  1. Re: 22 Point Iowa Buck I heard a nice one was shot up there but this was the first confirmation of it. Thought you guys would enjoy.
  2. Sorry if this has been posted before. 22 point Buck arrowed in Iowa.
  3. Re: Nomar spurns Yankees I think that decision was based on more of his wife then anything. They have a house out there and she wanted him to play for a team on the west coast. Watch him tear it up after he left the Cubs.
  4. Re: The Wallhangers (14) [ QUOTE ] we're starting to look like sissies. [/ QUOTE ] Hitting em with truck don't count right .
  5. Re: Ghilli suits....... [ QUOTE ] Geesh you look like a green and tan version of your avitar!!!! hat should work. LOL As long as you dnt have guys taking castings of your boot prints behind you... LOL [/ QUOTE ]
  6. Re: Ghilli suits....... Glad to meet a fellow native, even if you are from Des Moines LOL. Have some family down there. Thanks for the idea guys. Going to try to make one for the spring turkey season. I'll see how well it holds up to my abuse to it, might have to sew for three days .
  7. Re: Ghilli suits....... [ QUOTE ] One quick and dirty method for making a pretty good ghillie is to buy a bunch of burlap fabric in brown, mostly, but some green, too. Cut it into strips about 18" long or so, then hot glue them to an army style "jacket" which is really the over shirt. Then take it to the laundry-mat and put it through a wash and dry to fray it up...good to go! Learned that from a SWAT sniper, so it must be good, right? HB [/ QUOTE ] How well does the hot melt hold up to the drier and time? The easiest way I've heard of if it holds up, think I might test it out. Nice suit vtbowman, last year I jerry rigged(no offence jerry ) a ghilli hat and head net to break up my head and shoulders for turkey hunting. I was amazed at the difference in their reaction or lack of to me, even caught out in the open.
  8. Re: Aluminum boat question.. I'd go with the deep v, smoother, drier ride and the largest motor you can put on there. That way if you run into trouble you'll always have enough power, esp. when loaded down.
  9. Re: The Wallhangers (14) Nice buck smitteken, congrats. Good looking pup too, we just got a black lab about the same size, feisty rascal. Well I shot a nice big doe for deer management on the guy’s land I was hunting during shotgun season. Had two trophy class deer about 150 yds from my stand in an open field. One was a tall 12 and the other a nice 10, beautiful deer. Just a little to far for my shotgun. Was told I should have taken a poke but that’s not the way I hunt, don't want to chance wounding one. The ten was only about 70 yds from the shed where two guys were inside getting warm and eating chili . All and all my group shot seven deer with two smaller bucks. Shotgun hunting is alot different then what I'm accustomed to. Deer were running all over the place. It was crazy, almost had two does run me over. I like my bowhunting. Sorry I couldn't have helped the team out more, it's been an off season this year for some reason, mental mistakes that is. Still don't understand how I didn't see that small rack and mistaken it for a doe, oh well. Now I'm starting to get the itch to talk turkey . Oh ya seen some big toms milling around in my turkey woods, and this year I can use my shotgun not just my bow .
  10. Re: Pics of my Iowa bow buck!!!!!!!!!! Great buck, congrats!
  11. Re: Getting the Shotgun Itch! This will be my first year shotgun hunting, I haven't because of those crazy deer drives. I'm going to this year cause my uncle's buddy invited me up to his timber where they hunt more like bowhunting, sitting in treestands. Hope you get a big one, good hunting and be safe.
  12. Re: Lions fire Mooch! [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Bad move IMO....get rid of matt millen first.... [/ QUOTE ] I agree 100%---a team that is bad and has been bad for a long time--even when they had one of the best running backs in NFL history. Everyone wants to blame a coach for a bad team when in fact it's had more to do with upper management and ownership. The lions are an example and another good example is the cardinals---doesn't matter who coaches the cardinals--they are always going to stink! todd [/ QUOTE ] Ditto
  13. Re: The Wallhangers (14) Happy Birthday kooter! Congrats on the deer finnlander, any deer harvested legally is a trophy in my book. Them chops are tasteing mighty fine, nothing like venison .

