  4. Re: opion on mattews bow [ QUOTE ] i am looking at buying a new matthews but i don't know which is better the switch back xt or the adreanlin which one do yall people think [/ QUOTE ] I would say, if you're using it for stand /blind hunting you may want the switchback. If you intend to use it for a western style hunt, like elk/mulies then the adrenaline may be better due to the less weight. Either way, shoot both and go with the ojne that feels better. You'll know, it will just feel right!!!!!!!! --rossman
  5. Re: Farmers & hunter 2gether Door knocking is better. If every hunter knows who will let them hunt where then every hunter could hunt where you hunt. The whole point in door knocking is, the hunter who works harder to find a great hunting spot, will get that. THis is not a "welfare" governmet support project. If I want to find some hunting land then I will go do my own work to find it!!!!!! That's the way I think it should be. Plus, not every hunter respects the landowners and their properties. Most hunters do,, but the few that have no idea how to use the land will only piss the farmers off and ruin it for the rest of us!!!!!! --rossman

  10. Re: Mechanical Broadheads??? Which One??? If there's nothing wrong with your muzzy's then why the heck are you even thinking about switching? If it aint broke, don't fix it!!!!!!!!!!!! Muzzy's are a heck of alot better than any mechanical. There sharper and you don't have to worry about them failing. You will wound deer if you shoot mechanicals. They don't always work and if you hit a shoulder, have fun tracking a blood trail that has no blood. For the sake of the deer, stay with your muzzy's. I used to shoot mechanical until I wouned three deer in as many seasons, including one monster!!! I'm done with mechanicals!!!!!!!!!!! --rossman

  14. My brother, friend and I are pooling our money together to buy a electronic predator call. We narrowed it down to the FoxPro FX3 or the FX5. The FX3 is listed for $500 and the new FX5 is listed for $700. What we would like to know is what you think about the FX3 and the good and bad experiences you have had with it? Or anything else you may have heard. The FX5 is new so I doupt anyone has used it yet, but if you have, what do you think? Is it worth the extra $200 for the FX5 or is the FX3 good enough? Basically, which call should we buy, the FX3 for $500 or the FX5 for $700? The coyotes we hunt in NY are very warry and don't respond well to calls. But I was hoping they will to a better more realistic call like the FX3 or FX5. We appreciate your help. Thanks in advance!!!! --rossman
  15. Re: Well, therapy is over!!!! Well, here's the story. I seen the eight point run up the hill towards anoother hunter on his proerty. knowing the hunter was up there I thought this deer was dead. THe hunter missed him at 100 yards w a 30-06, then hit him high, then missed him three times, then reloaded and fired a shot at the deer when it was running towards me. the bullet went over my head. I watched the whole thing go down through my binoculars. I knew the deer was hit when it was running towards me so I had to take a running shot, something I do not like to do. My scope was cranked up to 14x when the deer was closing the distance and magnifier ring wouldn't turn down so I couldn't find the deer in my scope. Finally I filled my scope w the deer and fired at him at 75 yards, hitting him in the neck. If the deer was not wounded already then this shot would have not been a shot I would have taken. Just because I wasn't sure I could make a quick kill. But Knowing he was already hit I had to chance it. Looking back it was a great shot even though I didn't mean to neck shoot him!!! It was either the deer or the hunter firing in my direction!!!! I call it the "almost got killed buck"!!! --rossman

  17. Re: Well, therapy is over!!!! [ QUOTE ] whatsup with that giant hole in the eight pointer?? [/ QUOTE ] That's the exit wound from my 300 weatherby!!! Shot him in the neck!!!
  18. Well, deer season is over until next year. HUnting is therapy for me more than anything else. It's provides a means for me to get away from all the crap that goes on in the world. I can finally look back at a successful season wear it all came together. Killed a ten point withe the bow. An 8 point with gun. And a doe with the gun. Already counting the days till archery season. Now I have to find somethin to do till then!!!! --rossman

  20. I read the cover story on this web site about Mike Waddell's 300 class bull that he killed in Arizona. Not for nothin but I would be very upset if I waited 10 years to draw a coveted Arizona Elk tag and come home with a 300 Bull, and not a 350 or above!!!! Still a great bull, but doesn't seem like it's worht the wait!!!! What are your thoughts??? --rossman

  22. Re: Extended Archery Buck (pic) Cool!!! Them liberals still let you hunt in New Jersey? LOL!!!! My sister lives down there and she say's there are millions of deer!!!! Great buck!!!!--rossman
  23. Re: heard the \"growl\" this morning Want to know what I don't understand???? How come no one has ever heard a buck growl before the drury brothers designed their new call and before they got a hold of that guys video with the dead doe. Biologists and all of the hunting industry, have never talked about it till last year!!!! I do not doupt that you heard it. That is not my point or intention. I don't get it, the drury brothers have discovered a sound a deer makes just last year. What? Did the deer just make up this new language? LOL!!!!! I got suckered in and bought the buck growl!!! All it is a newley designed grunt call. You can make the same growl with your old trusty grunt tube!!!!! I got suckered but it is just a Gimick for them to make more money!!!! --rossman
  24. Re: Just not Fair (pic) Nothn you can do about that. Even if you made a good lung shot and the deer ran over to his property and he made a bad shot. THe deer is on his property so he has the right to keep it. Especially since he spined it and it dropped, it is definatually his deer. Better luck next time, these things do happen though. My eight point I got 2 days ago was shot by the neighbor and it ran onto our property, I made the kill shot by shooting him in the neck while he ws running towards me. So, my deer. But I did ruin all the neck meet because my 300 weatherby left a softball size hole in the back of his neck!!!! Better luck next time!!! --rossman
  25. Re: Any Success in NY Today? [ QUOTE ] I had success both today and Yesterday. Yesterday, I shot 7 or 8 times and got some good photos of a doe fawn. The camera did all the shooting. LMBO Today I saw a great buck but had no oppertunity to shoot. He didn't beat out the local hardware store, referring to head hardware, but he was a shooter for sure. Then I saw that same doe fawn again as well as a nice little button buck. I heard the button buck coming from his cute little grunting that he was doing. At first I couldn't figure out where he was. Then I caught him out of hte corner of my eye. Coming from behind he was and he was coming fast. I may go out again on Wednesday. Maybe by then the woods will have calmed down a bit. Success in my eyes is enjoying the day and the wonderful nature that we have been provided to hear and watch. Glad to hear the stories of a great opener! [/ QUOTE ] HeDeRohnda, After you busted my brother's and my balls I figured you were a pro!!!! Who the heck are you anyway???? You know us, but I don't know you!!!! You live about 10 miles away from me, so who are you? Send me a PM if you don't want to divalge your personal info, like you did to us!!! --rossman
