  1. Thank you to ALL veterans past and present. Thank you to their families as well.
  2. Weighed Catrina's buck yesterday before gutting the deer, using the tractor bucket with the scale. Catrina's buck weighed 151 lbs and was probably a 3.5 year old, was nowhere near as big of a body or as thick of a neck as Allison's deer.
  3. Catrina killed a nice buck with the muzzleloader this morning on her first sit. Will have to let her post her story and pics.
  4. Sitting in a stand for my first solo hunt of the season, so gonna have to go back and read through this later on. But will post about recent issue we had. Our 8 year old son, Will, has come home from school and said he has been bullied by a certain kid. Had issues throughout the year. That kids mother is a teacher and is friends with the teacher our son had. Will is high functioning autistic and is a bit different. Hurts your heart when you send your kid to school and he gets picked on for something beyond his control. Makes me wonder about some of these school shooting and the suicide issues. Social media is obviously a factor but not for 7 and 8 year olds. I called the teacher out in an IEP meeting in front of the principal, she did better at keeping our son and the other kid from interacting.
  5. Nice long beams on that one Chris. Congratulations.
  6. Have our muzzleloader season opening this weekend here. Supposed to be coooold. Letting Catrina hunt all she wants, sign looking like bucks should be pretty active.
  7. Good luck Shaun. Have our muzzleloader opening this weekend here. Catrina gets to go as much as she wants for 9 days. Weather is gonna be on the cool side here as well. Might get a few sits in myself and may take Allison again.
  8. Could be he was the 8 she did not shoot last year. Hard to say for sure, most the other bucks around we have gotten pics of or have seen are definitely NOT the 8 we watched last year. I figured he would likely have been a 3.5 year old.
  9. Sounds like you have a good neighbor on that side Frank. I know some states allow recovery on land you don't have permission on, and some others you can see the deer just across the line and even though it is not posted it is unlawful to recover without permission. Yeah, funny how deer sometimes go the least likely places and sometime do things you would not expect them to.
  10. What did you end up planting Frank? Anymore issues with the neighboring property owner. Congratulations again on the buck.

    Range Time

Looks like a good day Ross. Sure Robby will appreciate his Christmas gift. Only one grandchild here so far, but hope I get to take her shooting and hunting when she gets old enough.
  12. Congratulations Martin, nice 8 point there. Congratulations Aaron, looks like a nice buck to me.
  13. That is one stud of an 8 Pat. Very nice. Congratulations.
  14. Congratulations Frank. It is nice seeing the rewards of your work killing deer on your own land, even better when you see your kids success there.
  15. Man that is a nice one. Congratulations to your brother in law.
  16. That was quick. Congratulations Corey.
  17. She should have a good chance at equalling next Saturday. I sat out over partially buried carcass in the bottom yesterday morning with hopes of busting a yote, instead saw a mature pretty 8 and one heck of a big bodied ugly racked buck that had a very nice right side and goofy left. Have no trail cam pics of either yet.
  18. Looking forward to your updates. Good luck Corey.
  19. Amazes me that these people can win elections anywhere in this country.

    Off to camp

Good luck Joe, and stay safe.
  22. Not sure really. I thought he was pretty heavy for here and thought he would be close to 200. I got a new digital scale I had not used yet and the dressed weight we got was 130, but his head and front feet were not off the ground. My garage setup with a come along is just not high enough for longer bodied deer to get them fully suspended from the gambrel. He was very fatty, had never seen a deer with as thick of fat as this one.
  23. Sorry, not much help with knowing any guides or where to suggest you try to hunt, but welcome to the forums. Might help to know more info too though. What areas are you interested in? Some states more out west you could hunt whitetails and mule deer both. Are you wanting to spend a lot of money and hunt with a guide or more do it yourself type hunt on public land or pay a landowner to hunt a large tract. A lot of options. Maybe Tim Andrus will chime in here, he is a prostaffer on these forums who may have some helpful information.
  24. While skinning Allison's deer noticed unusual amount of fat. Never seen a deer with so much. The hams had between 1.5 and 2 inches. Had heard some older people suggest heavy fat on animals means a hard winter. Seems to go along with the farmers almanac calling for a hard winter this year. Anyone here seen a correlation?
