I plan every hunt by weather.com and wunderground.com. Weather.com was the website that showed NE all day Saturday. Enjoyed being in the woods this weekend, but I've got a bad feeling about this year. I might have to do some scrambling around. The mast crop isn't as good as last year and the deer aren't hitting them like last year. I think the drought is going to make it challenging for me this year.

Hunted for 3 1/2 hours this morning. No sightings but I'm pretty sure it was because of the wind. I hunted the Triangle stand due to the expected NE wind. Only problem was that once on stand, the wind decided to blow from the SW. At 7:15 a deer busted my to the NE and blew a few times and then left. Finally, at 9:00 a.m. the wind switched to the NE. A little too late, though. Still had a great morning sitting in my stand. Boy did I miss season.

User error. Never reset it from last year....just stuck batteries in it and hung it on a tree.LOL Can't wait for the morning. Will be in a tree watching the sun rise and hopefully following a blood trail not too long after.

Checked my last camera tonight. I've got several does hitting my trophy rock. Should be a good area come the rut. On a bad note, they've started thinning the pine plantation where my honey hole is located. Which will help me come gun season, but will hurt me because it will allow fellow lease members who tend to spotlight, to overhunt my spot. Taking off work tomorrow to scout my new lease. Drove it with a buddy of mine Saturday but didn't get out of the truck much. Looks great. It's actually 4,000 acres but borders some Core land(public). I would estimate there is around 3,000 acres of Core land between our lease and Little River. There are 4 roads that go through our land to reach the river but we're allowed to gate off 3 of those. We should have around 6,000 or so acres that are only reachable by our gated roads or the river. Excited! It's not very often that I get to hunt new land.

A guy gets pulled over for speeding in Hochatown, Oklahoma. The Oklahoma Highway Patrolmen decides to give the guy a warning, but before he does, he walks to the back of the truck to view the license plate and takes a glance in the back of the truck. He then gets on the phone and calls the game warden. It was September 18th, a little less than two weeks before the opening of deer season in McCurtain County. What was in the back of the truck? A big 9 point......a big 8 point......and a spike. From what I'm hearing, the guy should expect around a 20 grand fine. The saddest part of this whole ordeal is the sympathy this guy is getting from Facebook. It's kind of ironic, but it seems everyone in this county relates poaching to speeding.

Just fawn pics and a missing SD card from my game camera trip. Will head back out this weekend and check them again.

Looking forward to this year! Just joined a 5,000 acre lease about 30 minutes North of here. Only 20 members on it. That along with my current lease, the local Refuge and my own 180 acres, should keep me busy. Also, hope to have some pics to post Sunday evening. Going to check my two trail cams that I put out Monday.

I'll be missing it as well. The bank has a booth set up at the local fairgrounds. If we volunteer to work it for 4 hours an evening, we get a day off at work.....I need all the hunting days I can get!
