  2. Re: Kent Steel shot I love Kent Steel---dropped 3 geese yesterday with 3 shots. I was shooting the 3 inch #3 (was actually set up for ducks). They cycle great thru my 935. This was the first year I've shot them and I think I'll stick with them.
  3. Re: Front Page News glad they made it out ok
  4. Re: Affordable Food Plots the mix that william posted above is a good wet soil blend--the soybeans will supply good high protein forage during the warm months and when the millet and sorghum mature out the deer will feed on the seed heads. Unless your deer are starving they will probably not feed on the millet/sorghum during the growing season of the plant. As far as a good legume that will tolerate short times of water I would recommend a mix of trefoil and ladino clover--however these seeds aren't the chepest. todd
  5. Re: Planting corn do you have Ed Spin's new Food Plot book? If not I would recommend it. There is a section on planting corn without a drill.
  6. Re: Finally some GREAT news !! that is great news!
  7. Re: deer feeder spinner plates? nope---i've never had that problem.
  8. Re: OKLAHOMANS READ! but.....the hunter might not take that second young buck if he knows it is his last buck for the season.

  10. If you remember I had a waterfowl project built on my 160 acres. It was done with the help of the county NRCS and the Federals Partnership program. I got it finished last summer but unfortunately there has been very little rain. Finally the last 3 weeks we got some rain and it is almost 1/2 full. I decided to do my first hunt this morning. By 8am I was getting a little discouraged as I hadn't seen a thing. Then all of a sudden over the trees probably 1/2 mile away I see a flock of about 25 geese. Well not thinking I had a snowballs chance of calling them I pull up the GK Goose Call and let out some loud honks and a series of clucks. Lo' and behold the lead goose turns my way and the entire flock follows--I'm thinking no way (I've never called in a goose before)--but sure enough they start honking so i just try to return the same sound they are making--before I know there wings are locked and they're gliding in. When they get in range i stand up and shoot---take aim and the first goose required 2 shots to drop--still have one left so take aim at another--shoot--and two drop. I am shooting Kent FastSteel #3. Three shots--Three geese So now I send my dog on her very first goose. One of the 2nd geese that I shot has taken off running so I send her after the cripple. She swims the water watching the goose the entire way--she gets out of the water and the race is on. She catches the goose--and traps it under her front legs. She then looks at me in a "What do I do with it now"? I give her the fetch command and tweet tweet--she picks up the flapping goose and brings it to me. I think she dropped it several times. A 10# goose is much different than a little duck. We ended up retrieving all 3 geese. The largest goose weighed in at 11.7 pounds and since this is my dogs first goose retrieve and my first goose on my own property the big boy is going on the wall. A very exciting morning: todd

  12. Re: Team 5 now that is a great score---i think we are in a great position to win--if we don't we sure gave it a good shot. Congrats to all team members for putting points on the board!!!!!! todd
  13. Re: Affordable Food Plots when you say has a tendency to flood what exactly do you mean? Does it flood then the water is gone in a day or two or does it hold water for a long time? What times of the year does it flood the most--spring and fall? This will determine what will be best suited for your needs. todd
  14. Re: New Leaf River Pics call vibrashine--they have the best customer service in the world!!!!!
  15. Re: What kind of spreader i bought a spreader like pictured above used and haven't used it yet. For small seeds like clover i actually use a hand held spreader--for larger seeds like peas and cereal grains I use a pull behind spreader and use my ATV

    ohio state

Re: ohio state lol @ OJR a star is awarded to a player for an "accomplishment" during a game--kind of like a game ball award. A lineman might get one for a good sack--or a corner for an interception. I don't think there were many stars handed out yesterday.
  20. Re: Team 5 way to go HF---congrats on the deer!!!!!!!!!
  21. Re: Got my First Greenhead congrats on the greenie. my first one is on the wall.
  22. Re: got us a few more points great news
  23. Re: Should Boise State be #1? if those two teams were the two best teams in the country then there sure is a big discrepency between number one and two.
  24. Re: Congrats to the Florida Gators Ohio--no I agree with the two teams that played based on regular season records--I was just stating what two teams played the best in the BCS games. That game was such a blow out that we would have probably seen a better (closer) game if LSU would have been playing. Ohio State deserved to be there based on regular season record and playing. It would have just been nice to see a competitive game for the National Championship. Another reason a playoff is needed. There was nothing competitive about that game last night. Did OSU have an off night or is Florida just that much better than the best team in the Big 10?

    why is OSU?

Re: why is OSU? muggs--I think it had more to do with the OSU players just being outplayed and out-manned more so than out coached. There was nothing that OSU offense could do right---shut down both the run and the pass. It doesn't matter what defense OSU was going to play they weren't going to hold Florida to less than 14 points. Troy had a horrible game and a coach can't do anything about that. He had no zip to his throws--how many throws ended up several yards short? His arm strength was pathetic. They were just beat on every aspect of the game.
