Re: NY/PA hunters.... [ QUOTE ] Honestly I can look back and no two seasons were the same on which of the three weeks we get is the best week to go after the birds. [/ QUOTE ] Boy M00N...your missing out if your only hunting 3 weeks in PA. Been 4 weeks for some time...this year the season starts on April 28th and ends on May 26th...thats 4 weeks and a day!

Re: PATTERN [ QUOTE ] I tried the 3.5's but the pattern was high right. [/ QUOTE ] Have you thought of a red dot or 2X scope? The more lead you throw...the better chances you have. I know I know...you don't need to use 3 1/2" to kill a turkey. I just had this discussion with a fellow from work...he asks (kinda sarcasticly) "why do you use 3 1/2" and take the recoil?" I replied...recoil isn't that bad shooting at a turkey...he says..."but you don't need 3 1/2" so why shoot it?" I ended the discussion by saying...because no one makes a 4" yet! LMAO!

Re: Question of Character? [ QUOTE ] as for my Camera, Its locked up and we hide it pretty well with leaves and brush, it doesnt have a flash and its digital. I have a memory card so even if they tried breaking the camera i would still have the memory card, [/ QUOTE ] How is it locked so good that someone can't steal it? Cables or padlocks are easily cut off with bolt cutters. Even if they can't get it off...not sure about your camera...but I don't think the plastic shell of my camera or the plastic memory card would hold up to a good bashing with a ball bat or tire iron. I wouldn't chance leaving my camera out there....think about it, they are going to be PO'd when they find their stands gone...IF they find your camera...they're going to take it out on it. Either stealing it...or destroying it....I'd go get it out of there.

Re: PATTERN It only takes 1 to kill 'em! However, these 8-12 pellets...is there anywhere else on the paper that there seems to be a more concentrated area of pellets? Just wondering if maybe adding a scope and adjusting so that the majority of your shot is where you want it. I personally would like a few more than 8-12 at 40...but that will work if you don't have the means to try different chokes/shells. How many do you get at 35 yards? 30 yards? May have to limit your shot to a certain distance...what are you shooting? 12, 20? 3" or 3 1/2"?

Here are a couple (would post more but these two took forever to upload ). I broke down and got a digital game cam...still didn't spend big money on the big name cameras...but this one takes some nice pics. Its a Wildview extreme 3...I chose it because of price and it uses an SD memory card (same kind my reg. digital camera takes).

Re: TURKEY TEAM #29 How long is your guy's season in Mississippi? Keep plugging at it...there is no shame in not killing a bird if you gave it your all. I've went several years without!

Re: Question of Character? I'd def. get the stands AND your trail camera out of there! No lock in the world can protect your camera. I like the idea of leaving a note....see if they actually come forward to claim their stands. Personally, if I find a stand on my property...I consider it MY stand. The only character in question would be the ones who trespassed!

Re: Pennsylvania Gun Registration Act!!! Well...what do you expect? Most hunters and gun owners in PA set in their chairs and watch tv during election time...while city slickers (Pittsburgh and Philly residents) get out and vote! This is why Randell is still gov. and Stantorum got replaced! This is going to be a much bigger battle if Clinton wins Pres.

Re: NY/PA hunters.... First week or last week...thats when I normally kill a bird! I will hunt every day of the season...and sometimes it comes down to the last day...last hour. I don't think there is a magic time...yeah it would be much easier (maybe) if we were hunting now...instead of 3 weeks from now. I've already seen gobblers with hens. Sorta like hunting the rut...hit and miss.

Re: Got a question? The problem with "sleep hunting" this bird is being patient...most folks can't sit still long enough to out smart these types of Toms. If you don't know he's coming in...its hard to sit quiet and motionless for hours on end. Good luck...they are tougher to get like this!

Re: dakota\'s story is out Yep...I got my mag earlier in the week...good read!

Re: Who\'s getting a deer mounted this year? Funny this thread popped up...got my elk back on Tues of this week. Turned out great, once I get him on the wall...I'll get some pics. of the 8pt. and elk posted. BTW, getting that elk on the wall is easier said than done. I have to go out and bring in the large extension ladder...move couch...climb up to around 15'...drill a pilot hole...screw in lag with washer....climb back down and get elk...climb up with elk and hang it on the lag! Sounds fun huh?

Re: gun register Ok...if you buy a handgun new or used...it must be registered and transfered. You will have to fill out a 4473 form for a background check (NICS) and then you will also fill out a "application/record of sale" form. The 4473 stays at the gun shop...and a copy of the "record of sale" form goes to the state police, a copy stays at the gun shop with the 4473, and the purchaser gets a copy for his/her records. If your buying a rifle/shotgun...only the 4473 form is filled out for a background check.

