Re: The absolutely worst.... I still thinking getting vascectomized by your father-in-law had to be worse lol.

Re: Last True Athletes Yeah J.B.but you are talking about 'Texas' cowboys you can always tell a cowboy from Texas-not much but you can always tell one lol. Just kidding I've never seen too many guys tough on their competition. Interesting to see how Dave Samsel comes out of his wreck man did he get mashed tonite-you better not get on one you might get hooked literally lol.

Re: beagles Ty just got one about two weeks ago and we love her to death except the kids keep sneaking her into bed with them lol-wife not impressed to find 'belle' curled upon the end of the bed .
-
Re: Deer Processing I always cut it up right away-maybe hang it for 10- hours or so just to let meat set up-up north here it usualy just freezes solid so no benefit to hanging it plus hanging drys up the meat quite a bit.

Re: quads We use Honda's for guiding they are fairly dependable but we can't keep brakes on them in the ice and mud so just learnn how to downshift lol. The smaller quads usually ride a little smoother than the big ones-I'd definately get a 4x4 or at least a 4x2 with a winch. If you are anywhere cold thumb and hand warmers are essential. If yours breaks on the trail you can get home by putting your mitts over the exhaust for awhile then driving till they get cold again-I'm talking -40 weather here.

Re: begginers pick Start out hunting varmints like crows or gophers with a .22-it will teach you lots about shooting and get you used to handling a gun. Practice,Practice practice don't just shoot paper targets make it fun-fill a milk jug with water or shoot balloons or overripe apples-it's better to shoot 100 practice rounds so you only need one in the bush.

Can you imagine living next to that Canadian Tire guy who always has the right tool for the job or whatever. Everytime I see him i get mad lol-I'm a rancher so I still use a hammer and a fencing tool for most mechanicing.

Re: District champs.! Way to go-they just got highschool football started again here so Ty is pretty pumped about playing next year. Kick butt in the playoffs.

Re: Last True Athletes Hey Iowa you should go on the PBR website and play fantasy bullriding-it's lots of fun. They interviewed Justin McBride and he said he really respected Brett Favre as a guy who could play through pain. I coach lots of sports plus pack junior bull riders to rodeos all summer-it's truly a different deal-you really see what a kid has inside him when it's just him and a bull-there's some 12 year olds out there with more try than most adults.

Re: favorite deer Love hunting whitetails but I live for spot and stalk mulies with a bow-hard intense hunting from sun up to sun down.
-
After watching the big deal about Kurt Schilling pitching maybe everybody should watch some of the PBR finals-these guys aren't garanteed diddly squat-you don't ride you don't get paid-Justin McBride busted an ankle last event and can hardly walk but rode his bull tonite and had to get away by crawling on his hands and knees. Zero trash talk in rodeo-you see Adriano Moreaes the world leader helping his closest competitor get ready-cowboys have nothing but respect for themselves, the other bull riders and the bulls something the spoiled crybaby millionaires in baseball, basketball and hockey could learn from.

Re: FLYING MOOSE!! Pretty Crazy -wow!

Re: you first deer ....let\'s hear the story I went out to my bro-in-laws on a day off from college. I was driving around with his neighbor when we saw some does run out of a slough bottom-the neighbor wanted to go after them in the truck but I got out and still hunted along the edge. I came to a driveway of an old yard just as a 4x4 buck tried to sneak across. I just popped my 30.06 up and shot him in the neck-the neighbor was pretty torqued when he got back from his goose chase lol.

Re: What would you do? Let her shoot the big deer-when I hunt with my kids they get first crack at whatever deer we decide to take.

Re: what a nerve wrecking game This is the only time of year that baseball approaches any where near the intensity of your average peewee hockey game-had to love the Sox beating the Yankees and their classless fans-true champions win with class and lose with dignity. As for the Sox and whoever I hope they play the Cards-I'd like to see Larry Walker get a ring.

Re: WHEN FIELD DRESSING YOUR DEER I don't even gut my deer -I quarter them and bone them out right in the bush-my buddy showed me how after a caribou hunt he was on up north-in about 20 minutes you can have a 200 lb buck quartered and boned out and ready to pack out. When I used to gut I did split it most times though.

Re: gopher hunting Ty and I bowhunt them lots or use his 10.22-Ruger-he also snares them with his buddies-you want to get kids of video games give them a pasture-a bucket -some twine and lots of gophers.

Re: WILD TV??? I phoned Bell Express Vu-(1-888-759-3474) and they told me if enough people phone requesting it they would consider adding it.

Re: Clothing help? where are you going exactly in Sask-if you are going to be stand hunting I'd jusy get some of those arctic Shield booties to go over your regular hunting boots. As far as cold weather gear Arctic Shield or Raven Wear are probably the best I've seen. Myself I'm usually on the go so I just layer with lots of wool so I can go quieter. Most of us here wear thick raw wool socks on our feet with a rubber overshoes (squaw moccasins) they are awesome to hunt in-light as slippers but very warm. If your in the Meadow Lake area that's about only place where you will be able to buy them lots of guys I've guided purchased some.

Re: Selling Shed Antlers We had a guy from Swift Current up here buying sheds a few years back but was just spying for hunting spots-caused lots of trouble was hunting on posted land we kind of run him out of the country-I can't bring myself to sell any yet.

Re: Canadian forum member get together. Hey valley I had a bunch of guys from Sparwood hunting at my place last year-they wouldn't sit still so never got the monster but they shot a couple decent bucks. I was supposed to go out there this fall but couldn't afford it. But everybodies welcome for sure.
-
Re: Canadian forum member get together. Sureshot you might have to head up to Meadow Lake and terminate a few yotes on my place-they got a few calves on me this summer. Seriously though we could have a pretty good wingding up in the Meadow Lake country-bring your bullropes lol.

lil blonde deer killer
superguide replied to bowhunten4life's topic in Nick Beacham's Youth & Hunting Room
Re: lil blonde deer killer Hmmm if a 22 year old started hanging around my 15 year old it would be dull spoon time. -
Re: Is it wrong to use dogs to deer hunt with? i've used them the odd time to follow a blood trail to retrieve a wounded or already dead deer.

Did a couple does in yesterday with the Omega and have them quarters hanging in the garage-Ty went out to check and make sure no cats in there this A'M and there was a humongous skunk in there. He crawled under a bunch of stuff so just gonna leave him and hopefully he makes his escape. Skunk flavored jerky really not that good lol.
