Gutsy kid.
I know, at our school at least, the speeches are approved by the senior class advisor just to make sure there's no profanity or anything inappropriate. They are given a lot of leeway. I'd say in listening to 20+ valedictorian speeches over the years, 99% of them address how that one person can represent and communicate the hopes and dreams of his or her class and community. There was no violation of The Constitution IMHO. The student had the right to speak and that right wasn't abused. Like it or not, this country was founded on Christian principles, if you don't like it, fine, you have that right. If you don't like or believe in the Lord's prayer, don't listen, simple as that.
On another note, the topic of another thread if I cared to banter, which I don't, I often listen to an evangelist on the radio. I don't know his name, but he usually has a good message. I caught him yesterday and his point yesterday was--there are no such things as atheists. There is light in everyone. Who put it there?
9 The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. 10 He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. 11 He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. 12 Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— 13 children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.
1 John 9-13
The atheist is the one who is uncomfortable with the truth, who is not secure with his or her light.
