no such luck this am, started to rain at about 5.30 hard, by the time I got to the area I was looking in the main roads had te ruts filled with water, over a inch in a hour or so, let up a bit now but all dirt roads are impassable, trying to find a sled or something to drag out a deer if I get one, I will have a mile and half hike into my whitetail blind, and I am willing to get wet but just worried about getting the deer out if I get it, will not be able to drive anywere near and a buddys quad will just rip up the fields! just having lunch and out to try to get a tag filled!!
-
it was a sleepless night, got a couple hours of sleep, its 5 am now and its legal time at 5.50 or so, just heading out the door, not to much rain just enough to dampen the ground, keeep a eyeon my jounal,I will post how things went tonight!!

is tomorrow, wow the time has flew,I have not found the monster mule I want so the moring will be more of less just spotting for a monster,I am hoping for a huge non typ, or want a typ in the 190 range,[fussy couse the tag can be carrried over in oct for ML and november for 2 weeks of mule deer, ]then in the afternoon its time toget to one of my whitetail blinds, I know there is at least 20 different bucks in the area and 7 are over 150", 2 160 and one deffinite booner, great for farmland right near town, only prob is the weather, supposed to be about plus 14 or about 45 degrees with strong north wind and rain, don't mind most but the north wind takes my 2 best blinds out of use, I guess time will tell, the good thing about the wind and rain is I will be able to stalk them, they are bedding in a overgrown flax field with 3 ft weeds, then heading into a oat field on the way to the field they like to feed in, with the right wind and quiet conditions I can stalk them if I see the monster which I should as I have seen him nearly every day,It is going to be a sleepless night as all pre season nights are, hopefully I will have pics to post tomorrow night!!!

I got the scout 1000 without arc, I figured the ark would not help me out , we have no trees to hunt out of lol, sure downhill with rifle but I decided to go without it, I love it, I have ranged elk out to 800 yards with the sun at my back, deer on normal days out to over 450 yards, I have ranged a coyote out to 325, that is were it will come in for me, even to range trees ect as I sit down to call a stand for coyotes, it will pay for itself in a year on missed coyotes at 300 yards!A buddy has a 600 yard,it is crap compared to the scout 1000, plus I like the battery in it, I have fooled around for 2 months now nearly every day and still in good shape, plus it tells you when getting low, I to love the bruch feature, great when looking at a deer at 200 yards and there is a few branches in the way, it will pick up the farthest object and tell you be flashing a tree on the screen,

great shooting Blade, nice form, I think I need a few pointers from you with my recurve!!!!

here are a few pics of my tradtional setup, I got a guy i know who does artifacts for museums to make the broadheads[out of stone with antler to form them , the way they did in old days] they are mounted using sinue from deer calves and deer rawhide glue, arrows are homeade by a guy i know with wild turkey feathers, the recurve is one I started with 25 years ago and got my first 10 deer or so with it, decided the stone broadheads would be fun to try, theya re super sharp and fly nice [look at the second pic, this is 20 yards, not great with a coumpound but I am super happy with a recurve with no sight, all instinct,as you can see they do wabble a bit the way they entered the bale but I believe that is becouse I keep smacking my wrist, [see the arm guard I had to get, the welts on top of welts were getting to hurtfull lol!any suggestions from the pic of me shooting at what I could be doing wrong to smack myself please let me know!
