  3. sorry no pics. was close to 85 today and were I got her was about 2 miles from the truck, and it was raining so I did not want to drive in, I started to drag her out but was to big of hills so I just deboned her in the field , was a yearling mulie but a perfect stalk, seen her from about 1/4 mile away and put the stalk and had her come out of the brush at about 27 yards, I put the 30 yard pin and hit about 3 inches high, she ran into the bush on a trail and I lost her, I waited about 20 minutes seeing ti looked good and found the arrow nice blood, and after abotu 15 yards a blood highway was there, she was 60 yards farther in the deepest draw around lol!!did see a monster right off the road this am, crossed and stood at 25 yards, it was about 5 minutes before legal time, I let him go bed in a draw I figured he was heading to and went back this afternoon and he was with 8 other bucks, at least 4 were over 170" ,its a bit closer to town so I might start to hunt him, been a tough week, hunted hard the past 3 days strait and all last week after work and a couple morns, very sore and tired hiking so amny miles, glad to be back to work tomorrow to rest up lol!! keep you posted on how the ribs in the oven taste and how I do on the buck!!
  4. was in the hills at 530 am this morn, waited till daylight and seen him off a way, got within 300 yards laying on a hill and watched him bed in a perfect location, strong wind and draw right below him, then a doe white and fawn came over the hill walked right by him and fed below him 40 yards, right were I ahve to creep up, all I could do was watch as they fed, finally after about a hour they fed off another draw giving me a perfect access rought, I made the stock and got within a 100 yards of the draw he was hiding behind and seen the bloody whitetails below him again, then I could see antlers going up the hill, he walked over the hill, I ran to the top and seen him head into a draw that there is no way I hunt with the wind the way it is today, I believe he was ticked off at all the movement from the whitetail doe, I came back to try and stick her with a doe tag but she was gone, go figure lol!! the draw he is in right now is a narrow draw with cutbanks on the one side and heavy brush on the other,it runs south east the same direction as the wind, he will prob be bedded on the cutbanks with a few sage brush, that way he can smell perfect and see the open side no matter what way I came in, I guess he could be bedded on the bushy side giving me a chance but I do not want to spook him, still have a good chance at him in a pasture I am really beginning to learn well!I still have not seen the big non typ I was actually first after, have seen lots of 150 class and did see a big non typ yest morn but it is in a area were they got tons of rain and skeeters are so bad I could not even stay out more than a few minutes without getting eaten aliive, today abotu a40 mph wind so might go still hunt his area, nap time now, yesterday did a 16 hour day hiking , today rest up for tomorrow lol!
  5. sorry to hear that, I am so glad that the saskatchewan wildlife fed, goverment and wildlife officials are all against and will never allow land to be rented or leased for hunting, its a huge fine and hunting offence to get money for hunting access, the way land is seperated into townships up north and the outfitters have the only guiding allowed on that land, its crown land and anyone can hunt it, just most cases the acess is only feasable by the outfitter!in the south all goverment owned land can be hunted by anyone as long as no cattle are out, if so they need permission from the pasture manager, all private you can hunt as long as not posted, but any good hunter gets permission before, if posted can still hunt with permission! hope you find a new spot soon!!
  6. its sure fun to be out hunting now lol!!!!its something I wait for from the time I get the tag filled , once its here I miss the sleep I got the rest of the year, lol best of luck thisfall!!
  7. I have my recurve for whitetail in the blind, I can only hunt it night becouse I have to go through the field to get to it, I will only shoot to 15 yards with the stone broadheads, I went after thsi buck tonight and he was exactly wereI figured, only prob was it was so calm he heard me getting in position to wait him out, I did manage to watch him head to the next draw and after a few cactuses in the socks I got to within 30 yards or so of his antler tips,he came out at 40 yards and I could not get him to turn for a shot, he went onver the hill and when I got to the top could not see him so I left, did not want to push him to the next province, when driving spotted a nicelooking buck in a area were I have seen a solid 180 class typ with a sticker, I planned the stock and got within 25 yards of a good 155 inch typ, he was in the freezer but I have lots of them on the walls, so I watched him head over the hill, on the way back had 4 does and fawns within 35 yards but decided to let them walk till the weekend, witht he 85 degree weather I would of had to debone it tonight and I am tired, 3 day weekend so I will get a arrow bloody hopefully, nice now becouse they finally allow sunday hunting, I will ahve no days of rest now lol!!tomorrow night I will be abck after the big guys, going to sleep in tomorrow just to long of a day up at 4 am then working all day then back out till 9 or so,
  8. he is over 30 inches, I have 2 that are right at 30 inches and this guy is quit a bit wider, just wish his v's were a bit better, exellant beams, nice mass super width, just lacking on hieght and v's a bit, the thing that gets me is when they are so wide the forks look smaller , looking at tthe pics it looks lke they all are around 8 inches, I put his beams at 25, g 1 prob 1, g2, the way they curve about 15, g3 and 4 at 8, thtats 57, at least 22 inches of mass, that is 79, 79 plus 79, is 158,25 inch inside, that is 183, gross, I say I would be close, I think if I get a look tonight it will be in the truck bed, I will let you know!!
