Looks like you are gonna have full freezer already. Congratulations. And yep, hours of cutting and packaging ahead of you.

Catrina showed me a few of your pics from facebook from time to time. Glad to see you back here.

Very nice Ruth. Congratulations.

The memory care units at homes and assisted living centers are really being hit hard. Wandering elderly on units cannot be locked down in rooms and many don't understand keeping masks on, unfortunately that is where it started to spread in the wife's home. The hospital had an outbreak. They sent a resident to the hospital, resident came back from hospital with covid, and they gave it to pretty well everyone working that unit and to all the other residents there. Catrina tested all those that came back positive. She had proper ppe. Think masks are over rated as protection when people don't follow social distancing. Gives false sense of security to many.

Yes, seriously. Catrina showed up at work on Saturday, 29th of August, she had a fever at the door and that was the first symptom she had. She has since had 2 different residents that tested negative despite having symptoms. Those residents both 2 days later tested positive. They are now testing staff and employees twice a week. According to Johns Hopkins, the viral load at onset of the covid 19 is not high enough for the test to detect it. It may be day 7 before the test is able to detect that a person has it! Catrina is feeling much better now, still her diastolic bp is too high, in the upper 90's to 100. I feel like I just have a mild case of the flu. And yea, the spread of this is crazy due to the lags.

Catrina had 2 negative tests, but both were within the first 72 hours of her symptom onset. Within just hours of her initial fever, she was hit pretty hard, but she was also probably pretty rundown due to lack of sleep and all the 12-16+ hour work days. According to Johns Hopkins it is not uncommon for false negatives with early tests, really that is not helping with fighting the virus and isolating infected people. She was over the symptoms for the most part this weekend, but her blood pressure is still elevated, she had never had blood pressure issues prior to her symptoms onset. Health dept told her she was a positive despite the negative tests. Will be interesting to see if her next test at work comes back positive or negative. I had symptoms myself, felt pretty crummy flu type aches and sinus symptoms(sore throat, headache, and cough). Tried to stay busy doing work around here outside. Honestly felt better each day after working a few hours and sweating. Still have a nagging itch in upper respiratory, headache, and cough. If in fact this was the covid, it was not so bad, but then I have not just layed around, have stayed pretty active. If Catrina tests positive this next time around, I may need to move up my next cardio check up. No doubt I got whatever she had.

Still have some hummers around here. Been seeing loads of geese, maybe residents but seems to be way more than normal. Farmers almanac calling for a pretty rough winter, but then they called for a bad one here last year and it was pretty mild. Eventually they are going to be right. lol.

I need to swap cards sometime this week. Really surprised that to this point we have had NO bucks that were of any interest at all. Only a couple 1.5 year olds. Been a strange year to say the least. Have noticed an uptick in buzzards flying low over the bottoms just off our lines. Dunno if anyone killed or wounded anything back in behind us during the velvet hunt or not.

lol. Until I got to the end it kinda reminded me of the old farmer story. Farmer picked up his calf from the time it was newborn each and every day, and as the calf grew, the farmer got stronger.

According to reporters on one station the paralyzed man had a warrant on him for domestic assault and rape. The woman who's house he was at when the police approached him was who had the charges against. He obviously knew he was not supposed to be there. The media continues to carry on with their deceit. This is who the left wants to make a saint out of.......

Have used both. I did notice that consistency and group size with the black diamond with the 209's was not quite the same as with the no 11 caps. We have used two different accura rifles with the 209 winchester primers with absolutely no issues whatsoever with accuracy.

Would be hard for me to get motivated to kill something when it is that warm, in the 90's. Since we do all our own processing, like you say it turns into a rush effort to get the deer quartered and in the cooler on ice quickly when the temps are warm. I have not been out much the past few years during our archery/crossbow season here, usually will wait and only go when it is cooler in the mornings. We do still get warm days in our muzzleloader and gun season here, my wife does not mind the warm days, so she usually goes those days. She has killed a few big bucks on warmer afternoons.

Guessing the liberal media will never bring up just why it was the most recent man was being arrested in the first place. The reports I heard said he had a warrant out on him for domestic violence and assault. The officers knew this. He was not supposed to be where he was. He assaulted officers and went to his car and was reaching in. He was tased twice. The officer who grabbed his shirt had no idea what he was reaching for. I put myself in the same position with him already resisting and assaulting me and I am shooting him too. The liberal media glorifying this blm movement and resisting arrest to cast officers in a bad light fits a false narrative and it is only getting worse. All started in my opinion when obama told the world he could have been treyvon martin in the black hoodie. That of course had nothing to do with police, but fueled this idea that white men (police officers) are shooting black men solely because of their color of skin. The premise of racial injustice and systemic racism is simply not supported by facts. When you look at the numbers from the us justice dept or fbi data, black men are involved in way more homicides in this country. More people die at the hands of black men than any other. More black people die at the hands of black men. Here is the interesting thing, more white men are killed by law enforcement than are black men, yet less white men are involved in murders. Go figure. When you think about it and think black people are way less in numbers than white people but they commit way more homicides. It would seem more black men would be shot by police than white men, but that is simply not the case at all. Data does not support the blm, they want to ignore this https://www.ojjdp.gov/ojstatbb/crime/ucr.asp?table_in=2

