  1. Hmmmmmm....interesting....still a bargin of a hunt at the current bid.
  2. Hmmmmm...how fast do you suppose it would take to grow back? I believe Tim is scheduled to be at Sportsman warehouse next weekend in Pittsburgh...may have to take a road trip with camera in hand!
  3. I dunno...I can't see how it could fit me after you streched it out!
  4. I ain't got a handgun that I feel I could ring the steel at 600 yards with...but I'd sure love to try and ring it at 300 with a 1911 .45acp and open sights!
  5. I have a older (pre-accutrigger) savage 112 with a heavy stainless fluted barrel in .22-250 and a newer 700 sps varmint in .204. Both guns are pretty much stock...if I were shooting on a bet...the 700 wouldn't leave the safe. The Savage is a "go to" tack driver with even factory ammo. To be fair...I've been behind the Savage a heck of alot more than the Rem.
  6. The wife don't hunt...but she'd like to go to Alaska...hmmmmmm, what would there be for her to do if I were to bid?

    ?

And we do have at least one woman that I know of in our group!
  8. Welcome aboard....happy to have another member who has seen the light!
  9. Cool...tell Randy I like the rainbow band on his ear muffs...LOL
  10. I'd opt for the .300...out performs the .270 and would make a better elk, moose, bear gun than the .270. Plus, it will drop deer as well! On the orginal topic...maybe you should think about shooting at targets (paper) out to 300-500 yards before shooting at game.
  11. Hmmmmmmmm...may have to look into this next year. Decided to keep my 3/4 ton crew a tad longer and got the wife a new Subaru. Guess it will depend on how much more $ the diesel motor will cost.
  12. Great pictures Jeff...thanks for sharing!
  13. I don't buy that...Tony wants to win every race he's in no matter what kind or make of car. Thats what these guys love to do. I agree Tony wasn't happy about the whole deal...but I honestly don't think he'd throw a race for anything. As for the money...I was refering to racing. Busch has made more money for Gibbs than Jr. has for Hendrick. I believe (not positive) the drivers get most if not all $ dealing with marketing their picture and/or signature. Sponsor stuff...not to sure. The drivers sign a contract with the owners for set money and with bonuses for winning, finishing in chase and winning championships. I'm not a Jr. hater...but he still hasn't won anywhere close to the number of races the 24, 48 or even the 3...let alone close to a championship. So even though he maybe ahead of the 24 and 48 in points right now...the season isn't over and he still hasn't proved anything yet.
  14. I heard 22 more hp...however, if that is true, how come the other Toyota's aren't winning 7 races? Heck the #20 car is from the same garage with (IMO) a better driver and he isn't winning races! I just think Kyle has something to prove to Rick Hendrick and turned up his game this year. Lets face it...Kyle has gotten more money for Joe and JD Gibbs this year so far than Dale Jr. has gotten for Rick Hendrick. I don't like Kyle Busch either (not because he drives a Toyota) but he is flat out driving this season and no one can take that away no matter what they think.
  15. They will work and prob. never give you any issues. I prefer steel rings and bases...more than likely the Weaver rings and bases on your Savage are alum. I also use Leupold or Burris rings and bases for the most part.
  16. I believe another issue with the "natural" blind is that folks would be moving rocks, sticks, cutting limbs etc... on state land. That would just set off another issue with tree huggers and eviromentalist. I know it was said about the blind not concealing you 100% and I believe that was their argument...but I also think the moving and cutting of the "natural" stuff was another issue. Prob. easier to throw a blanket rule out there instead of saying...you can't use natural blinds on state land...but you can on private? We do have some screwed up laws!
  17. Camo gun is NOT needed to kill a turkey...just nothing that puts off a glare...flat black will work just as well as camo. That said, camo just looks alot cooler though. Personally...I'd go camo, but black will work just fine.
  18. I personally thought the race was boring...I don't care for restrictor plate races. After about an hour...I shut the tv off and went to bed! Congrats to the 18 team...they are def. running good right now...like him or not.
  19. I only lock tite my bases...never the rings.
  20. I dunno...I kinda gained a little more respect for Edwards for his post race attitude. Said, it was a sad day and he didn't like winning the way he did...thats why he didn't do a celabration flip (kinda makes sense to me). He never does burnouts....although a drag racer prob. wouldn't care about a burnout...I think Edwards didn't do one out of respect for the family. I say a big hats off to Edwards to show the respect to the family...and the respect to a fellow driver who he moved out of the way to get the win.
  21. Not a real "fan" of the Glocks...but outta those choices...its prob. your "best" gun.
  22. Nick...there is a thread (NHL) with about 950 replies. You can read it all or just skip to the end to see about the cup finals.
  23. Boy them Toyota's (at least the 18 car) are looking good! Kinda funny, before the season...everyone ruled out Gibbs racing bc of Kyle and Toyota's...guess they were wrong. And everyone thought of Hendrick as being the "dream" team now with Jr. on board...hmmmmm, how many races has the Hendrick boys won combined? LMAO.
  24. I was looking to sell it...but I don't think I'll get my money back out of it! Guess its off to the smiths for a looking over and then I'll see how it shoots? Its not as bad as it seems...just isn't what I thought it was or what he said it was. Kinda my fault for not walking up and looking at it when they started the auction for it. I knew I didn't see the gun he said it was...so it kinda caught me off guard. Oh well, win a few, lose a few!
  25. I did some looking up and it seems the dust stuff is about the best option and plugging the holes. However, it won't kill off the eggs if she already layed and closed of the chambers. They'll hatch and bore out another way. I did read on the net about spray WD40 in the hole...it won't kill them, but they can't fly and fall to the ground where you can step on them. From what I've read...only the females have stingers and rarely use them. The males are the ones flying around buzzing you...but are harmless. Painting isn't an option...although I don't think thats full proof either. We do treat the house (stain/poly mix) but it don't stop them. Another thing I read that may work...but not really an option for me with the log house...is to staple strips of screen (metal wire kind, not plastic/fabric) and paint two or three coats over the screen. Guess it would be hard to see (if at all) and they couldn't bore through it. I don't know...Terminix is coming out again on Wens morning...we'll see what he has to say!