  9. tis am was the opening day of archery, I was outbefore work looking for a nice non typ, I seen a few bucks in a far draw so made the stalk, as I came around the corner this is the buck I seen at 39 yards, I watched and decided not to shoot and as he ran I grabbed the camera and took a few pics, seen 16 bucks this am and could of had a couple does, just hate to when I have to work, tonight I will be out again and hopefully the big boy is in the same draw as this guy wet to, if he comes by I think I will have to shoot, just hard opeing morn before the sun comes up lol!!
  10. we were in those same spots 3 summers ago I believe it was the same year a guy was killed by the grizz, we seen all types doing the same crap, seen a bike get tipped by a buff, it was a fake charge but the guy got off the bike quick, you can see every animal on those vidios show signs of aggression, people are idiots!!!we were camping one year and ona hiking trail a lady and one about 5 year old and another in a stroller were in front of us, a cow moose was 10 yards off the trail and she stopped to show the kids, the cow showed agression and I seen her twins on the other side of the trail I told the lady to get her butt moving now, shegot upset with me I finally hollered at her calling her a idiot and if she wanted to get trampled go ahead but its her kids I was worried about, I was pretty upset, she called me a few names and went on her way, still to this day prob 12 years later I am sure I saved the kids by being a loudmouth, peopel think becouse the animals are in a park theya re tame,
  11. I am worse than a 4 year old at x-mas lol!!! sleepless nights, instead of sheep jumping fences its monster muliesand whitetails jumping my bowstring!!!!!!!!!I was up at 3 this mornign and could not go back to sleep so I had to watch some old copies of monster bucks, at 430 headed out spotting and seen 27mulie bucks by 9 am when I was home, lots of 150-165 class but no monsters yet, have not seen the monster I am after for a few days but I will not go into his area till tuesday morn!!!!!!
  12. hard to see on the pics but the top mule is a 8 by 9 I believe, I will try to get a better pic, hopefully me holding him!
  13. here are a couple pics of the deer I am after come sept 1, the first is a mule deer that I have one shed from this year, he grew about 25-30 inches this year, the second is a super massave whitetail, he is a 4 by 5 but is coming by my stand every day,I seen him a few times last year and he really put on the mass this year, it will be the thickest deer I ever shot, I have shot bigger but I will be hunting in this stand with my recurve and stone broadheads and the farthest shot will be 16 yards more likely to 12 or so, if I can get him it will be the most exiting hunt ever!!:'>
  14. I recieved a homeade bow by one of the best bow makers 20 some years ago, he was in mags all over, I stopped by to show him some arrows he made years ago that I had stone points put on and seen a nice bow on some nails in his shop, he siad it was made 25 years ago and it was to strong about 90 pounds and never finished it, he said if I was willing to take it down a bit and finish it I could have it, I gave him a couple coyote hides for it, I worked it down carefully and now I figure its about 75-80 pounds, got the notches cut right and just need to get it finished, I am looking for a string now, it does not have the same look as my old recurve and not the look of a traditional longbow,so cannot say I would still say a bit different type of recurve, [bit different curve in it ] I have talked to a ton of people seeing he cannot remember the brace hieght, I get measure from notch to notch from everyone then its a different story from each one, I hear measure from notch to notch less 3 inches to 4.5 inches, and all inbetween, everyone said to get a heavy string but the rest all different, any ideas from anyone or ideas who to get ahold of, thanks for any help!!!
  15. sorry to hear that, just wish the punk was carried out in a body bad, no idea why taxpayers should pay for him in jail!
  16. thanks folks, been ok so far, after daughters grad this weekend did not have much time to think about getting older lol!!few cold ones i had after work felt good though!!
  17. best of luck to you! I am from sask canada and some of my best rememberd hunts were with people who came to hunt with me in years past! I had a guy who came up from Minn for 4 days and we had a blast, only got 10 in 4 days but to him I think it was great and the frinedship is great! Only prob is that now in Sask they will not allow any non residents to hunt coyotes, they believe that no one will pay money just to hunt a mangy coyote, they think its always a poaching reason behind it!Idiots!
  18. Its not mange, Mange is a mite that gets under the skin, it does not cause the fur to fall out and blister, the constant itching causes the critters to chew there fur off, the blisters are scabs or frostbit usually, mange is usually the back end first,[were its notacable anyway, easiest to chew the fur off] you will see the fur will be yellowish tone from the mite under the skin! I have shot lots of coyotes, fox and a couple beavers this spring that look like that, the guard hair is all off, the deer do the same thing, kind of late but I would say prob just shedding,[i do not know much about them but if any other animal we have here I would say its loosing its winter fur!] Just my opinion!!
  19. happy b-day bud, be good!
  20. I just got the cannon rebel and its awsome, only thing I recomend are to get filters for your lenses and a eye cup extender, its super fast gets awsome pics of sports it will constantly shoot in the sports mode, got pics of my daughter playing ball, caught the exact instant she hit the ball, and right before and right after, cool to see the ball coming and going!only thing to make sure is that the nikon has a stabalizer, i know the cannon 75 lens does and it really helps in good pics, the 300 I have does not and it requires a tripod to get really clear pics,[some cameras have it built in the camera, I was told they are not as good of stabalizers, billkay would know better] good luck and be ready to have hours of reading to figure out the camera lol!!
  21. don't forget to get the big game draws in this weekend!!!I put in for moose in the farmland zones,[20th year appling for cypress, put in this year for all around buffalo pound, craik ect] and put in for speed goat have not got drawn since it re-opened!put my youngest ijn for her first mulie draw, she shoudl get drawn the idiots doubled the tags here this fall!!
