    Hat Trick!

what a hunting season. congrats on an awesome buck todd
  4. I don't have any real sandy areas that i plant on so no. However, I know some guys that have decent luck with planting Durana clover as well as Ladino clover. If you can get it established your good. it all depends on how much moisture we get and rain in Oklahoma that past 5 years or so has been very unpredictable. What you might want to do is plant buckwheat this spring and try to work on building up some organic matter in the sand and then attempt to plant your clover in the fall with some oats and wheat. todd
  5. I'll check them a week prior to gun season and usually very early afternoon. However, most of my cameras are very easy to get to without causing much disturbance. I have it planned that way during hunting season. After hunting season I will move a few back to some bedding areas and check monthly.
  6. awesome. congrats to both of you. great bucks todd

    FRIST DEER

congrats--hard to beat some grilled back straps. One of my very favorite meals.
  10. should be a big sign that says "you loot, we shoot". A law abiding citizen when told by a peace offer to stop or get on the ground--stops and gets on the ground. When a law abiding citizen is told to put your hands up---they put their hands up. It's as simple as that---if he would have done that he'd still be alive. I am happy for the peace officer. todd
  11. Hard work paid off for sure. congrats on a great buck todd
  12. he was a fighter for sure. Must have been the dominant buck in the area. congrats on an awesome buck todd
  13. oh--and don't you remember him saying "if you want to keep your current health coverage you can". Well that was a bold face lie also. Nope--couldn't keep my current policy. My daughter has crohns. Her treatments that she takes every 8 weeks used to cost me around 200. Now they cost me 1200. Prescription plans suck. He is the downfall to the working man.
  14. wow--big bodied buck my friend. congrats on an awesome shot and really nice buck. todd
  15. Gotcha. My bad. Yes, I would like to know if I shot a deer that wasn't recovered and the neighbor saw it very much alive.
  16. Now if I Saw a buck with a broken or dangling leg I would take it. Just bc a buck is limping *even with a small flesh wound* doesn't mean this buck is hurt enough to warrant shooting it. Especially if it is not a "hit list" buck or doesn't meet your goals or criteria. They are tough critters and a lot of younger bucks are getting the bell rung right now during the pre rut by larger bucks. So no I wouldn't shoot it just bc it is limping.
  17. Sometimes the heat of the moment and adrenalin take over and we do things we might regret. I have never taken that shot. I had an opportunity a few years ago on a buck chasing a doe and he stopped right under my stand. I passed on the shot but my mind really wanted me to take it. He never presented another good shot. I just could never stop him from doggin' the doe to give me a broadside shot. Lesson learned. To me it's just not a high percentage shot but I know a lot of hunters have had success with that shot. todd
  18. congrats on the buck---great shot!!! todd
  19. congrats on the buck. Looks like an old mature buck. good job todd
  20. Welcome to the forum. If I had to buy just one I would get the crossbow. Mainly bc our muzzle loader season is only 9 days long. Of course we can us the ML during our 2 week rifle season also. However, with a crossbow I can hunt 3 1/2 months with a crossbow. But save your money and get both. If it is ML season you can bet I am leaving the bow at home. Big difference and more opportunities when you can reach out to 150 yards compared to 30 or so. You can get some fairly decent ML packages pretty cheap these days---and they are pretty dang accurate out to 100 yards. todd

    videotaping

I'll take the video camera with me when I am hunting in the tower stand but not the tree stand. Too much work trying to keep a camera on the deer and draw a bow at the same time. However, on hunts that I have on video I enjoy going back and reliving the memory. todd
