    Mid Term

But that has been Obama's attitude his entire term. He doesn't care about anyone's agenda but his own--and the pwers that run him like a puppet. That's why he always uses and threatens to use his "Executive Power"

    DST change

The extra hour of sleep is null and void as your internal alarm clock wakes u up and hour before you really need to get up. I usually get up around 4:00 am to shower and head out to the deer stand. Now it's 3am and much tougher on the body. In the evening you get home and it's dark and by 8:30 after being home just a couple of hours your body tells you it is time to go to bed. I hate the time change. My dad always told me they did it for the kids going to school so it would be light enough to get morning chores done and get to school??? Don't know if that is the reason or not but I sure wish we would do away with it. todd
  7. Best of luck tomorrow. Hope to see a pic of you behind a Monster.
  8. google earth is a great place to start but nothing compares to getting your boots muddy and seeing the layout with your own eyes. I agree with fly--finding a nice loaded oak tree dropping is a good start. Finding a major trail leading to some bedding areas or finding a nice rub line will also help the confidence. good luck todd
  9. just never know. However, I see more evening activity on my food plots. Did an all day hunt Wednesday. Sat in the stand for 13 hours. Only saw one deer in the morning. Had 9 deer in the evening--only 8 left. All my buddies right now are seeing more evening activity.
  10. Most extra full turkey chokes aren't approved for steel shot anyway. Get two different chokes.
  11. Youth rifle season was the weekend of the 17th. Black powder opened last weekend.

Haven't put a tape measure to it but I think it will.go upper 130 ' s. Maybe 140 if I fudge it a little. Hope your right Martin.
  13. It's always nice when a plan comes together. Some times you question yourself if all the time, money, and effort is worth it. Seeing the big smile on my daughters face after she killed her first deer during youth rifle season: And then after a long days hunt and harvesting a beautiful mature buck: makes me realize that it is worth it. However, I think i get just as much enjoyment out of imiproving my land and seeing what it is capable of producing--in both forage production and deer--as the actual hunt. till next time todd
  14. What an awesome buck and great story. Perfect shot. todd

    Score.....

Black powder opened saturday. It was a hot weekend with temps around 90 and that knocked down any deer movement. Cold front moved in on Teusday so I knew that would get deer moving. Arrived in the stand an hour before shooting light 6am. Morning light arrived with only one small doe showing up. The rest of the day in the stand was totally uneventful until 6:30pm and doe and fawn show up and start feeding in the plot. A few minutes later a fork horn shows up and starts chasing the doe all around the plot. The young bucks hormones must be in over drive as he was harrasing the poor doe to death. Within 15 minutes I had 8 deer feeding in the plot but no shooter--all does, fawns, and the young buck. With about 10 minutes of legal shooting light left finally a big bodied deer comes out of the trees and makes a straight line of the Eagle Soybeans. He was facing me so no ethical shot presented itself. I glance at my phone to look at the clock to see how much time I have left--5 minutes. He finally turns and offers a 60 yard broadside shot with just minutes left. As the smoke clears I see him running past my blind. I give a loud grunt and he stops in his tracks and just stares at me. Within seconds he starts the wobbling and falls down 30 yards to my right. It's the big 10 that I got cam pics of just 2 weeks ago. todd
  16. Just some old chicken wire or hog wire will work. Attach it to a t post or some pvc pipe and hammer it in the ground.
  17. Calvin---that is a nice looking spot. Germination was tough this year due to the decrease rain we have had. However, without an exclusion cage it's hard to tell just exactly how much browsing pressure may be playing a role in the food plot. Your deer may be plowing it down quicker than the plants can grow. Keep the does around though and the bucks will follow. todd
  18. Thanks Nut---I think I enjoy the habitat work more than the hunting part. It has almost become an addiction--my mind is always thinking on what I can do next to improve the quality of my hunting land. todd
  19. A couple of nice bucks have shown up also this week. I rarely have mature bucks call my place home but I have several doe groups that do--so where the girls are the boys will evenutally show up. =Black powder opens this weekend but temps are going to be in the upper 80"s so I am not super optimistic but you never know. todd
  20. Plots are coming along nicely. Some timely rain has really helped. New 2 acre plot planted around labor day. In spite of very poor soil and low pH the creek plot is doing surprisingly well also.
  21. those are two brutes. Better than any boxing match these days.
  22. I know---i usually use a tripod when hunting alone but didn't think I would get so shaky since I wasn't the one shooting. Plus I was trying to get her the ear muffs before the shot and had to move the caldwell shooting tripod bc the dang buck came in from the wrong side of the field. lol
  23. I think that buck would make my hit list. Best of luck todd
  24. Not a very good video--mainly (well really all) due to a poor videographer. Will still make some great memories. Here is a link to the video. http://vidmg.photobucket.com/albums/v207/dogdoc/My%20Movie.mp4
