Gary Alt tried to help us out. but the hunters of Pa would not have it. the guy got death threat. peopler were just aweful. I actually know Gary Alt and what a nitemare for that guy. His ideas were to allow the younger bucks to mature. and harvest more does. that is a proven tactic that is effective for a healthier deer herd. the politics as always got in the way. yes antler restriction were implemented. but that is not the answer. living in a 3 on a side portion of Pa. I would say at least 80% of 1.5 year olds are legal in my area. I am fortunate enough to hunt on a farm that we impliment our own standard of only harvesting older bucks. This was Garys intentions. allowing bucks to become older. on a state wide basis and with the hunters of Pa this is just not possible to many people just want there buck and although that is not my theory if a 4pt is a trophy to you then go ahead you should be able to kill it. some of my best memories hunting have been when I harvested younger bucks. I have gotten to the point in my hunting career where the thrill is holding out for that big. boy or even harvesting a doe. that being said. Pa length of rifle season. and number of hunters. we just do not have the equation for statewide big bucks.

Re: Last workout tonight I am fortunate to have a gym on my college campus that is free. and when I am home I have a gym that I have my own key to. it a wrestling training facility for Derry high school but it has pretty nice weight room facility.

Re: Smokeless Tobacco In The Stand?? sure you can take deer with a chew in. but if you are serious about hunting big bucks then don't. In my opinion mature bucks did not get big because they were dumb. anything that smells out of the ordinary. "not like it did the last time he walked by" may be just enough to send him just out of site. a mature deer will very rarely let you know that you spooked him.

Re: help!!!!!!!! first off congracts 2nd off if that deer was dead less then 24 hours he is fine trust me yes there will be smell but the meat is fine I have recovered deer a full 36 hours later. and had a butcher tell me the same thing. he was like It will not hurt you but may have a taste I can butcher if you want. I said yeah go ahead the meat was fine. try another butcher if you still have the deer. first hose the inside out very well before taking it. if they say no clean it yourself. if nothing else take the backstraps/tenderloins off I assure you those will be fine and they are the best eating. good luck.

I will get a story and pics as soon as I can. the short of it is chasing does around 330 on friday grunted him in. score is 113 8 pt 16.5 wide not the big boys that I know are here but a very nice Pa buck.

Re: What broadhead? I like Rocket Sidewinders 85gr if you could make the jump to 100 gr you have quite a few more options. I know Mike Waddel himself likes the muzzy 90 gr heads those would shoot very similar to 85grs with muzzys you would never have a problem. they are built tough. I myself and a Rocket man.

Re: what broadheads do you use Rockets never have had any problems currently shoot the stealhead but love the sidewinders and even use to shoot the old miniblasters. I have toyd with the idea of trying the new Rage mechanicals. but idk.

Re: RUT REPORT Hunted fri - Wed saw a few young bucks interested in does. on wed eve saw a young 6 and a 2.5 year old I think 10 pt. acctually chasing. friday eve I saw an 11 pt prob 130 class and then monday I saw an 8pt that I would guess to be in the 140s. not chasing does but up on there feet moving around a solid hour before dark. those 2 bucks were the first shooter bucks I have seen since scouting before the season.

Re: NEED HELP FINDING BUCKS IN LINCOLN DELAWARE find food sources oaks crop fields ect. here is my little formula this time of year.= find the food=does does=bucks. bucks=happy hunters. and kind of funnels where the deer are forced to a smaller area because of a creek or other obstacle. is never a bad place to start..

Re: Calling you can try blind calling that is just calling every half hour or so. you may also want to try calling when a deer is acctually spotted. rattliing horns are also a good investment.

Re: Team Realtree camp on fantasy whitetails. There is in fact another Team already in existence Team name is Camp Realtree and Password is Realtree. I am going to keep Team Realtree alive since we have members so feel free to join either on or both as I am.
