  2. So how did the frost seeding go. I have had some great luck with frost seeding--especially small seeds like clover. My favorite is red clover. Frost seeds really well into a fall planted cereal grain. todd

  4. That boy is a fighter. I would like to see the brute that destroyed his horns!!! congrats and great shot todd
  5. I also like my draw a 1/2" shorter---just more comfortable. You can always put a loop on it and then find a release that will make the draw just perfect for you. You should be fine with the 28" once you put a loop on it.
  6. Many thanks to all who have served. currently serving, and families. todd

  15. Last year I started a bunch of apples and pears from seeds. Kept them at the house in pots and overwintered. Then this spring I grafted them to known varieties from apple trees I already had planted at the farm. Collect the scions in late winter and store in the fridge until it is time to graft. Here is a dolgo crabapple that I grafted: Arkansas Black Apple that I grafted: Keiffer Pear that I grafted: All trees are either caged or tubed for protection.
  16. Well the fall has been dry and I have only received a little more than 2" of rain since the first of September. Plots are still doing ok just not getting usual growth. Made a couple kill plots. All plots were planted around the first of September: View from the stand. What it looked like 2 weeks ago: Second small kill plot: Two weeks ago:

    Hey guys!

Hey Caleb. Congrats on graduation. Now life really begins. todd
  20. I saw that on FB and I am very sorry for your loss Martin. He did have a good run but it doesn't matter how old you are it is still really hard to lose a parent. God Bless my friend todd
  21. I had two shooters on my place. The pic you posted was my big 8 that had been hanging around for a good month or so. Here is a pic of the 10 I shot---taken just a few days before I shot him. I hunted opening day of BP with only 1 shooter buck. The opening weekend was so hot I just did a morning hunt and after the hunt changed out my cards on the cameras. When I got home I discovered the 10. It was the first pictures I had got of him and didn't recognize him from previous years. On the following Wednesday I was able to kill him. With this wet spring we have had we should have some great antler growth. My does that are even nursing twins are in some great shape---fat and sassy.
  22. Knock on wood, but I have been very fortunate that my deer don't forage on my apples or pear trees. Not saying that they won't in the future. I use 4ft cages and 2 posts. I will use about 10ft of water (circumference) and then raise it about a foot off the ground. Any limbs that grow through the cage I am not worried about bc I will eventually have my lowers limbs at about 5 feet. The "deer pruning" won't hurt your trees at all but you want to do your best to keep them off the main leader. This will eventually turn your trees into a bush so you might want to make those cages a little wider. good luck and post some pics of the trees todd
  23. long time. Hope life is going great for ya. Miss those slow days where I could spend hours on here. Busy at work and kids. Seems non stop these days.
