Agree with Jim here...alot of folks forgot why this country is the greatest country...Capitalism PERIOD. When did it become wrong to make money? Why does the greed of the ones who don't have the money feel its their right to have some of it? Don't get me wrong, I hate paying these prices for gas...but I do and really don't complain about it...I sure the heck don't want our goverment doing anything about price fixing. Heck if that happens, we'll only to be allowed to get gas on odd and even days! I really love when I hear folks like Hillary and Obama talk about the profits of Exxon mobile. They can preach it, because they know the average oatmeal filled head out there listening won't take the time to actually see who owns Exxon Mobile.

And lets not forget the "liberal whacko's" who also voted to go to war (scary Clinton herself).

No April fools...its true! He isn't leaving the forums...just don't want to moderate any longer. Maybe I'm wrong, but I respect his decision and won't try to guilt him into coming back as a mod.

Ummm you'd have to win ALOT of races to gain any "real" lead come chase time. Like I said before...all a team has to do is make the chase right now. Even if they make the chase in 12th place...they still will be close enough to 1st with 10 races to go to win it all. Yeah a win here and there will help...but not needed. I don't exactly agree with Tony and Jr's chemistry...but Mr. Hendrick isn't stupid...he wouldn't have hired Tony if not for a good reason!
-
All they have to do is make the chase...then worry about winning...this isn't rocket science. Felt bad for Stewart (although I'm not a fan), he had a good car and was def. in for a top 3 finish. Glad to see Harvick took credit for the accident and Stewart didn't make a hugh deal about it...you could tell he bit his lip in that interview. The media wanted to make more out of it...but those two being friends...certainly changed that.

The post count should be considered only because it shows the difference in "members" of this forum compared to folks who just want in a contest for a chance of winning something. These contests are setup to generate more members and traffic in the forums. Great way to meet new folks and maybe make life long friends. What we do in the turkey contest is make a post count restriction (50) and allow so much time when teams are picked for "every" member to check in with their team. If they don't show to at least let their team know that they are participating...then they are deleted and an alternate is added in their place! You'll still get some no shows from time to time for reasons out of anyones control (after all, we all still have lives outside of this forum).

Turkey contest alternates needed!!!!
snapper replied to Strut10's topic in Announcements & Online Contests
I believe Strut and I agreed on giving at least 2 weeks for everyone to check in with their team. If after 2 weeks a team has one or more folks who aren't showing any interest in the contest or their respective teams and the team agrees its an issue...then is when the alternates will come into play...you'll be placed on the team that the no show was on. -
Thats what I was going to ask. If your shooting fixed blade heads...I'd make sure to spin test them to make sure everything is lined up. Think of things this way...every component on the head has a tolerance when made...maybe +- .003...same for the inserts...maybe +- .003...same for arrow shafts...vanes/feathers...nocks. I don't know all the tolerances but you could be like .020 out of round depending on heads/inserts. Since they fly good with field points...I'd try (if they are fixed heads) changing some of broadheads to different arrows...spin test to see if they spin true or off. If they spin true they should fly true...if they still don't...then may need to take your bow and have checked. I used to shoot thunderheads...might only find 1 or 2 outta a pack of 6 that spun true. I'd use the others for practice!

The white gold medallion is a purdy gun for sure...its also a little more $ than the Rem. But outta those two guns, I'd personally go with the Browning.
-
Isn't a .30-06 a little overkill for yotes and ground hogs? Def. would work...just would be alot cheaper to shoot .243 or a varmint size load. Anyway, congrats on your new addition!
-
Ballisticly speaking...your not gaining much from the .270 to step up to a .30-06. I use a .300 wm for deer and took an elk with it. Outta the options you asked...I'd go with the .300 wm. Your sorta in a pickle if you have your heart set on that particular gun, bc your right about options in .300 wsm loads. What about the 700 sps stainless? Its offered in 7mm rum, .300 wm, .300 rum and the .300 wsm and a few hundred less dollars!
-
Good example John...however, your line of sight doesn't take into consideration of gravity. Your bullet does...how many folks know exactly where there bullet will hit at 283 yards?
-
Honestly...can't really go wrong with an after market choke tube designed for turkey loads. I'd be willing to bet that the Kick's tube will out perform the factory tube. Every gun is different...even in same make and models. Gotta try different chokes and loads to find what your gun likes.

