  1. My wife is doing pretty good actually. The surgery was borderline minor/routine, (only took 28 minutes to complete). She has about a 3" incision right on her lower spine. They went in, clipped out the ruptured part and sewed her back up. Doc says it looked like she might have some permanent damage and that she might not ever get 100% feeling back in her toes, but as of last week, she said most of the feeling has come back in her foot, and her toes are tingly, so we're hopeful. Thanks for the concern fellas.
  2. Ohio season ended yesterday. Compared to the last 3 for me, it was a heck of a lot more fun. I was able to bowhunt quite a bit. Passed up numerous does, fawns, and little bucks. Never saw a shooter buck while bowhunting. Only saw one shooter all year, but I never got a shot at him. I was able to shoot 1 doe with the muzzleloader during the early ML season, and my son got a big doe during the youth season, his first, so overall, I was pretty happy with my season. My wife ruptured a disc in her back in mid December, she had surgery on January 20th, so I wasn't able to hunt much at all in that time frame.
  3. Strange game, strange ads, strange halftime. Strange night all around IMHO.
  4. If Belicheat can come up with a few new ways to cheat, the Pats will win. If not, it might be a good game.
  5. Turns out, Ohio State had a pretty good chance. Hey Mark May...

    new one on me

I'd have to go with Alan on this one. I'm not one to audibly celebrate either. I've got two banded doves, to which I pretty much said "huh, they have bands, cool." No real reason to celebrate like you described, even a rare bird like a pintail wouldn't get me to carry on. To each his own I guess.

    Prayer Request

You got it Alan. Sorry for your loss.
  8. You got it Lewis. My condolences.
  9. Almost too pretty to eat....almost.
  10. That's pretty cool. No kid should have to go through what he's going through. Have a good time.
  11. Nice job Alan! By the way, don't try and figure out what a whitetail will do and why they do it, it only drives you crazy.
  12. Deer around here are going to be skiddish for a few more days or weeks. Gun season tends to stress them out. I have 1 tag left, trying to hold out for Mr. Big I saw in my neighbor's field last week.

  14. Wow, that's bad news. I'm not a big fan of gun season. Last few years it's been really quiet around me, this year was a different story. Fair amount of driving going on around me this week. I saw a shooter in my neighbor's field Saturday, but by the time I got dressed and out there, he had bedded down again. I stood under a pine tree for 2 hours waiting for him to get up again, but he never did. Saturday was miserable. Back to bowhunting in a week or two.
  15. I have one buddy that shoots any doe if he has a tag. I have another buddy that believes it's absolute taboo to shoot a doe during the rut. Personally, a lot like fly and Al here, depends on a lot of factors, generally I skip the does during the rut because I want to see what's following them.
  16. No big deer in Ohio, go to Missouri, Iowa, Illinois or the real powerhouse, Oklahoma! Great deer Alan!
  17. Looks like an old fighter for sure. Congratulations.
  18. The moon was in last quarter on the 15th and no eclipse and it has no effect on cold temps...
  19. Yep, that was me, and funny thing is, my daughter is going to OSU because the Navy medically disqualified her, she was headed to that nuclear program too, until they turned her down, lol. Congrats to your son; I know that's some big money too.
  20. I think I would just let it go. I got home a little late on Wednesday and decided to hunt from the ground in a little patch of woods close to my house. I was clearing a shooting lane when I noticed a buck 50 yards from me. I slipped back in the woods and kept my eye out for him. I didn't see him for a good 10 minutes so I thought he slipped back in the corn. Turns out, he snuck into the woods and got to within 10 yards of me! I could see it wasn't a buck I wanted to shoot so I leaned back from the tree I was hiding behind and the deer about turned inside out. He jumped a little, then calmly walked away. As he walked, I noticed he had a limp on his left front leg. I don't know the extent of the injury, but I got to thinking maybe I should have shot him; seems like it's always a tough call when you see a wounded animal.
