  1. Re: Homemade Scent Killer write-up I tried something similar to this and did a shoe test. Yes shoe test. Both shoes stunk up the joint, so I ran some test. Shoe 1 - I applied a good layer of a certain commercial brand scent killer and allowed to dry. Shoe 2 - I applied a healthy layer of the homemade scentkiller and allowed to dry. Result on shoe 1 - At first the odor was completely gone but as a couple hours progressed the smell reappeared with vengeance. Result shoe 2 - At first the smell was unaffected then it begin to dissipate. After a couple hours of sitting I rechecked and the smell was gone. Like I said it was something close to this formula. Test items were later removed and discarded to the rejected substance cylinder. My nose was also given some relief. It was a little soapy for me so I used it sparingly, never was busted but I also hunt with wind in my favor. Take it for what it's worth.
  2. Re: 100grain vs. 125grain [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] OnTarget2??? [/ QUOTE ] Yeah, check out the website. You can download a 10 day trial. It's really cool. I just checked it out today and was really impressed. Take my word for it, download it, check it out, and you won't be dissapointed. Basically the software allows you to input very detailed information about your setup and then gives you some calculated data based on your particular setup. [/ QUOTE ] So much fun to play with I had to buy it a while ago and it's still fun. I'm easily amused lol.
  3. Re: TURKEY TEAM #9 Congrats Doss!!! Nice looking bird. Man it's really green there already, beautiful. Our trees are just starting to bud here.
  4. Re: TURKEY TEAM #9 Sounds like you guys are doing pretty good! Hi, I am Bill from Waterloo, Ia and I am a turkeyholic .
  5. Re: TURKEY TEAM #9 Sounds great you guys.
  6. Re: Who uses the Gobbler Guillotines? I'm right there with you on the intrigued part. I just haven't been able to bring myself to shovel out $40 for them. I haven't shot them but I know some guys will shot them into old pillows or the like. They hang a banana or carrot up in front of it by a string and chop fruit .
  7. Re: TURKEY TEAM #9 Good hunting deerslayer, have fun.
  8. Re: TURKEY TEAM #9 I know how that can go dosse, my season went like that last year. Kept at it things can change in a heartbeat. Thanks for the welcome guys, glad to be aboard. Hopefully I can put up one of those big boys for us.
  9. Re: TURKEY TEAM #9 Hey guys, iabow checking in here. Thanks for the welcome, excited to be apart of team strut studs. Here in Iowa the season kicks off April 16 for archery and first season shotgun! Looking forward to getting after it, been driving people nuts with my calling practice .
  10. Re: TruBall customer service TurkeyGirl I've had the same experience with them. Last year I had the pin that holds the wrist strap and release together, fall out. So I emailed TruBall wanting to know how much another pin would cost. They said not a thing and sent me a brand new wrist starp with the release connecter, no questions asked. They have a loyal customer in me.
  11. Re: Team 16 Not to sound weird but I really like the face of that buck. Congrats!!! Well got out and hung stands today for shotgun season. It was a beautiful day and saw a couple rubs on 32" dia. trees, which made it better.
  12. Re: Team 16 Good job Josh!!! Congrats! Well I was invited back to hunt with my uncle and his buddies for shotgun season again this year. My uncle said there's a couple big bruisers in there this year, nobody has been hunting it. I also got permission to hunt it come next bow season, I'm going to see if he'll let me in there this year. Hopefully I'll be upgradeing the score, that's a good timber.
  13. Re: 06-07 RT Forum Deer Contest - ENTRY iabow Team 16 8 point ** TO HERE **
  14. Re: Team 16 Well I decided to just go ahead and harvest one of those eights tonight. He's not the biggest one but that's 8 more points for our team. I was 25 feet up and he was about 5 yds out. I think he might have came to my doe bleating about 15 mins before he showed up. I have another doe tag for the city hunt to fill and I'm thinking about buying a statewide tag, I running out of freezer space though.
  15. Re: Team 16 Congrats Buckbuster! Way to go! I had a great morning also. I had a 4, a 6. and two 8s come within 25 yds along with 3 does. The one 8 snort weezed and did something like that buck roar thing, then thrashed a tree up, about 20 yds for me. Then he chased off after a doe, mean while the other doe that came in went over to the 4" dia. tree sniffed and then rubed it with her forehead. About a half hour later the 4 point did the same thing, it was pretty neat to watch. I'm second guessing myself a little about not taking a shot(60 degree weather this week), hopefully one of those bigger boys comes in.
  16. Re: Team 16 I feel for ya. I did the very same thing on the biggest deer under my tree, his name was Bob( I had hunted him all season). Keep at it, you'll get him. Well I got the pictures back thankfully they didn't mess up and my goose break is over. Hopefully I'll be upgradeing the score soon. Don't let my pictures scare you, did I mention I hate taking pictures. Here's me
  17. Re: 06-07 RT Forum Deer Contest - ENTRY iabow Team 16 Backstrap Butchers doe October 17
  18. Re: Team 16 Congrats turkeygirl, way to go! Well I got orders to bag some geese for my parents and grandparents so I might take a little break for the family. Rut is right around the corner though so it's going to be short .
  19. Re: Kenny Rogers does it again... [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Yup he is pitching out of his mind right now. Though I'm pretty surprised St. Louis didn't make a bigger deal out of the pine tar...errrrrrrrrr...."dirt" on his hand. [/ QUOTE ] errrrrr Do you happen to be a clone? [/ QUOTE ] Haha...no...but I do listen just about everyday. [/ QUOTE ] Same here, love the Jungle. War Alvin's Mix
  20. Re: Team 16 Good job Tom and thanks guys. Well I took two more this morning but no jump in points. I hope my pictures come out I droped the camera out of the treestand.

  22. Re: Kenny Rogers does it again... I personally believe it was pine tar on his hand, judging by the still photos. I've never seen dirt have a glare and never seen it leave a stain after being washed off. That being said after whatever it was was washed off and he still was dealing, so I give him credit on a great game. Now I have heard that on really cold days the ump will secretly allow pine tar on the rosin bag or something for the pitchers to have a better grip in the cold. They would never admit it though. Now if the Cards would have pushed the issue and they found out it was pine tar, the rule states ejection from the game and a 10 game suspension. Which would have taken Kenny out for this season, that's why it would be important to me but no crying now as far as I'm concerned. Play ball.
  23. Re: solo hunt (pics) What a sunrise!
  24. Re: Team 16 Well I'll add 5 points to the team. I shot a button buck Tuesday to try to earn my anysex tag for the deer management zone I hunt. He's not the biggest but thought it would be just right for my grand parents. It may take a little while to get the pictures up as I only have a 35 mm. So will have to use up 24 exp. and then send it in to be devoloped. Good hunting team.
