  1. Not sure about your state but most have a 40 pound minimum draw wieght. Myself I shoot Crimson Talons, massive wound channel and as acurate as field tip out of my Switchback, 70#s, 450grn arrow with 100grn Talons at 285fps Also have been shooting The Rocket Steelheads 2" cut. Don't believe they create as good of a blood trail as the Talons though.
  2. Awesome Birds Guys !!!!!!!!!!! Keep em' comein' !!!!!!
  3. Son's First Turkey Copied from my other thread, forgot about this one. Opening Day of Oklahoma's Youth Turkey Season. The morning started without any gobbles on the roost, so we decided to run and gun and look for recent sighn. We walked for about 3 hours sitting and calling while we rested. We finally had made our way nearly back to the truck where we new there had been 2 toms in the area for the past 2 weeks. we sit out our decoys and got hidden good, calling in between short head bobs (me anyhow). after about 10minutes we heard a gobbles that sounded a few hundred yards away. We had our backs to the fence and some thick under brush hopeing the turkeys would cross the fence and come down on the pasture side but they didn't, they came down the fence just behind us about 5 yards and cole couldn't move for fear of being busted. So after about 10 minutes of them hanging up behind us I belly cralled down the hill trying to pull them in for a shot but they had nothing to do with it and slowly moved on down the fence. We thought, "Well here we go again". We then move across the wood lot and around in front of them useing our crow calls to keep tabs on them. We set up in front them with me about 100yrds behind Cole and they came in runin' and struttin'. Cole had to move his gun a little to the right because they came in so quick and close, he had to make a 15 yard shot and srilled him. BOOOO YAAAA the time had finally come!!!!!!!!!!! Cole has been turkey hunting since he was six and we have had alot of toms close but no cigar and finally it all come together. Best hunt I ever been on!!!!!!!!(tears in my eyes) It don't get no better than this !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. All year long, no limit. They are thicker than snot around here. The damage is unreal. And the flodding of land is the worst part. Here is a link to our regs. GENERAL REGULATIONS FURBEARERS
  6. Nice job Dale !!!!!! Hopeing to get in on them hogs myself soon.
  7. Caught this beaver crossing a pond damm while yote hunting. Rem.700 .243 55grn Winchester Supreme 3910fps
  8. Shot this big male in Jan. 2011. I hadn't even started calling yet. got out to the blind late about 9:30, just got settle in and looked into the nieghbors pasture and he was cruzing down the fenceline at just a little over 200yrds. popped him with my Savage .270win, Hornady SST 130grn. I LOVE YOTE HUNTING !!!!!!
  9. My personal favorite is the .243, as fast as a 22-250 and can shoot a 95 or 100grn also for deer. But with the choices you have given, definately stick with the .223. And the Savage is an excellent choice. You may even take a good look at the Thompson Center Venture, it's a little cheapper and a little better gun. And the TC is fully camo. And be sure to get enough scope for long shots, atleast an 18 power in 50mm. Good Hunting !!!!!!!!
  10. Well it's been real and it's beeen fun, heck it's been REAL FUN !!! Had a great time with you guys!!!!! See ya Turkey season !!!!!!
  11. Definately love my new SA XD .45 It shoots and handles like a dream. When I bring it up to target the sights are lined up and ready to shoot. I beleave I may have switched ADDICTIONS from flat shooting, yote snipeing rifles to good handleing, hard hitting pistols. Man I love shooting it. Have put about 200 rounds through it and it's barely a week old. It is now loaded with Hornady TAP loads. Well thanks for the input. You guys have once again have helped me buy something I will have and love forever. I think I just shead a tear. lol
  12. Killed a nice solid 6 point yesterday evening. It's just one more point from my 5 but I will try to get it entered soon.
  13. Well I said "I DO" to the Springfield XD .45ACP. Will be officially married next Monday. It was a little more money than the Ruger and Smith & Wesson but I liked the feal alot better. Plus for a while you can get 3 new stainless mags free.
  14. I mainly want to add the lazer grip for my wife and son when I am not home. Hopefully they will never need it but I don't want them to miss when their life depends on it.
  15. Well I don't know about the brilliant part but I sure liked the feal of the Springfield, and most of all the 5 inch barrel. I'm sure our marriage will be forever. lol
  16. Was out today in the pouring rain seen big bucks chaseing does and trying like heck to find a scent trail. It was like they were lost and trying to get home. The rain and thunder and lightning bothered me a whole lot more than those love sick bucks. Sure alot of fun watching that, just nerve racking when they get so close and won't stop long enough for a shot. Better luck tomarrow and Sunday. How they doing in your guys's woods?
  17. looks like I may be going with the Springfield Amory XD 45 ACP
  18. Gonna buy a pistolla for self deffence, home deffence, and hunting deffence. Have decided on the .45 ACP. but not on brand. I figure FEAL is probably gonna be the decider on that but thought I'd get some feedback on durability and operations. Any praises or gripes are very much apreciated. And also, what lazer grips do you prefer?
  19. Congrats tetro and gzilla45 !!!!!!! I've been seeing a a couple of goos bucks that would definately upgrade my 5 point. The deer are rutting hard around here, hope to getout Friday morn and the weekend. GOOD LUCK !!!!!
  20. Well I added a 7 point that I got in Primative. He is a small racked buck and not even sure they will give me the 7 points because the brow tine is close.
  21. Team 14 entry maddhunter Team 14 Twang and Bang 7 point buck
  22. Not a cheap one just a quality gun worth the money. Only thing is not all the high quality rufles offer a 25-06cal, like the TC ICON. I will either go with the TC Venture with stainless fluted barrel which isn't cheap anyhow, or a Remington 700 XHR. And still may go with the Savage 111 package which is what I had before, that got stolen. The venture is a sweet fealing gun and as always is garanteed to shoot a 1"MOA at 100yards and comes with factory installed bases. And the Mossberg 4x4 with muzzle brake in 25-06 isn't even listed as in production yet on thier websight. For me if I am going to spend $500 to $1000 I want to make sure it can shoot as good as I can, and yes I am a darn good shot.
