    Miss?

Poll numbers are 48 to 14 that its a hit...guess we can exlplain it how we want to hear it...but 77% think its a hit!
  2. Only thing I'm aware of is case life...the nickel plated brass should last longer than standard brass. I'm sure it "hardeneds" the brass some, but I'm not sure if that has any merit for being better or worse.
  3. I use a bushnell trophy red dot and like it. The main reason I use a scope is because I'm shooting a really tight pattern out to 30 yards. When I shot the gun at a piece of cardboard, the hole wasn't hitting POA (point of aim). With the scope, I sighted it in like a rifle and got the most of my pattern hitting where the dot is. For all the bigger the scope is...it doesn't change the weight of the gun enough to matter. Only disadvantage I see is a posible battery death during the moment of truth!

    Miss?

If you pay an outfitter to hunt and you draw blood...most cases you still pay and are done hunting. Guessing they wouldn't charge you and force you to stop hunting if it were a "miss".
  5. Ok, he broke the law...but maybe 15K and jail for a stinkin' buzzard? Geez, could get less of a fine for killing a human!
  6. .25-06 is a great cal.....however, you already have a .300 win, it will do anything the .25-06 will do PLUS. No such thing as overkill!
  7. 99E or 99E Carbine? 99E - .22 Hi Power, .250-3000 Sav., .30-30 Win., .300 Sav., or .303 Sav. cal. MFG. 1922-34. 100%- $850 98%- $700 95%- $600 90%- $475 80%- $400 70%- $350 60%- $300 99E Carbine- .243 Win., .250 Sav., .300 Sav., or .308 Win. cal. MFG 1960-82. 100%- $375 98%- $340 95%- $300 90%- $270 80%- $250 70%- $200 60%- $175 These are out of the 26th edition blue book. Value is just what someone will pay...I seen at auctions some 99's sell for a rediculous amounts.
  8. Wow....congrats! Is that a "hunter" call or a "case queen"? I think I'd have a hard time taking that out in the field!
  9. Recoil is realitive to the shooter...I started out on a .270 feather weight at the age of 12...and I was a little kid! I seen in a recent "boar hunter" mag. a picture of an 8 year old (yes I said 8 year old) who shot a pig with a 7mm STW. I would think just about any woman could handle a .270. Although a .243 does have less felt recoil...shot placement is key. Its key on any cal. but the smaller the bullet...the more key it becomes. I wouldn't personally recommend any thing smaller than a .25 cal. for a beginner. I have a .25 WSSM that shoots great and does a good job on deer. There are alot better options than a .243 (although it will work).
  10. Agree...if you can't shoot it...then don't! The issue I have is this guy is apparently a no one and he's telling us that these guns are "unpleasant" to shoot. Well..... Here's his cocoa, now get back on the porch!!!!
  11. I have an older Ruger M77 in .250 savage! Great deer cal. and great varmint cal. Very little felt recoil, fast, flat shooting gun. This gun has taken many, many deer...wouldn't hesitate to recommend it for a deer cal.
  12. Shame it was sold before he got my PM. Darn purty firearm right there!!
  13. Why are you selling it? Just curious.
  14. Prayers are with you, your sister and rest of your family!
  15. Heck...you should come to PA and hunt rifle season if someone thinks 3/4 of a mile apart is too close...LMAO! Most deer around here won't travel that far to get to a food source...with winters cold temps....they conserve as much energy as posible.
  16. I got a Leupold and Nikon's...although the Leupold is a great scope (no complaints)....the Nikon Buckmaster is just as clear and never had a problem with it either, plus the Nikon is a little cheaper. $300 will buy pretty good glass...just about everything mentioned will suit your needs.
  17. I do what Strut does...maybe not 50/50...but close. Never had an issue with sound. I have a few calls in the fridge that are over 4-5 years old. I also buy new ones if the time is right. They don't cost that much and if I find a call that I like...I'll try to get the same thing again.
  18. I like the vette...just not practical for what you pay and insurance...not to mention the speeding tickets. LOL....I do both, but married!
  19. Way cool...glad everything went good with Braden. I know the Pens do that alot at Children's...I've never seen them there in all the trips we had. Maybe some other time...should start taking the camera...lol.
  20. We are trying the first Sat. this year...so I guess I'll try and hook up with ya Tim!
  21. Remington is coming out with a 700 BDL chambered in .257 Weatherby for 2008. Great action and a great little cal....its sure to be a real shooter! That being said...bigger is always better!
  22. Chain saw is lighter and easier to carry than a ladder. Seen it done before...smashed the stand into the ground. So someone lost a tree stand and a tree all for nothing.
