Here's my '06 Oklahoma public land bow kill. I did everything myself, but ordered the base. I enjoyed doing the habitat. If you look closely, you can see a couple hoof imprints in the dirt. Looks a little better in person, if I do say so myself....

Ever notice how "everyone else" goes deeper into the woods to get away from the crowd??? Try hunting just on the edge of the land. I hunt public land and hunt 100 yards off the road. I've see and had my share of mature bucks well within bow range, but just can't get a shot off. You don't have to go deeper than everyone else because everyone else has the same mindset...they're going deeper. Stay close to the truck.....it makes for a shorter drag.

Re: OKLAHOMANS READ! I agree w/ dogdoc. I could have easily shot 3 bucks this year, but I have restraint....something a lot of Oklahoma hunters don't have. I only shot one though. I think we will see some bigger bucks in the future if it passes.

Re: Most memorable post of 2006 Don't have a most memorable. All I can say is I still talk to RyanH and consider him one of my best friends. Not everyone here knows the whole story, but the "whole story" is part of the reason I'm not on RT as much any more.

Have you had any experience?? I buy/sell all of my college textbooks on half.com, which is a site that is ran by ebay. I bought one book last semester that was not exactly as it was described, so I left the seller negative feedback and a reason of WHY I left negative feedback. Now remember, I made promt payments and caused NO problems or anything, but the seller gave me negative feedback. I should have then gotten a refund. I did see on my feedback that the seller has been removed from half.com, but my feedback rating is 95.7% (instead of 100%) because of someone that didn't like me giving negative feedback when they deserved it!!!! Just irks the fire out of me. I sent ebay a message, seeing if they'll retract the feedback rating.....

Anyone know of a decent photoshop program I can download? I had one (before I reformatted my harddrive) that lightened, darkened, sharpened, had red-eye removal, etc. I just have some pictures I need to edit before I have prints made. Thanks!!

I shot a doe on Friday evening. Made a bad shot, due to the fact that she knew I was in the area and she was on high alert. As soon as I shot, she turned away from me and I heard my Muzzy nail the shoulder blade. I watched her run 100 yards and just stand in one place for 5 minutes. After she finally left, I got down and found my arrow, which did happen to pass through. I found where she was standing and marked it, then headed back to the house. I went to see if I could find her 3 hours later, but lost the trail and spent an hour trying to find it. I decided to go back in the morning, but still couldn't find the trail. I FINALLY stumbled across the blood trail again, followed it for a good 200 yards, struggling from time to time, but was finally able to recover my deer. I would guess she traveled close to 400 yards. I know SEVERAL guys that would have given up hours before I did. Turns out I must have hit her on the front half of her scapula (shoulder blade) and it must have exited at the front of her shoulders/base of her neck. Not a shot I'm proud of, but it's something that couldn't have been avoided. I know next time not to voice grunt at a deer on high alert, but I made a good effort and recovered my deer.

Re: Do you just breast them and what recipee? I just breast all the ones our clients kill. As for recipes....good luck?? The best way I've had it has been on a kabob wrapped in bacon, cooked on the grill. Do not over cook....medium rare, medium at most.

I have had several 40-60 year old classmates, so you're still a kid to them. Definately not too late, but it WILL be HARD work, no doubt about it. I have a buddy that's studying geology at OSU to get into the oil field. Don't get too focused on the almighty dollar though...I've seen too many people change over that little insignificant piece of paper. Good luck!!!

Looking for a good place to buy grasses, leaves, etc. Actually, I'm going to buy some preserved Oak Leaves from Matuska supply, but need some preserved grasses. Any suggestions???

Re: A Driving tip for the Unwise I was behind some idiot going under the speed limit in the fast lane one night, so I tail-gated him for a while (not too close....in case they brake check ya) and when he didn't get the picture, I flashed my brights right into his rearview. He still didn't get the picture, so I turned on my brights and left them on until he got in the correct lane and then flew by him....made my blood boil.

Re: Dishonest buddy One of my best friends is exacly like him! It gets real old, but when you confront him about it, he gets VERY defensive and still denies it. Does your buddy react similarly???