Thats because not many people like Kyle Busch and Dale Jr. is the fan favorite...really don't believe it had anything to do with what make of car they drive. Heck, no one cheered last year when Kyle won in a chevy driving for Hendrick...but still cheered for Jr. when he crashed in a chevy. I only speak the truth Nick...you can disagree...but you'd be wrong based on facts. GM seen Toyota's out selling American cars...so they figured if they can't beat them...might as well join them! If your unhappy about Toyota's being sold in the US and in Nascar...you'd have to put just as much blame on GM as the average US citizen who buys them. Even blame our Goverment...the Japanesee didn't sneak into the US and open plants to build Toyota's here. On a side note...Toyota's and other foriegn cars/trucks are in the US and being made/sold in the US...like it or not. There are much bigger things in life than to worry about what your neighbor drives!
-
I'm sure GM is getting some of those kick backs as well, seeing how they already have their hands in the cookie jar with Toyota! Give it a few more years and Mazda will be in Nascar with Ford getting some kicks as well.
-
Shame you didn't have a belt fed .50...now that would be fun esp. with tracers!
-
Nice little light gun to carry and shoot...I have no complaints with my Winchester .25 wssm. Glad you say you reload, bc I have no real good results shooting factory Winchester ammo outta mine. Reword that...the ammo shoots good...just not real happy with the performance on whitetails. Always killed what I shot...but the bullets never seemed to open up. Can't go wrong with a Winchester model 70 in my opinion!
-
Kinda thought a Toyota winning was funny...figured all the die hard "american" made fans were kicking and screaming like little school girls. I hated seeing little Busch win....but got a good laugh at Tony's comments about the Goodyear tires. He got 2nd place, no right fronts blowing out like in the past = good safe race...and he still whined!
-
Just for the record...I think this is a legit question and here's why. A guy I work with rags on me for using a .300 win for deer...saying things like "you don't need that big of a gun" or "why a win mag for deer?" When I try to explain its because of where and how I hunt...I want the speed and energy for the distance I may have to shoot. Faster bullet means flater shooting at longer ranges. He laughs and continues on his ragging. However, this same guy buys a new bow (if not every year) at least every other year. When I ask him why he wastes so much money on new bows...he says tech. I come back with "tech. usally means a faster bow right"...his reply is a Yes! He has his limbs burried at 75 lbs. shooting well over 300 fps! I just laugh and walk away asking myself...its ok for him to do it...just not me. Different tools...but used the same, to acomplish simular tasks!

Turkey contest alternates needed!!!!
snapper replied to Strut10's topic in Announcements & Online Contests
turkeynutz64...after seeing this post and you only had 72 posts, my first thought was that you may not have had at least 50 posts by signup deadline and was deleted. After doing some digging...I see you would have had enough posts and wouldn't have gotten deleted. So I went back into the contest sign-up thread and scanned through all those who signed up hoping we didn't miss you some how. However, I didn't see your sign-up anywhere. So I guess I need to ask...where exactly did you sign up at? Strut and I both printed out the sign up thread, so I can't see how you signed up in the correct place and we both missed it? All I can say is sorry, don't know what happened. -
Yeah since he invented the internet and all!
-
Don't watch it...but by the sounds of it, if you don't lie and have nothing to hide...seems like an easy way to make $.
-
Ditto Jody...I assume the mods. copy are in the mail? LOL
-
The teams were picked by the me and Strut based off of who posted that they wanted in. There was a sign up thread in the contest room...sorry you missed it, if you don't get in as an alternate...maybe next year.

I wouldn't put to much stock into references...the outfitter usally only uses names of folks who they know will say only good things. Usally guys that got lucky enough to harvest or became good friends with the outfitter. If you still wish to contact them...I'd ask things that are important to you...such as maybe kind of stands, locations of stands, how many hunters hunted the same stand etc... May also ask about guides, how hard did they try, were they friendly and seem knowledgable. Can't leave out the lodging...how many hunters in a room, food good and enough? Just think about the kind of questions you'd ask the outfitter him/herself and ask the references the same type of questions. Good luck.
