  1. So true, and one of the best tips anyone can give. Only if they are in the wide open. In the woods or on the edge of the field brushed in like they should BE, the deer will trip over you. Color contrast is what catches the deer eyes. Break the silhouette of the blind the best you can. That is key when using a game blind for deer hunting. Here is a pic of our game blind this past NY 2010 turkey season. We took 2 big mature gobblers from this blind. The last one at 11 yards. Be advised that this set up wont fly during bow season as the color contrast between the blind and surrounding landscape is way, WAY off. Although I had a deer walk in from behind me and bed down for 4 hours within 30 yards of the blind. If you care to watch the video of the last bird shot this past season from our Doghouse blind, here it is. PS: I am filming through the mesh screen so don't go full view on the video........
  2. I totally agree with you 100%. I have 2 of them cuz I love them so much. Very easy to put up and take down, and very light weight to carry in. Mine is water repellent and is a pretty good wind breaker too. They do however have to be brush in. As far as scent control, I have had coyotes and deer walk within 10 yards of the blind this past NY turkey season including a deer that bedded down 30 yards behind me. That deer layed there for 4 hours, while I hunted, drinking coffee and even taking 2 pee's inside the blind. The wind was swirly that day and blew from all directions. I only keep one window open when hunting and that window is covered with shoot through mesh. You can get these blinds for about $50.00 on ebay or in my case in New Hartford, NY for about $60.00. Here is a pic of my last set up during the NY spring 2010 turkey season. The same spot were that deer bedded behind me.
  3. We are talking about geese and ducks.
  4. I have had it happen to me a few, including on the last day of the season during the last hour of the season.
  5. Tomorrow is my last day. My son got 2, I got 0.
  6. Yeah finally starting to see them all over. Looks to be a good year.
  7. Gobblers down here are already grouping back up. Good luck TG.
  8. It's mostly all I do hunt from. We bagged 2 turkeys this year from our blind so far. You can watch the videos of the hunts we recorded from the blind.

    Too Pushy?

Only new taxidermists with very little work experience could pull something like this off. Even the big outfits with several employees cant return a mount this fast.
  16. Stay away from the kits. Invest in the videos. Lots of videos on Youtube also that cover this subject. http://taxidermy.net is definitely the way to go if you want to learn something about taxidermy.

She must do very little business, if she told you to check back in 3 months. That's just unheard of in this profession. She has to be tanning her own hides if she gave you that time frame. Why in the world she would give you a 3 month turn-a-round time is beyond me.
