  1. I have watched a lot of mules grow up and usually if they grow a frame like that they will not grow the 4rht on the weak side, I have sheds from quite a few with weak sides and they grow or shrink according to there age and the growing season but seem to have the same type of frame, in my opinion he is a 140 class buck now[about 21 inche beams, 2 inch g2, 14 g3, 8inch g 4, ] and his forks might get a bit longer and get thicker but you will never get a 160 plus out of him, just my opinion!!good luck with your hunt!!
  2. last night just as the sun was setting I spotted a doe coming my way, seeing i want fresh venison and have 2 doe tags I decided if she kept coming I would fill the tag, she came by and stopped at 45 yards, I put the 40 yard pin high and let go, she buckled and it looked like a perfect hit, I watched her run to the top of the hill and I seen blood on the exit side back about 6 inches, I ran to the top to watch her and she was wobbling and walking backwards in the next draw 100 yards from me, I glassed as she walked into the draw, I went and got the arrow and seen foamy blood and bright red blood, looked like she was quartering a bit and I got the lung on left side and exited on liver, it was starting to get dark and me and a buddy decided best to leave it till morning, I called the warden and let him know what went on so if he sees me with a deer in the truck on sunday with hunting not allowed on sunday it would be ok, I was out there first thing this am and as walking in seen a coyote leave, I was sick, got to were she went in and found a huge puddle of blood and the stomack, then a drag mark leading down the draw, the drug her 50 yards, peeled the hide off and left nothign but ribcage and spine and head, made me sick, I made the right decision last night with a single lung shot, but got the crappy end of the stick by the coyotes,or possable a couger or wolf!! here is a pic of what I found!!!http://www.realtree.com/img/2/medium/coy_005.JPG
  3. just goes to show you how the liberals and peta think, hurt a animal is not ok in ayway but sure you must hurt the human to milk the same was a the cow does, no prob, just goes to show you how they think, hurting animals is not ok at all but humans are ok, same as they throw paint on people with fur coats, ever throw paint on a animal and wow its a beheading!! Was having a good day till this is brought up lol!!!
  4. that is a mulie cutoff, you can see the forks, and how the G2 comes off the beam,
  5. I am there in a heartbeat Steve!!
  6. I seen him last night, had him at 80 yards but could not get any closer, way down hill from last year, prob 4-5 inches narrower, no front forks down from a good 10 inch last year, 6 less stickers but the same hook as last year, not a tall and less hieght, I expect he will only gross in the low 180"s compared to the 220"s last year, he is super old, can really tell by his grew face and belly touching the ground lol, That area was super dry thsi summer and spring compared to last year and I expect last eyar was his peak, its downhill from now on, I am still going to hunt him hard becouse of the history, and if I cannot get him with bow I will give my daughter a try with ML next month,

  9. I enjoy the american tv way better, never much of a canadian tv fan, guess maybe its just my senceof humor lol!! birddog you better give me a holler nextime up, we need to have a few brews and talk about good tv shows lol!! No problem in bringin it up Dakota, thats what we are here for, its was just my opinion to the show!!
  10. alot of you can rememebr the huge 40 inch mule I was after last fall, I dream about him every night, I spent all july looking for him with no luck, no one spotted him all summeruntill this am, the rancher just called me, he seen him by a dugout thsi morning at 6.30, in the same draw I hunted him last year, he said he could not believe the mass and width, he could nto tell if it had all the junk as last year but who cares, thsi deer has caused em many nights of sleepless ness lol!! I have a rifle tag for him this fall, I have 2 more weeks of bow, a month of ML then 2 weeks of rifle, he will make a mistake, so glad he is alive,I can not rememebr the last great news I had as good as tonight, I am like a kid who jsut got a truck load of presants at x-mas lol!!keep a eye on my journal, sure glad I blew a stalk on a little 180 inch mulie tonight lol!![guess maybe it was a sign]
  11. I watched it once and just about got sick, us redncks in sask are made fun of enough and I think this show is just a farce that the city folks down east can sit back and laugh at how much of idiots we are, made me sick how they disrespect the RCMP by having total idiots as cops, I coyote hunt a few miles away from the town they make it in, and live only abotu 80 miles away, never once drove by the set,Maybe I just don't have a sence of humor, but I lived in this prairies my whole life and alot of the stuff they talk about happens, all the visiting at stores, and talking about everyone, I just do not like the making fun of it they way they do!! Just my opinion but I would not watch it if someone gave me a hundred bucks!!
  12. A buddy has a bushness 450, not to sure if its a sport or not way bigger than my bushnell 1000 sport and uses 9volt battery which does not last nearly as long as the 1000 which uses a camera battery, plus the 450 is only 4 power and his does not have the bush feature which will pick up the farthest object if branches are in the way, super when lookign and getting a few blades of grass, also mine is way better at picking up object under darker times, he has a hard time picking up deer at 200 yards with his, mine I have ranged them out to 700 under perfect conditions, always up to 400, I just got my 1000 this summer for 279 and got a 50 doller rebate, I would apy a few extra bucks for a 1000, plus The bush feature would be perfect for your hunting situation, and smaller is better, Like I said I am not sure if his is the sport or not,his is more like a binoculor, not up and down like mine, his is 2 years old!! Good luck

