Nice bird Don...didn't know you took time off from work. If your still off and want to hunt (call), I'll be home at 7:30am tom. morning to go out...lol Guess if your not here...I'll go at it alone! I didn't make it out today (had to take dog to the vet) but had a few close encounters with a couple of jakes on Mon. (wet) morning. Give it a shot tom. Great pictures btw.

Congrats on a fine bird....great story and pics. as well!

RCR is running a forth car next year and Tony wants to drive a Chevy...hmmmmm?
-
Only Tony and his PR people know whats going on...the media is speculating. He and Harvick are good friends...wouldn't be surprised to see him in the 4th RCR car next year, IF he does leave JGR. The 4th RCR car is still up in the air (at least for us, I'm sure Childress has a good idea who will be in it)...I still think it will be Scott Wimmer...but this Stewart thing could change things up.

He resigned...lets thank him for his job he did and respect his decision. Why do folks have to beat these things into the ground like a dead horse. The board didn't get rid of Mr. Keck...he resigned and they accepted his resignation. Thats it...move on!

These checks are a joke...they aren't going to help the economy...nothing can fix it. It WILL fix itself...these checks aren't enough money to do anything to help boost the economy. Most folks I know aren't going out to just spend it...it will go towards bills or thrown in the bank.

Didn't even hear a gobble...heard one hen around 9:30...but I honestly think it was another hunter...hard to tell. Pretty dull morning for me...heard a few shots in the morning...guessing they were misses. 1 shot...then 2 quick shots...guess first shot was a miss then 2 poke and hope shots. Try it again Mon. morning, calling for rain all night and tom. here.

I'm planning on it...haven't checked with the wife for a schedule. I know pudd is planning on going as well...but still up in the air because of another "stripper" torney.

They roll quite nicely on two pieces of pvc pipe...two guys can easily move up to an 800 pound safe. I got three in my basement (6' french doors)...two of them are around the 500-600 mark...the other took 4 guys to stand it up from its back. I like the Liberty/Champion line of safes...but there are alot of good ones out there. Cannon and Fort knox were in the running...but got a better deal on the others.

I'd like to get one more full mount...full strut!

I'm sure your buddy is looking down with that "I knew you could get it back" look! You done him proud! Nice looking birds...congrats.

Yeah, I missed out on shooting that horse that knocked open the hinge plate on every shot....lol. I wanted to shoot that thing...just don't know how or why I didn't. Wasn't til pudd and I were on our way home when I realized I didn't shoot it.

Got a feeling you'll be saying that some day over that 9422. But hey, if your happy now and the person who bought it is happy...then its a good deal. Some folks don't have "safe queens" and others do...if you do not, then you prob. made a good deal.

Can't believe I wasn't on your list...tisk tisk tisk!

Happy birthday....now quit reading and start posting! Hope you have a great day.

I don't see a prob. with it....haven't talked to pudd. But with the summer and new boat, I have a feeling he and his boy will be on the lake alot this summer.

Sorry, I have no experience with this scope...heck, I'm not even sure I've heard of it. Good luck with it...those turkey loads can have some recoil esp. 3 1/2". Let us know how it works for ya!
-
Leave it up to the PA boys to pull that through...lol Actually it was the outstanding "guide" service we had! Reading through this brings back some great memories. Thanks again Steve...can't ever thank you enough for your hard work.

Cool pics...those jakes sure are full of themselves aren't they. Hopefully there is a big guy just off screen that your camera didn't pick up! I also been out looking for sheds...no luck on that either!

New to bowhunting turkeys any suggestions on decoy setups
snapper replied to a topic in Turkey Hunting
Just about any broadhead out there will do the job if placed right...however, there are broadheads made for turkey. They don't allow the arrow to pass the entire way through the bird which is what you'll prob. get with "normal" bowhunting broadheads. As for decoy's...should be able to place them the same as you have in the past for shotgun. -
I've been out a few times...seeing some birds, but they aren't very vocal here yet. Neighbor just plowed his field next to me (sooner than usal) been seeing the birds out there feeding...only one strutter that I seen. Looks like I'm not making it out this year for the youth season...pudds boy (his last year as a youth) has a bass torn. the same weekend.

Start off close (10 yards) and sight it in there. Like said earlier...further back you go the more you'll be off. If majority of your pattern is hitting left...it most likely won't correct itself at 35 yards. I like the idea of using bird shot to save money...however, your turkey loads may not shoot the same as a low brass 7 shot. I sighted in with the loads/choke that I was planning on hunting with.

Oh...I wasn't putting the BBB down, I agree they all have their place. I was curious what one cost because I had no idea. You were comparing the motor (power) to a 400cc class atv...so I was curious on price. A bigger atv 600-800cc is a few g's less and a gas side by side is a few g's more. Guess they all have a place. I don't haul 4 people and don't have that kind of gear that an atv couldn't haul if I used mine for hunting. To be honest...the only real advatage I see with the BBB is the quiet motor. Other than that...I'd rather play on an atv...if I wanted to work...I'd rather have a side by side with a bigger gas motor ie: (Kaw. Trex 750 Vtwin). Just my thoughts and opinions. Thanks Derek

Some great input in this thread...couple of questions that I didn't see touched on. BHDerek...you compare the BBB to (or around) a 400cc atv...whats the price difference in the two...How much does a BBB run? Also, what do you do if your battery dies out on a trail in the middle of nowhere? Just curious...never had any experiences with one...don't really have a need for it.

Funny...seems that the economy is doing well everywhere unless you listen to the media. Other than fuel prices and the rise of some other things...life hasn't changed much. Job is good (actually hiring), seems alot of places around here are hiring as well. Guess because folks have to pinch a little tighter to pay fuel prices...the rest of the economy has to go to the tank.