Re: Nascar has lost a good fan I think if they awarded more points and more money to the top 10 drivers each week...it would be more exciting! Heck they are paying out 50K to the very last car and getting points??????? Because the money isn't an issue to these drivers and owners and points are...they all just seem to ride around until 20 laps to go...then they try and race! I say shorten the races and award only to the top 10 finishers...or at least make it alot more points so its worth their wild to get up front and stay up front...instead of getting 5 bonus points and then moving over to let your teamate get 5 and so on!!!

Re: Martinsville I thought the two races with the COT were boring because we could have avoided watching hours of endless circles/comericals etc... and just watched the last 10 laps. Even the last 10 were boring because the only ones on the track were the #24 and #48...at least thats what I thought watching it on FOX! I was surprised to learn that all the other cars raced the entire race...I thought they all went to the pits to watch the end of the race. Guess if FOX would show some other cars the last 10 laps...I would have known. Oh...what the heck was the 10 or 15 lap caution all about? Lets see, DJ loses a wheel and Harvick catches on fire at or around the same time. Nascar picked up the wheel and they put out the fire...Harvick drove the car off the track, yet we had several (AT LEAST 10 LAPS) of caution...FOR WHAT?

Re: Biggest Biceps! I think someone should save this entire thread...so when some of these folks realize whats more important in life than looks...we can repost this for a good laugh!

Re: Remington 11-87 premier light contour... No one? This gun would cost you around $700 new...$630 dealer cost. Ok...it will be going to gunbroker...thought I'd give you folks a shot before sending it there!

Re: Martinsville I must say...its pretty bad when Nascar makes Martinsville boring!

Charles Daly choke ????????????????????
snapper replied to mo_hunter's topic in Shotguns & Accessories
Re: Charles Daly choke ???????????????????? Hevi 13 and other brands are still being made...however, I think Remington hevi-shot is no longer being made. There is some still out there floating around...but you better snag it up if you like shooting it. Yeah, a Rem choke will fit a Charles Daly gun...and I shot 3 1/2" 12ga. through a factory Rem. full turkey tube with great results and no damage to anything. Your experience may be different...its not recommended to shoot hevi-shot through a "lead" only tube...so use your best judgement. -
Re: gun register [ QUOTE ] Is this new? I heard that you didn't need to register a handgun here in PA?? [/ QUOTE ] Nope...not new, its been law in PA for some time...whoever told you that you don't is mis-leading you. All handguns must be registered...even if selling privately...must still (legally) contact an FFL holder and have the gun transfered to the new buyer. Rifles/shotguns...if its your personal gun...you can sell it without any paperwork/transfers/background check etc...
-
This gun is used, but I'd rate it 98%. Wood is beautiful...some very very light bluing marks on the barrel. They really aren't even noticable. Anyways, its a Rem. 11-87 Premier LC (light contour) 12ga. semi-auto. Has three chokes and wrench and will also ship in hard case. I have no pictures on the net of it...but can if anyone is interested. I'm asking $575 + shipping...all laws apply, MUST be shipped to FFL and I'll need a copy of that FFL lic. Thanks!

Re: gun register As an FFL holder and dealer...as of right now there is no state wide gun register in PA that I know of. There maybe a bill in the house/senate to try to make it a law...but nothing right now. You must register handguns....rifles/shotguns must pass a background check...but no registering.

Re: Need Quick Help If your using a shotgun...aim for the base of the neck. Head and neck are the main target for gun hunters. If your using a bow...facing you or strutting away from you...aim for the base of the neck or right up the rear. Its amazing how those tail feathers sorta make for a target...shoot for the small circle in the middle. If your using a bow and he offers a broadside shot...aim for where the wing attaches to the body...this shot will not only hit vitals...but also take out the wings so he can't fly. Sorry I can't help with a picture like you wanted...but I hope this helps!

Re: Lohmans #836 hot hen cutter mouth call Sorry wv...this post slipped past me! The catalog that I'm looking at is a wholesale catalog...I'm a gun dealer. So that isn't going to help you much...however, I could order some for you and ship them to you...but that wouldn't hardly be worth it! By the time I would order them...mark up to what I'd sell them for (which is very miminal) and pay shipping...you'd have X amount into them BEFORE I'd even ship them to you. Sorry, I'd say your best bet is to shop at local sporting good stores or online to a store that may have some on stock.