This is where we differ in opinions. You say you would view these different types of hunters differently and are calling them the "big rack hunters" implying you believe they are responsible for tech used in an unfair way and this decline in what some feel is ethical. Just the way what you wrote reads to me as I read it. I get it though, you don't intend to denigrate, but still hold a different view. I might admit I would be a little envious of some who have incredible opportunities for monsters, but would never hold it against them or look at them differently so long as they are following the law and acting in an ethical manner. Reality is we are all different and have different motivating factors. I don't think someone like Al or Frank here have any different or lesser regard for the animals they kill than what you seem to have, even though both have taken absolute monsters that I would be thrilled to even see. With that being said why would I look at them any differently because they like to kill bigger racked deer, than the guy who is "hunting to feed his family". Personally I enjoy watching deer, enjoy sitting in the stand with my kids and watching deer and waiting for mature bucks. It is just more challenging to me. We do hold high regards for the animals despite liking to kill more mature animals. And we do have remorse for taking a life. We do also like to look at our mounts though, does that make us somehow wrong? As far as technology goes, where to draw the line is subject to opinion and we all are different. What I see as ethical another might not. This could go on and on and has been brought up in this thread as well as others, you could say all modern methods are unethical because they give an unfair advantage. Reality is your rifle and scope could be viewed as unfair to the traditional archer, it is a perception. Last I knew, there was no spear season or knife season for deer. Man has adapted, and that is good. I personally think remote cell cameras in real time would be cheating. Really has nothing to do with the cost factor or the idea that only the wealthy have these toys, but with the idea that it takes away the element of true fair chase. Just my opinion.

Honestly it is probably already too late. Have had sinus symptoms that started mid week and a bad headache several days this week, assumed I was getting another sinus infection. This time of year that is not uncommon, but having a bit of respiratory symptoms and cough now. Don't really see a point in getting myself tested at this point, might if hers is positive. We have to quarantine at least until she gets her results, hopefully we can keep the kids healthy. Dread the thought of our son getting this.

I would probably be a little disappointed if we were getting pics of any decent bucks, but we are still not getting any bucks on our cameras. Better luck next year maybe. Hope you get out of the jury duty Dakota. Only time I had it, I had to call in every night to see if I had to report. Luckily I never got called up to report.

My wife swabbed all the positives that have come back in her nursing home going back to the first employee that tested positive in May, using all the right precautions and ppe. She had a fever at the door yesterday, had to turn around and come back home. She developed flu symptoms as the day went on. Hopefully her test comes back negative and she is just overly exhausted, but guessing that is probably not likely.

With this below: Really in my opinion a hunter should hunt for his/her own satisfaction and that can be to put meat on the table as well as put a nice trophy on the wall. I just don't see why some people feel the need to blame those that do for the commercialization of deer hunting. Sure some "pros" contribute to that but to make such a blanket statement does none of us any good. As was posted above, the hunt does not have to be about killing, and for many it is not. So much more goes into a season. Whether it be scouting in wide open out west, or planting food plots and setting up your box blinds. Just my 2 cents in this discussion, but think those who ridicule or blame those of us who like to sit for just the right deer further cause division amongst hunters. I have not seen on this site where those who choose to kill a deer others might not think worthy of the wall get blasted, usually it is right opposite and they congratulated.

Why beat down those who choose to challenge themselves to not take the first thing that happens along?

After reading the article, I agree that the use of a cellular camera while on stand in real time in my opinion is not fair chase and crosses the line. As for guys that have the means and who hunt states away, and have their cell cameras send them a weeks worth of pics so they do not have to drive a day to retrieve cards, I see nothing wrong with that. I am just not on board though with using drones or cams or tech to locate deer in "real" time.
-
Have not read the article but can see that the link suggests this is in regards to wireless cameras. I think a cell phone sending you to a deer at your camera crosses the line. That takes out a big part of the puzzle of putting yourself in the right place at the right time. Honestly Tennessee has allowed the use of atvs and utvs for years now so long as you are stationary when you shoot. A camera telling you where to go, then riding there and killing the deer does not seem like much of a challenge to me. Seems here these days they just want the deer killed.

Son's teacher has been in quarantine since the first week and will be until some time in September. The distant learning has been challenging so far, hopefully things will calm down before the second 9 weeks and he will be back in the school. Right now the numbers in these rural communities are worse than more populated areas.

A growing concern here is with elevated hunting and the likelihood of a fall. If I were to die in the stand then fall, so be it. However I don't want to pass out and fall and end up paralyzed or hung by a lifeline unconscious. Getting to the point that I am finding even with raising slow that having more and more frequency of crashing into the closest piece of furniture after standing from sitting, bending over to tie my shoes, or pulling my boots on. I know it is only going to get worse until it's time. Meanwhile gotta keep on living.