    opening day

congrats on a nice archery bull!!!
  14. I do believe 12, I know our kids need to eb 12 and have passed a hunter safty course, I would expect the same for non residents, there is nothing in the hunting reg booklet that says any different, if you go to there website SERM you will be able to contact them to find out for sure, if any probs, PM me and I can get ahold of the wardens for you!!
  15. it is true, I seen her this am, nearly got another shot at her got to within 50 yards, you could clearly see the spot were she was hit, a bit high, right in line, she acted totally normal with no blood on the coat, could of shot 10 does going there, they were all over, serched for a good hour and she came back into the same draw I shot her in last night and surprized me as she came around the corner, they spot on the exit side is a bit higher than I thought, must of been uphill a bit, looks just like a pice of hair the size of a golf ball missing, the other side you could hardly see just messed up a bit and it looks lower, she was 50 yards soI got a good look, she was a huge doe to, I am glad she is ok, just hope not in to much pain, I am totally amazed at this, I have shot a few high before and always caught the top of the lungs, not alot of blood for usually 100 yards then a ton and find her soon, but they act different when hit in the lungs, this one did not do anything I ever seen when she was hit, she sort of hunched a bit[as if ducking] and I did not hear a loud thwack, I guess I need to ground myself for screwing up, I just hate making a bad shot and even though I thought it was a good shot it was not so to ground myself no free time till hunting season is over, work ,all other daylight hours will be hunting, no slacking off!!!!!!! Thanks guys,
  16. deff not a liver shot, was not back at all, was just at back of shoulder, plus did not loook to high, looked like a perfect shot, 5 am not and don't hink I slept a hour last night, this crap bothers me, I get so mad when people around here wound deer and here I did it,[i know it happens but usuualy becouse of long shots or no practice]I have went through the shot a million times and it was perfect,I think I just hit a little high, she has to be out in that field somewere, rememebring the shot it was 3/4 way up the chest and perfect behind the shoulder,I could not of missed the lung, she should of had blood, I guess I will find out in a hour, will let you know!!!
  17. the thing that gets me is any other deer I ever took would of been down in the distance I went and plus blood all over, and just the way she acted was wierd, just like not even hurt, I seen exactly were the arrow went, should of been upper lung, hopefully in 6 hours I am on her!!!
  18. tonight I decided to fill a doe tag and have fresh backstraps for supper, I got up to 36 yards on a nice big doe set the 40 yard pin low on her chest and let go, perfect flight and perfect shot [so ithought] she was strait broadside and perfectly level with me, she buckled a bit and took off[not a jump like a heart shot or a hunch lieka gut shot, sort of different] plus I did not ehar a loud smack either,[could of just missed it to] I pulled the binos up to see the blood pour out and looked jsut liek the hide was ripped with no blood, was about 3 inches higher than I liked but should of been good, I watched her run for abotu 50 yards and slow down, and stop and look back at me and take off around the corner, I had a snack and drink of pop and went fopr teh arrow after 15 minutes or so, it went about 20 yards even going through her which was funny I thought, I took up the trail knowing exactly were she went as I rounded the corner I seen a whole draw 100 ayrds long with tall brown grass, a blood trackers dream, I zigged and zagged for a good 1/2 hour without a trace, then I see 3 small heads of grass about 2 ft off the ground with a bit of blood,i marked them with tape and started to do circles, found one more small smear 30 yards farther up, I checked the fence close and no luck [usually find blood after jumping a fence] as I got into the field [hay field] I see a deer abotu 100 yards away, It was starting to get dark butlooking through my binos It looked like there was a rip in the hide right were I shot,no blood and she was feeding, BTW there was decent blood on the arrow, dark red but not frothy, looked liek she was not even hurt, I ahve heard about a dead spot were nothing is injured, btu never reallty believed it, I have got well over 30 deer with arrows and never had anything like this, I thought high lung shot, but within 150 to 200 yards it shoudlof filled up, any thoughts, I am going back in the am to check the field out, I hope she is ok couse by the morn she will be just bones by the coyotes!!!please let me know any thoughts, this really bothers me, even though its a doe, I hate to see any critter suffer!!
  19. anyone interested in getting together for a coyote hunt this winter!iwas just thinking it might be a fun get together, if anyone else want to come for a get together no prob, but you will not be able to hunt[non residents not allowed to hunt yotes here for soem stupid reason] you can just come to hear me call and get a few fleas helping me skin lol!!!just a thought about a way to get a little sask realtreee get together!!
  20. congrats steve, cannot wait to see the pics!!!
  21. what a bruiser, congrats on a deer of a lefetime!!!!
  22. I can not tell you the twist, not to sure, Its a norenko .223, and the bullets are a barnes varmet grenade, in a 36 gr, nice thing is theya re about the same size as a 50 gr HP made the reloading easier to get the correct deepth seated, usually lighter bullets cannot be seated to keep the proper space between the rifling and bullet, these are lighterbecouse no lead in it, I guess its a copper housing and filled with copper dust sort of instead of lead, supposed to eba varmet hunters dream bullet, we will soon find out!!!
  23. I finally got out to a freinds to get the scope all sighted in and cronographed today, was not getting super groupings yet, was about 3/4 inch but need a bit of fooling around with seating depth to get it perfect, what i was amazed with was the 3800 fps average out of 15 shots, all within 20 fps amazing to get that speed out of a .223, he had a coyote with a 4inch area in the chest that swings open when shot, with a light wind it was drifting about 10 inches and only dropping 4 inches at 300 yards, wind is really going to affect it but super flat, if they do not do a ton of damage I think I found a super bullet!!
  24. nice pic, yep starting to loose velvet here to, seen one buck last night at 150 yards shed his velvet in 15 minutes, was amazed at the look of the bloody antlers, was cool to watch!!
