  1. Nonsense. Y'all said the same thing 4 years ago and I said the same thing, and I still have all the guns I started with in 2008. I'm not a Obama supporter at all, but some of you just go off the deep end way too much. IMHO
  2. So, if you have a headlight go out, and find out that the bulb isn't burned out, what would the next step be? 2007 Saturn Outlook. Thanks for any help. BTW--noticed I've got one out on the Silverado too. :bang:
  3. Awesome! Maybe I should book a hunt. We could call it "survivor's hunt" lol. Good job Steve.
  4. I got skunked in the morning yesterday, then a doe and 2 fawns in the evening. My buddy witnessed a pretty good 7pt chasing a doe right at quitting time last night. Not much really moving in my area.
  5. You can make your check out to Buckeye Valley East Food Pantry and send it to me at the following address: Chris Pileski Buckeye Valley East Food Pantry - 901 Coover Rd Delaware, OH. 43015 The food pantry is associated with our school district, so they don't have their own website, but here's a link if you want to check it out: Buckeye Valley East Elementary Donations are greatly appreciated. The Food Pantry does have a tax exempt status, so it is a tax deductible donation in case you want to claim it.
  6. This is awesome! Good luck!
  7. Congrats again man. Nice deer. Thanks for the story.
  8. It's that time of year. You never know what will come cruising by...
  9. That's a good one Tommy! How about the story ??? You giving Kyle or Devin a call on that one?
  10. I've been challenged by my students to participate in No Shave November. I've agreed to not shave for the month of November if the student body and faculty can raise $100 per week. The proceeds of the fund raiser will be donated to a young lady in our school who was recently diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, AND she broke her arm in a recent auto accident...AND her dad recently lost his job. I know I tend to whine about my situation a lot, but watching Amy bravely battle on is pretty humbling.
  11. Watched a show the other night where a woman was trying to pull her bow back. It was sad and comical watching her struggle to break that thing over, lol.
  12. 3 deer in the patch Wednesday morning.
  13. That little buck hounding a doe last Sunday, (21st), that was in Hanover, haven't hunted since. No road kill in the last 2 weeks. 3 deer in my field as I pulled out to go to work this morning. 1 was definitely a doe, couldn't tell on the other 2. 1 appeared to be a fawn. Rink said he saw a few good ones chasing in Avon Lake as he was responding to calls with the hurricane. Think I'm going to take Monday off and hit it hard Friday-Monday. Should be getting going. First week in November is always prime, and with the weather clearing up, should be in it.

Good deal Jason. Fun killing them on your own property, better than other property IMHO. I've been trying to kill one on my land this year. Finally get to get out Friday I think.
  15. If it lasts past a year, it gets made into jerky.
  16. I have one of Ross' pieces of art, and as soon as you pick it up, you'll know it's special. Highly recommended. You won't be sorry.
  17. Pen raised birds are pretty stupid. In my estimation, I'd say 98% of them are killed by hunters on the first day. The other stragglers fall to predation and hunters within the week or so. Wild birds are pretty tough if you don't have a dog. I usually wait for a snow so that I can track them. I've been fairly successful with that strategy over the years since selling my dog. Believe it or not, I've actually been able to pattern a few pheasants. They tend to do the same thing time and time again. 3 birds come to mind. 1 bird's defense was to sit so tight you had to nearly step on him to get him to move. Did that 3 or 4 times to him before the season started, got him on the first snow that year. The 2 I shot 2 years ago would loop out 100 yards, then back track to their original spot. Got both of them when after being bamboozled 3 times, I cut them off and caught them mid backtrack. Dropped both of them on Christmas day. The 3rd one got away as the limit is 2 in Ohio. Another one I remember was this bird that would run to the end of the property, fly across a picked bean field, land in the far fenceline and backtrack towards the field. My buddy got him as I posted him on the fenceline and slowly walked the bird right too him.
  18. Just another gimmick IMHO. Seriously rolled my eyes when I saw that show. I lasted about 5 minutes. Right up there with the ozonics crap.
  19. I've used the little blazer tacks in the past. I have a buddy that uses the little twist ties. Both work good.

Decent movement last Sunday, saw a little six chase a doe, and a tiny 3pt come in to the grunt/rattle. Had a flurry of road kill last week, but nothing since. Too warm for general movement during the day I think. Next 2 weeks should get interesting, and I think I finally will have time to hunt a bit.
  21. Biggest deer I ever shot, October 12, 2008. 78 degrees, full moon, calm winds. My motto: if you have time to hunt, and want to hunt, hunt. Don't worry about what others tell you or feel.
  22. Turnips are up and doing very well. They're about 4" tall. This warm stretch should help too I think. Unfortunately, the frosts we had a few weeks ago zapped the sorghum.
