  1. I can't post exactly what was said Kevin. Luckily I was by myslef or else I would have been fed a bar of soap.
  2. Well Saturday night was turning out to be a typical evening in my honey hole on a farm North of the house. I don't see deer until right at dark, usually around 7pm this early in the season. About 5:45 I hopped in the truck and took off to my spot and got settled in the stand at about 6:15. After sitting a few minutes, I looked at my watch and it read 6:49. About 10 minutes later, like on clock work, I hear footsteps in the thick brush in front of my stand. I got my bow up and release attached. Sure enough a healthy 1 1/2 year old buck appears at 25 yards. He continues walking toward me and gets behind a clump of trees, so I draw my bow. He comes out from behind the trees at 12 yards and stops broadside. I aim and let it go. My shot hit good left to right but a little low. The arrow zips through him and he runs 10-15 yards and stops to turn around and see what the heck was going on. My first instinct was to get another arrow and put another one in him. I get the arrow knocked and draw back.....Hes now at 25 yards or so. With the deer quartered to me, I gap shot my 20 and 30 yard pins just in front of the left shoulder and hit the jackpot. He ran through the woods sounding like a herd of elephants running off and I hear him crash. Getting dark now, I decide to let him lay and go get some help. I get to the truck and put my bow away, take off all my camo and put it in my scent free container, hop in the truck and go to back out when I hear a "crunch". I look in the rear view mirrow and see my quivver wit 2 arrows laying under my rear tire. The quivver was ruined plus the 2 arrows and the broadheads. I was quite ticked at myself but let it go and go get my uncle to help recover. The buck went down right where I heard him crash, leaving a solid blood trail about 2' wide all the way up to him. After getting lost and dragging the deer for 2-2 1/2 hours for about a mile mile and a half....we finally find the truck and get him home and hung up. So after all was said and done...I started adding up what this deer cost me. Lisence-$15 4 broken arrows-$40 4 wasted broadheads-$50 1 quivver-$50 processing-$60 fuel-$15 So, all in all, this deer cost me around $230 from what I fugured. The result....a 12" spike horn and some tasty meat. Who ever said this sport was cheap? Oh well, The excitement and addrenaline rush was worth it. Plus I got some meat and a little bit of bone for the wall.

  4. Wow, Congrats man. I hope everything works out for the both of you. I've been talking to you on here for alot of years but I guess you grew up quicker than me.
  5. Well my Saturday turned out to be a good one. At about 4PM I saw my sister and her boyfriend off to the homecoming dance. Her boyfriend for some unknown reason likes me and told me to come over to his house for pictures....So I did. Then after taking a ribbing from the two of them and my mom for being 2 weeks into the season and not having a deer down yet.....I went to the woods and did just that. I put the first deer of the season down. A big old spike horn. The first shot went low through the front leg and into the heart. The deer went 10 yards and stopped to see what happened and I put an insurance shot through both lungs. I'd say I had a pretty good day. By the way.......The sweatshirt in the first picture is for Andrea and all the haters.

Thats cruel....You could have at least picked a decent Cowboy player to glue his head on.
  7. Well, I got a big ole spike horn tonight. I'll get pictures but won't post him up until after the seasons over in case I get a bigger one. So thats guaranteed points on the board for us.
  8. Its probably a deer that is dead and froze into that position because of cold weather....and it stands up straight when you set it right side up......I have a picture of one of my uncles with a deer he killed...hes standing next to the deer standing up.....its still a funny picture though.
  9. Its not an old mans beer.....Its a vetrans beer. All these young drinkers just starting out see the advertisement for bud, coors, or miller, so thats the first thing they go to when they want a drink. After awhile it gets expensive buying that crap and they experiment with other products. And once they crack that first Pabst, thats what they drink til the day they die because once they discover the excellent flavor and true smoothness and at a cheap price....why drink anything else?
  10. I think Pabst Blue Ribbon needs to come out with a commercial. :cool:Advertise a real beer instead of that expensive coors, bud, and miller crap.
  11. Ohhhhhh.......I hope you didn't mean that in a bad way Andrea....... Pabst Blue Ribbon is a true gift from the beer Gods from up above. Everytime somebody cracks something open other than a Pabst, they have degraded themselves as a true beer drinker. All I can say, is once you drink your first Pabst, you will never ever go back!!
  12. What really gets me is..... how in the world.....after not being able to make races all year long...BOOM......toyota wins a pole and all the toyota cars run at the front of the pack all afternoon until they got crashed out??????? That really made me suspicious. You know dang well Nascar gave the toyotas some type of advantage this race so they could keep up with the real manufacturers cars.
  13. I don't know about that. I've lived in the city my whole life and have never caused any trouble....or no big trouble anyways. My dad, grandpa, and uncles always kept me busy hunting, scouting out spots, building blinds, or fishing. I may have lived in the city, but the woods was only a short drive away. And yup, I like rock and rap music....but that doesn't make me a thug.

  18. He must be the GM Colorado player of the week because Donovan McNabb should get the GM Duramax 2500HD player of the week for the whooping he put on the Lions.

    GM is on strike

So ugly that they sold more Silverados than the Ford F-series trucks and Dodge Rams.

    GM is on strike

Well, best case scenario since we are a supplier for GM is that they lay me off for October and November. IF ya know what I mean.
  21. I'm here. I'll be hitting the woods on October 1st. I have 4 different properties to hunt so one of them ought to produce something.
  22. All I can say is you better hope to God that Ohio State beats Michigan in football this year. You will never hear the end of it if they don't. And you better be ready for Michigan State. They suck every year but always seem to give OSU a good fight. As far as pro sports go.....Basketball hasn't started, MLB is still in the regular season, and the Lions have already beat up on the Browns....... so I'm still trying to figure out how you figure Ohio "owns" Michigan.
  23. This doesn't surprise me. If the parents can find a way to get a law suit out of it, I'm sure they will try. Thats the only reason they are making a big deal out of it. GREED.

    Bow Poundage?

I know a lady that killed a 12 point with 25#. But I would go with everyone else at 40#. She may not be able to draw it at first but after shooting for awhile she'll be able to up the poundage. I think 40# is doable for just about any adult woman.
