  1. The TCs are great guns, you can't go wrong with one. I myself have 2 CVAs and can drill a 3 shot 2" group at 100 yrds with both of them, a Kodiak and a Nickel Wolf. The difference is the craftmanship. A TC is going to be tighter and have a bit smoother action and you more than likely won't have to shave the stock and they come with better accesseries like the Power Rod. They are also have a bit better feal and balance. The paper doesn't always relct the cost of the gun. I have a friend that won't own anything but a TC but I can still outshoot his $800 smokepole with my $150 smokepole.
  2. I am looking to buy a new gun this year and with all the new stuff that everyone is comeing out with at high quality with a small price tag it is hard to make up my mind. I have been looking at the TC Venture in 25-06, does anyone own or have shot one of these guns? The action really feals good, the best I have seen in a low cost rifle. The only thing that worries me is the nylon clip.
  3. A good friend of mine's wife shoots the Winchester Supreme 95grn BST in her .243. He says it leave a heaping hole out to 200yrds and minimal tracking required. I personally haven't shot a deer with ours yet but will be useing the Federal 100 Noslar Partition this year.
  4. Well, been seeing alot of deer. Had a nice tall and wide 6 point come under me but he was only a 2 year old so I let him walk. That Deer Cane Black Magic is some awesome stuff. I put some out in the morning on my way to my stand befor light and the deer that came through went straight to it. That was last Friday and they now are digging holes in it. Just hope BIG POPPA PUMP likes it !!!!!!!!!
  5. Yep, definately ready here. we also had an off year last year. So far we are seeing more deer and a few quality wall hangers on most of the land we hunt. Good luck man and hang in there !!!!!!!!!!!! LET'S GET IT ON !!!!!!!
  6. Congrats on the doe Ruttinbuc !!!! Our season starts Friday and I can't wait. The temps have dropped and the deer are moveing good. It will be 50 degrees Friday morn. Lows in the 40s &50s and highs in the 70s for all next week. WHOOOO HOOOOOOO LET'S GET IT ON !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  7. Thanks guys, you've been a big help. I've been looking at our local bow shop where I have purchased both our Mathews and they have some3 pretty good deals on new ones Price ranges from $379 to $1100. Since I am not worried about wieght or how loud it is shooting from a shooting house I think I will be ging with the cheaper one, it shoots 300+fps and I think that should be good out to 30yrds. Again Thanks !!!!!!!
  8. If your going to bash or gripe about crossbows I don't need your 2 cents, PLEASE LEAVE. Thank You Thinking about getting a crossbow for hunting out of our blinds that we usually only rifle hunt out of since they are now legal archery equip. in OK. Yes I know about how far they don't shoot and how loud they are but just would like to get an idea of the better bows, durabillity and performance versus PRICE. Very new to crossbows, have always been a diehard compound user. Any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks, maddhunter
  9. Number one, it won't be that high at the dealer and number 2 it's just like paying $3000 for a Swavarski scope when a $500 Leupold is just as good or better. Everyone wants a Porche but we all drive Chevys and Fords. GIVE IT A REST !!!! LMBO
  10. Checking in. Love the name guys !!!!!!!! Our season opens Oct. 1st and runs through Jan. 15th, with a 9 day Black Powder and a 16 day gun season in there. Been seing some nice 8 and 10 pointers. Thats about all I expect to score on unless BUCKZILLA comes through. Going scouting this morning, Dad has been seeing a good buck in his yard but didn't know the points just a good buck. GOOD LUCK TO ALL !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't forget the SIG.
  11. Best time to hunt is in the rain. Just suck it up and get out there.
  12. AMEN TO THAT !!!!!! Glad you were able to catch them.
  13. sounds like a load of crap to me. And as far as hunting over bait, there is noone in hear that has not or does not do it, be it legal baiting or not. If you hunt over a corn field, that's bait. If you hunt over or near a wheat field, that's bait. Acorn tree, apple tree, clover, turnip, or lab lab, that's bait. It may be natural but it is still bait. Uncle Ted has done more for our and our childrens hunting and gun rights than most all of us could even imagine. There is not a person in here that has not done something illegal while hunting or on their way hunting, whether you knew it or not.
  14. Best mineral lick you will ever use. I have been useing them for about 6 years and thedeer come to them all year longgf. And they last a long time. They will dig a hole to get what melted in the ground of hyou don't get one back out there when it is gone.
  15. Maddhunter 37 Bow-Oct.1st thru Jan 15th Smoke Pole- Oct. 23rd thru 31st Gun- Nov. 20th thru Dec.5th:gun1:
  16. Crimson Talon or G5 Tekans. Never shot a more durable broadhead than the G5s. Just resharpen and reuse.
  17. Thanks guys, I think I will go with all three.
  18. I know people plant vetch to bail for cattle hay but has anyone planted Purple Vetch for deer? How well did they like it and how well did it grow?
  19. Going to plant a fall plot around our soybean/corn plot and was thinking of mixing wheat or oats with the turnips but which one or both.
  20. You know i have always wondered that myself could someone do the same for me.
  21. Everything was OK around here except they are running high amounts of water out of about all our dams. OK City is what we had at Pryor last year, 7 inches in 2 hours. There was water where I didn't think water could be.
  22. I saw on a hunting news show today where a distric court had ruled that scent- loc's statements that their clothing can eliminate human scent and that it can be reactivated to be like new is FALSE. And Scent-Loc, Gander Mountain, and Cabelas are no longer allowed to advertise that it can. Anyone else seen this or am I way behind? don[t watch much TV anymore so I figured this was probably OLD NEWS.
  23. I personally have killed more deer with a 30-30 than any other gun. Simply because It was the cheapest thing a poor boy could by and shoot & it held 7 shells, now call me a redneck but where I come from the more the better. And no one cared about bullistics or muzzle energy. Besides bullistics and muzzle energy don't kill deer anyhow, good shot placement and knowing your firearm does. Since then I have evolved to picking a caliber and cartrige by compareing those stats and my favorites are .270 and.243 and I am sure in due time they will surpass the 30-30 in kills in the very near future. When I was a young lad we only had one gun between 3 famillys and most of our neighbors and familly members were the same way so naturally I would think that the 30-30, which were passed down for generations would most likely have killed the more deer than any other.
  24. Yep I had alot of fun and enjoy just getting out and hearing them gobble, especially with my son. I am going to get him on a bird if I have to tie him up !!!!!! God luck to those still hunting !!!!!!!
