Re: Proud Papa! congrats to Wimpy Jr. looks like a happy kid. todd
  4. Re: OKLAHOMANS READ! [ QUOTE ] It's not fair to those of us who wish to harvest a buck with each means of harvest. It will make you choose between your rifle, bow, and muzzle loader. [/ QUOTE ] But why do you feel like you NEED to shoot a buck with each weapon? It's very rare for me to see 3 different mature shooter bucks during each of the 3 seasons.
  5. Re: Leaf River Flash what model are you using? I just got one of their new models and it is doing the same thing. The older models didn't do that--I guess they are trying to increase flash power to get those further out pics.
  6. Re: whats everyones plans tonight? i was asleep at 11:30--we did watch the ball drop at Time Square.
  7. Re: Should I get a dog from the Humane Society?? When you go to the Humane Society to get a dog you are not supporting the HSUS. Totally different organization. Your local Humane Society is run by the city (dog pound) not the national organization HSUS. So go ahead and get a dog that needs a good home. todd
  8. Re: Same set as yesterday............. man--you're thinning down the fox population. congrats
  9. Re: OKLAHOMANS READ! I actually think it is a good plan. With only two bucks being able to be harvest it might make hunters a little more pickier on what they shoot. The reason I say this--is b/c the number of young bucks shot during the season. All you have to do is go to a check in station/processor and look at all the 1.5 year old bucks shot. It's our own fault---the mentality that I'd rather shoot a 1.5 year old fork horn instead of a mature doe--just b/c it has horns. I also agree the doe tag price should be reduced and the number of doe days should be increased during the regular rifle season. This might help hunters who can only hunt during the week to be able to harvest a mature doe instead of a young buck. Like I said I think it is a good idea but a couple other changes need to be made also. todd
  10. What a tragedy--Williams (former OSU player) shot dead early this morning. I don't know all the details but I think he was in a Limo celebrating New Years.

  15. Re: Primos Hunting Calls? i've never used the primos predator calls--I use a set of Quaker Boys. I've had good luck with their duck calls though!
  16. Re: soybeans [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Yeah,I remember reading something about not to feed corn during the summer because it's not good for the deer or hard to digest? [/ QUOTE ] Don't know that I believe that completely. Here, the deer are in the corn in the summer big time. Some corn fields around here are picked as early as the beginning of September. Have had deer raid the corn in our garden in July. If they can eat the corn from fields and gardens without ill effects, eating it from a feeder would not be any different would it? [/ QUOTE ] I've never heard that either. What can make a deer sick is if the flora in the rumen aren't adapted to digest a grain such as corn. Where a deer can get sick is if someone decided a week before season to dump a couple hundred pounds of corn in one spot--then the deer (especially if hungry) over eat and come down with acidosis--a very deadly disease. When feeding corn it is always better to start out with small amounts and gradually increase.
  17. Re: NFL Picks Standings--updated week 17 [ QUOTE ] Congrats Wiggley. Can't believe some of the teams that lost this weekend. Oh well. Playoffs should be fun!!!! [/ QUOTE ] this was a tough week for everyone--scores didn't go up much as a lot of the teams that had already qualified for the playoffs were playing backup players. Andrea--the most important part was ending up in the top 4 for that first weeks bye. good luck to all.
  18. First off thanks for everyone who played the NFL pick'em game. It was fun. congrats to wigs on winning the regular season and heading into the playoffs with the top spot. Now we are going to crown the winner--but things are changed up a bit--it's a head to head elimination (bracket formula) with the top 4 point leaders of the regular season receiving a first round bye. The next 8 point leaders will compete in the first week playoff (wildcard) rounds. There will be more than 8 since there was a 3 way tie for 8th place. I need the following players to PM me their picks for next week. texas til I die rhine16 texastrophies c lou finn whitetailtrax Bowtechturkeyhnt VABuckSlayer MCH Shaun 300 The top 4 players will compete head to head against MrWiggly, Andrea, BGH64, and muff. Kansas City at Indianapolis over/under 50 Dallas at Seattle over/under 46.5 NY Jets at New England over/under 38 NY Giants at Philadelphia over/under 47 tie breaker (if needed): total passing yards (both teams) on the Indy/KC game. games are worth 1 point each as well as the over/under, so a total of 2 points can be scored on each game. good luck todd
  19. Re: NFL Picks Standings--updated week 17 I'll have the playoff schedule posted tomorrow. Congrats to MrWiggley for winning the regular season. Andrea had a great run but had a bad weekend to lose the #1 spot heading into the playoffs. thanks for playing. todd

  21. Re: What to plant in spring in Oklahoma!! I plant annuals in the spring--I actually use a mixture that is made at a local seed company (Ross Seed in El-Reno). I love this mix but I do change it up just a bit. It contains a mixture of red ripper and IC cowpeas, soybeans, oats, millet, milo, WGF sorghum, alfalfa, and a few others. It is planted at a rate of 50# per acre. I buy 100# of this and then another 100# of iron and clay cowpeas. Mix it all together for a total of 200# of seed. Plant it still at 50# per acre. As far as pure protein it's really hard to beat cowpeas and soybeans. The only problem is when planted alone you need 2 to 3 acres so they don't get overbrowsed. todd
  22. Re: soybeans soybeans in the spring and summer--then start adding corn back in midfall when the temps start to fall. Protein during the antler growing/fawning season. Carbohydrates (corn) during the cold/rut season for heat and energy. todd
  23. Re: Need Help ASAP i'm not familiar with the beman arrows (shoot GT) but the beman guys will probably want a little more info such as draw weight, arrow length, fletching type, and broadhead weight.
  24. Re: Drift Boating the Colorado oh man that looks like fun! congrats on the greenie. todd
