  3. Re: Realtree Turkey Team #7 Well I got out to do some scouting on some land I have close to home to hunt. Things didn't look the best, I did find tracks and gobbler droppings before the rain hit but someone has been tearing the woods up with an atv . I'm glad I have more then one place to hunt. Good hunting.
  4. Re: Treestand Heights? [ QUOTE ] I like to be around 20 to 25'. Any higher than that, and the kill zone angle gets too steep for me. Any lower and you run the risk of deer spotting movement and catching a whiff of you. [/ QUOTE ] Same here.

  10. Re: Turkey Hunting Tips [ QUOTE ] I especially found the early morning calling interesting, since this is where I really messed up last season..... ,, everytime I heard a gobble I responded with some calling and never let up....so maybe this season I can correct that, and score on a bird... [/ QUOTE ] I found that out the hard way. My first two years I went w/out a bird, though they were fired up big time. Now I play hard to get and my success at calling in and harvesting birds sky rocketed. Thanks for sharing and good hunting.
  11. Re: Light Load Effectiveness ? Thanks guys. I want to use at lest 6s but haven't been able to find any in 1 1/8oz load, only 7 1/2s or smaller. The smallest load of 6s I've been able to find is 1 1/4. He watched me shoot them and decided it might kick to much for him. We're getting a good tight pattern out of a Rem. super full at 30 yds(only reason I'm considering this). Didn't think of the hi velocity loads, they don't kick to hard, I'll have to see if I can find some.
  12. I will be taking my 10 yr old nephew out on his first hunting trip to bag a turkey. My question is do you think a 1 1/8 oz load of 7 1/2 is good enough to take a turkey and what would you consider the max range on such a light load? It will be 2 3/4" 12 gauge. I'm a little hesitant about using it and thought of throwing in a little heavier load when he shoots but don't want to scare him off. He likes shooting trap loads, just wondering if it's enough. Thank you.
  13. Re: Realtree Turkey Team #7 Good hunting, nail a good one! I still have a month to wait, working on getting some new timber lined up that don't get touched for turkeys.
  14. Re: Sad Day: Former MN Twins Kirby Puckett has Die Hall of Fame person.
  15. Re: where do you hunt for turkeys and how big where My best is 24.25 lb, 10.5" 7" beards, just shy of 1 3/8" spurs. Heaviest on record in Iowa was a 35.8 lb glutton. Here's a link to the NWTF Records .
  16. Re: Realtree Turkey Team #7 Thanks jcwa, they went through that time.
  17. Re: Realtree Turkey Team #7 No, I tried to PM them but it said can't find user name or something like that.
  18. Re: Decoy Movement Ideas? Thank you guys for the idears. I have 4 decoys, so I'll rig a couple up on an old arrow to let the wind do it's thing but I'm going experiment on one. I'll let you know how it turns out.
  19. Re: new ranch record...770 lb hog! WOW , why is your truck so small?

  21. Re: Nobodys posted this Yet? [ QUOTE ] Being a Duke fan I have a question. Why are you so against Duke? Serious question, just wanted to know. [/ QUOTE ] I actually like Coach K so I do cheer for Duke but it just goes to show anybody can win on any given day nothing is set in stone. That's why I love March Madness, all the bracket busters. I do figure on it being Duke and UConn but anything is possible, someone might get hot.
  22. Re: Realtree Turkey Team #7 Team name really doesn't matter to me either, I'm easy, we'll be named winners at the end anyway . Tracy those are beautiful, thank you for sharing. Like some of those custom duck calls or long bows, I think handcrafting box calls is an art form. Was planning on getting out today or tomorrow to do a little scouting but the weather is nasty. Guess I'll keep looking at aerial photos or maybe drive some back roads.
  23. Re: Decoy Movement Ideas? Thanks guys. Sometimes I'm in areas where I don't get much air movement and I also wanted movement on demand. Borch that's along the lines of what I was thinking. I'm bowhunting so I won't have to far to run the line. Want every advantage I can to bring him close and thought movement would add realism and drawing power. Last year I had some birds that I would have got with a shotgun but were weary enough of the lifeless decoy to stay out of bow range.
  24. Re: Nobodys posted this Yet? They day after I was hearing that Duke and Uconn are going to the finals and everyone else is fighting for scraps.