    T-Bone's deer

Re: T-Bone\'s deer Way to go T bone!
  15. Re: The Wallhangers (14) Well I harvested a little button buck barely had any nubs at 4:30 today in the city parks deer management program(suppose to reduce the deer herd). Not the biggest deer but he'll be tender that's for sure. Shot him at 25 yds and he fell at 40 from the tree. Cut the heart almost in two, perfect heart shot. Man I love being in the tree when there's a little snow on the ground and it's cold. Things are so crisp and clean, really peaceful, less people out and can see alot better. Just realized I have about two weeks before my first time hunting shotgun season begins, going with my uncle and a couple of his buddies that invited me, looking forward to it. Well good hunting guys, go get him kooter.
  16. Re: Tornado in Iowa? It was south of me, but man talk about wind. They had to stop the Iowa State Cyclones college football game and the fans had to head for shelter away from the stadium. Devastated one town and one person did die. Just crazy.
  17. Re: The Wallhangers (14) I know how that feels. How much time was it from the shot to jumping him? They are a hardy animal and can survive alot. Hopefully he'll stroll by you again, keep your spirits up and stay after it, I've seen it done before.

    CARBON ARROWS

Re: CARBON ARROWS You would more then likely have to retune, but you can use the aluminum wb insert with gts.
  20. I had a problem with my tornado release. The pin that holds the release to the wrist strap fell out. I emailed the company to see if I could buy a new connecter pin and for how much. With in two hours I received an email back, here is mine then theirs. [ QUOTE ] Hello, I own a Tornado velcro strap release. I was up in my treestand hunting the other day. It was a little chilly so I had my hand in my pocket with the release hanging down off my wrist. A short time later a big doe came in I was going to harvest but when I went to hook up to my string loop the release and the strap were in two separate pieces. The pin that holds the two together somehow fell down twenty feet, I tried to use my release rope to tie them together but the doe slipped away by that time. Anyways could you tell me how much a replacement pin would cost? This time I am going to put blacktape around the leather so this don't happen again, thank you. [/ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] We will be happy to send you an entirely new strap with connectors if you will send your address. Also, if you could please send back the strap when you receive the new one, it would help us greatly! Thanks for your help! [/ QUOTE ] I received the new strap and connectors w/ no charge and must say I belive they fixed the problem that I had, the pin is not going to fall, not going to need the blacktape. Two thumps up for Tru ball.
  21. Re: The Wallhangers (14) I have only been able to get out a couple times lately. The other day I guestimated the yardage wrong on a nice doe and missed. She had a small buck by her showing no interest. I certainly tore that leaf up though, know any good recipes. Well I think I got my nephew hooked, he is 10, and keeps telling me the days he can go again. I am going to take him with to check out some new timber. My grandma was at the hospital talking to some guy about hunting when another lady said that she wanted someone to come out to her farm and shoot some turkeys, cause they are so thick. My grandma got her address and number, I called her and received permission. Going to have to take grams out to dinner or something. I heard it's about to turn colder here shortly, so maybe that will help things out. I know alot of geese have been coming down. Well guys good hunting, hope you get a monster.
  22. Re: Bobby Labonte to leave Joe Gibbs Racing Ricky Rudd will be retiring at the end of the season also, so maybe Bobby can get in there.
  23. Re: The Wallhangers (14) How's every one doing so far? I'm going to take my 10 year old nephew out tonight in a city park, hopefully we see or get one. Going to have to set up a makeshift ground blind in a blow down. Good hunting.
  24. Re: 1st Archery Deer Way to go, congrats.
  25. Re: Star Wars Episode III Episode III was by far the best of the new ones. I'm with ya Harvdog.
