track to re open for the 2020-2021 school year at the first of August. Given the current rise will be interesting to see how the situation evolves.

Racism is not exclusive to one race...... Discrimination and hate come in many forms. Has become abundantly clear the hatred of many towards law enforcement and anyone that does not agree with their "movement", many of whom do not even know what exactly their goal is....... Extremely disturbing.

Last year TN made the cwd zone eligible to use muzzleloader for the Late August 3 day buck only hunt, we were not in the zone so I did not even attempt to get out in the heat with archery gear. Looked at the proposed new regs earlier today, which has our county fall into the cwd zone even though there have been no cases here yet. That puts us in that 3 day hunt, and they added rifle in as well. Our official regs/handbook should come out in a few weeks, will be able to confirm this then. Guess I better get some cameras out. Motivation to get our beans in too, was shooting for planting this weekend. There is a lot of corn in around us, don't figure it will be out in time, but never know if we might have something decent hanging around in rifle range.

Just heard Wallace put out a good statement acknowledging it was not a noose.
-
FBI concluded the garage door opener cord had been there since October 2019, there is even video showing it there in the exact place it was found by Wallace. Wallace however still is insisting it is a noose. I don't know the guy but sure seems to me he is pushing a false narrative.

Good point. I know the speculation of 100 million doses was said to be for elderly and most vulnerable. Think healthcare workers were also mentioned. Be interesting to see for sure. Heard earlier this week that dexamethasone is showing promise as a treatment. With the numbers of infected continuing to tick back upwards in much of the country, hopefully the death toll can be limited with more knowledge of what is working.

Sadly it is not just with black people that this problem exists. We live in what we have allowed to become an entitlement society. It is what am I gonna get..... This day and age too many people are sensitive to anything and everything until it comes to white people, conservatism, and Christianity. Seems there is a legitimate effort by young people to stifle anything they do not agree with and all too often they are outspoken on their sensitivity to the typical liberal causes. Disgusting this narrative being spewed by so many young pop icons that white people especially white men are somehow privileged. This only fuels the hate that ties into all this that is currently going on by emboldening these actions and assigning some sort of blame towards people who have nothing to do with the problem. My high school act scores were not good enough to earn me a dime in scholarships. I had a good friend who was black, he said my scores would have gotten him a full ride at FAMU, an all black school. I take great offense to being called privileged based on my gender and race. I have tried having reasonable rational conversations with a young adult and teenager on the current events and quickly learned that it is not possible, they seem to be too emotional and quick to become irrational. Quick to scream out what they think are facts because they happened to read their news on twitter. Social media is evil!!! Tainting minds of our youth with garbage. Yeah eggshells, problem is that you cannot have a discussion with groups not capable of listening. There is no reasoning with irrational. Cannot knock a chip off anyone's shoulder when they have become too emboldened. Fwiw, my great grandfather came here from Belgium in the late 1890's, with a better life in mind in the coal mining industry. They never owned any slaves here, seriously doubt they owned any in Belgium.

The cop that murdered George Floyd was a bad cop and some reports have said it was all about a beef between the two that had nothing to do with race. I could not be a cop. There is so little respect for the job they do by millennials and many people of color. They can get shot after a scuffle that leads to unknowns and are then supposed to do what exactly...... No way with how the video played out for either officer to know if the violent offender had either of their guns and whether they might get shot with more than a taser. Situation was completely avoidable. Once again an incident where elected officials turn their backs on LEOs before the facts are in. This incident in Atlanta was nothing to do with race and everything to do with total lack of respect for authority. I have looked into statistics and from the FBI and US Justice Dept, far more white men are killed by cops every year despite the fact that more black people are involved in homicides. Also interesting to note that the overwhelming majority of black people killed are killed by other black people, but black lives matter doesn't seem to want to discuss that. I maintain the need for a social experiment in some of these places they want to defund. Give them their way, see how long it goes before they start crying.....

Mowed the clover once here as well. Debated fertilizing and liming it, but it looks pretty good, probably hold off until late summer. Will try to snap some pics next time I get back there. Have clover I planted in one small pasture that the cows are keeping mowed down for me. Looking at the extended forecast think I am going to shoot for the first weekend in July for planting the soybeans.

Finally starting to dry out here and had weather cooperate. Got my plots sprayed with glyphosate and 2 4d on Friday. Had one sketchy spot to cross with the little Kubota, thankfully made it across both ways without getting stuck. Hoping to run the tiller through next weekend. Rural king could not order the 4.7 beans I had used in the past so went with 4.0. Really thinking I may need to push back planting to first of July, don't want them to mature too early. Anyone else working on plots?
