  1. You'd think a good UPS man coulda deliverd them to your door! LOL
  2. Thinking I may have read your post to quickly...if your looking for something to dry out the "meaty/bone" area to prepare it for a mount...use the Borax. If its already done and your looking for something to put on it to protect it...not sure on that. I never put anything on my full turkey mounts or feathers...just give them a dusting once in a while.
  3. Borax is prob. the cheapest and easiest stuff anyone can get and works well. If you know a taxidermist or maybe even try calling one to see if they can give you some of the stuff they use. Not sure what the name of it is...but its also a white powder...little finer powder than Borax and seems to work a little faster. Borax will work fine though.
  4. Some of the prizes weren't all the same...only had a few of certain things and maybe one of this and one of that. I'm pretty sure everyone got the stickers...some got hat pins also, some got a card to print out free airel maps (btw...let us know how they work). Some didn't get the plates, but instead got a call or something of that nature. Wish it could have been more and wish more folks could have gotten something. Its just a little token of appreciation from Team Realtree for making this hunting site the best on the net!
  5. LOL....don't get to excited...its not much. Just a bunch of little extras!
  6. Happy birthday Jeff...how old are ya now? Gotta be pushing 50? lol
  7. Imagine the mess or worse if the women weren't there when you came out!

    Weekend plans????

Going to tinker around the house tom. (since work was canceled tonight), then spend all day Sat. with my brother on a quad ride. Sun. relax and watch the nascar race.
  9. Well all packages went out today (Thursday)...thanks again to all who participated in the turkey contest, door prize contest and just general participation in the forums. To the folks who missed out...I'm sorry, I had to set some sort of deadline or I could have been sitting on prizes for months. I wanted everything packaged and out the door...so did my wife (lol). Anyways, I had fun this year...hopefully we can do something like this "door" prize contest again.
  10. My .30-30 lever guns like Federal 125 gr. Hi-Shok Hollow points. Shoot great and kill deer...but I agree, you need to shoot different brands to see what your gun likes.
  11. Ok...I got Rhino, nysbuckmaster, and 257Roberts.
  12. Sorry wtnhunt...you were #8. I need pm's from the following folks with their names (real names) and home address... okiedog Ohiobucks Rhino Buckslayer Niterunner 257Roberts nybuckmaster Once I get all the names and addy's...I'll get these all sent out. Thanks to everyone again for participating in the contest and in the forums. Thank Scott for the "door" prizes...I wouldn't have been able to do this if he wouldn't have gave the stuff to me. Looking forward to next spring!
  13. Ok...I only got one pm from the 2nd round...so far I have Gus, MorganRaider, Bow Hunter Derek, Big_Country, and Moon. I really didn't think this would be so hard to GIVE stuff away...so what I'm gonna do now is...if you participated in the turkey contest and were not on the winning team and your name isn't listed above...reply to this thread if you want a door prize! I'm taking the next 7 folks who reply to this thread...doesn't matter if you were picked in the first or second round and missed it...as long as you were in the contest, not on the winning team and haven't already been confirmed a prize...reply!
  14. Xen...thats great news indeed!!!!!! Go ahead and order that shirt in pink now and post a picture with her wearing it....I'd love to see that. I'm sure Don will hold a spot for her future membership!
  15. Ok....prizes sent to Gus and Morgan Raider! I got Bow Hunter Derek and Big country in...that means the other 8 folks missed out...sorry. I'm picking 8 new names and they are... lil hunter fenderhunt 4 Rhino Covehntr Squirrelhunter91 M00N Hoyt_Hottie stellfox These folks now have 1 week and 1 day to PM me their name and home address. And no Rhino I didn't PM them...the whole idea behind the turkey contest is to add participation in the forums. The door prizes was an added bonus to get participation in this room in the off season.
  16. I know I said 1 week (thats today) but I really didn't think 10 outta 12 people wouldn't reply...so, I'm giving those 10 folks one more day. To keep it fair to the people who participated in the contest and STILL come to the forums...when I come in here tom....thats it...I'm picking different folks for those who hasn't pm'd me by then.
  17. Got it Martin...thanks. I was hoping to get a few more pm's so I didn't have to make 12 seperate trips to the post office...but its looking like I will getting something out to you and Gus in a day or so.
  18. Outta those 3 options...me personally I would go with the Weatherby Accumark in the .300 Weatherby. I like the Weatherby guns over Tikka or Rem. and I feel the .300 Weatherby is a superior cal. over the WSM's.
  19. I've also used my climber to hang "lock-ons"...however, if I can get my climber up that tree...I usally use my climber there to hunt. I normally hang lock on stands in trees where I can't get my climber into...so it isn't much help hanging the stand either. Screw in steps are cheaper and lighter to lug around...but for safety reasons...I'd rather use a stick ladder. Steps are easier to slip off of and I've seen them pull out of the tree before as well. They will work...but a ladder is a better and safer option IMO.
  20. So far I've only got a pm from Gus...if you don't want a door prize...pm me as well.
  21. Guess it depends on how your getting up to the stand. I prefer stick ladders...2 people make the job a little easier...but still isn't the easiest thing to do sometimes. We put the ladder together as we go up the tree (section by section)...then usally the other person climbs up under the first guy and hands them the lock-on to hang. You could also use a rope to get the stand up to where your hanging it. Some stands are easier because of how they hang ie: API baby grand...screw in T handle and let the stand rest on it until its strapped or chained. I also prefer to use an extra rachet strap and almost never trust noisy chains.

    Benelli JUNK

I think enough input has been made.
  23. Ok folks...in no particular order, I randomly picked 12 people for the door prizes. All I need is for them to PM me their name and home address. If one of the 12 decide they don't want the door prize...let me know and I'll pick another name out of the hat. Also, to be fair, I think a week should be enough time to PM me...if I don't hear from someone within a week....I'll pick another person. MorganRaider ksbowhuntr77 Gus Bow Hunter Derek KYLimbHanger christsavedme Griz buckbuster ljmelea BIG_COUNTRY RDNKHNTR77 1strut Thanks to everyone who participated in the contest this year...wish I could give everyone something!
  24. Yes...shotguns can pattern low, high, right, left etc... My turkey gun shot a little high and to the left...put on a red-dot scope and made adjustments just like a rifle. It patterns great now and wouldn't want another turkey gun. Cutting the gun up and sending it back will do nothing but short you $. You stated in another post how much the gun costs...so the $ is a little important. I'd sell it and cut your losses...there are folks here willing to buy it (KNOWING) what issues your having with it...sell it! You think Benelli will care if you cut it up? They already got your money...sorry you've had a bad experience with their product and customer service.
  25. I haven't forgotten...been real busy, went on vacation, computer troubles, shift change at work etc... However, rest assured I'm still on this and will be posting names of winners in this thread.
