  1. Re: Question for Alberta mule deer hunters? Yeah if he can hunt the milk river ridge should be great-the sweetgrass hills are awesome snuck up on a big elk herd in them once.
  2. We just gpt back from our annualmulie safari-thew trip started out great when we saw a humungous 6x6 whitetail just soth of home-then two cow moose. Finally 4 hours later we hit our zone and Ty put on his hunting suit just in case. I saw a nice buck out in the middle of some stubble-we drove back to a yard and got permission and went back after him- Ty got him a realnice 5x5 probably mid 160's but dead even-good first mulie buck for him. Got tro my bro-in-laws and headed out with about an hour of time left-walked a big coulee and Shauna and I both filled an anterless tag apiece. Next A'm Ty and I went out walking but he had terrible flu-walk a 1/2 mile then puke all a'm-tough kid lol. He packed her in and Shauna and I went out and she tagged a nice 7x5 buck real high and thick. Next A'M we were out wth nephew and his girlfriend and saw a nice 45 inch bull moose. Mulies everywhere and we all finished filling the other 4 anterless tags we had-saw some more great bucks and another big bull moose. Headed to locker plant with all our meat and a big sausage order. Hard to believe it but my kids will devour all of it by next season.
  3. Re: Question for Alberta mule deer hunters? I think it would be fairly open country but shoul;d be some good bucks there.
  4. Re: Gay Marriages in Saskatchewan. Guess it brings a whole new meaning to the word stubblejumper lol.
  5. Re: Big moose Looks like bird crap on the back of the rack to me-maybe there's a moose and a half there lol.
  6. Re: like a kid!! Ty, Shauna and I are heading down to 24 on Wednesday with 6 anterless tags and 2 buck tags between us-Shauna and Ty's first time for mulie bucks should be great-hope to meet Saskman down on his old stomping grounds around Kyle.
  7. Re: What a fun trip That's a fenced hunt farm I'm pretty sure-the Alsager's have a very interesting family history.

    baiting ?

Re: baiting ? Saskman just about any farmer would have some peas-Boyko's aren't too far out from town-just at tracks on way tomill they would have some. You know that place I thought your bud had permission to hunt-they found a 150 tangled up dead in some bales this week-like I said if he hunts on foot he already has permission for great spot-poor guy got lucky and shot that hog out there first time he hunted lol.
  9. Re: Advice on new .22 Shooting a 10/22 is the most fun you'll have with your clothes on-it's a great little rifle.
  10. Re: What a fun trip doemaster you were only an hour or so from my front door lol. My neighbor just found a 150 stuck in his bale stack his appetite got the best of him
  11. Re: close encounter of the deer kind!!! Brett maybe if you quit showered in doe urine they'd run sooner lol.
  12. Re: how good are you at long shots? I've missed more at 50 yards than i have at 250 lol.My worst day ever Imissed a 150 class whitetail and a 170 plus muledeer 5 minutes apart -that was 10 years ago and haven't missed a buck since. If I have a good rest a 300 yard shot is no problem off hand I'm not too fussy abbout a 100 yard shot-by the way those two I missed were both offhand-about 5 minutes after I crossed a nice trail-I climbed a big hill and then checked my backtrail and it was buck city lol. The next morning I split the heart on one at about 275 yards from a dead rest.

    baiting ?

Re: baiting ? It's legal here and we usually keep one active-I hardly ever hunt over it because I don't have the patience but it's good if we have a relative or friend wants to come out for a day or so-I don't like stillhunting with anybody but Ty. The big bucks really will hit a bait after the rut especially if iot gets -30.
  14. Re: Can\'t Believe It Stand Ohhh VT you obviously haven't hunted in Saskatchewan that's just one of many good stands I've got-it's just in such an improbable place that it's hard to picture a buck going there-I usually build stands for friends to hunt in but myself I can hunt like a coyote pretty much on the move.
  15. Re: Best-looking trucks.....Now UGLY!!! I'll stick with my Hemi!!!!
  16. Re: Lil Blonde in Ensley\'s book Right on that's pretty neat-but now superguide jr. is having trouble focusing on hockey. All in all though that's quite an honour-lil blonde's next goal should be the cover of 'Big Buck' she sounds like a good enough hunter to get there someday.
  17. Re: Can\'t Believe It Stand Ohh whatever suits lol.
  18. Re: Another Bear Story!! Palsonatter the only thing to do would be for us to canvas all the small town bars in Saskatchewan searching for the truth lol. There's tons of good bear stories-last year one chasaed two guys that were rummaging aound the dump-they interviewed the one guy and he said he wasn't scared because his buddy was fat and couldn't run as fast as him lol. They just tranqued one on the second hole of our local golf course lol.
  19. Re: Staying out all day... Well I always have chores to do so can't make it all day plus it gets pretty cold here-what I do though if I'm going to sit for a few hours is take an old easy chair and leave it in the spruce-they are awesome for keeping cold off-you burrow in there and no wind gets at you-tale a sleeping bag to pull over yourself and your set. I fell asleep in mine one time in -35 weather and woke up to a small 4x4 staring at me lol-must of been snoring. One thing though is big bucks tend to travel later in the A'M than alot of people think.
  20. I built a stand last year on the edge of a pasture I've watched bucks cross there for years-they walk down a brushy fenceline but rather then keep going straight into the bush they jump a fence and angle across a wide open hillside then enter bush right by this stand. All the time I was building it I kept thinking no deer will walk by thgis thing-well first day I hunted it last year had 3-130 class bucks within 5 yards of me. Well Ty told me he saw 6 bucks cross there the other day-this A'M I was still hunting in the bush and came out just north of this hill where the truck was parked-hopped in and thought I'd drive up on top for a look-drove right into 2 bucks just crossing by that stand. Parked and got out-sure enough was a 3rd buck walking down that fenceline-I watched him jump that fence and walk right by me themn pass under that treestand-a nice 135ish buck. I can't for the life of me figure out why they just don't keep going down that fenceline and straight into my pasture. If you could see it you'd never believe what they do-I guess I'll have to hunt that stand again but you right out in the open and all the time your thinking -no way a buck will come here but they do lol.
  21. Re: Bizarre Horn Boiling Incident It was a quite long shot thru the open poplar-I think he saw one bucks horns but as they were moving through the bush he shot the wrong buck-ohh well still got mulies next weekend lol. He did get 8 points for team 16 lol.
  22. Re: Get the vote out for Bush!!!!! In Canada it's GET OUT OF THE BUSH AND VOTE!!! LOL
  23. Re: Thompson Center I don't own one myself but I've guided several guys who shoot them-I guess if they are comfortable with taking a single shot on a hunt costing several thousand dollars that tells you something about the rifle-one is definately on my wish list.
  24. Re: Question for the cold weather hunters My kids start hunting with me around 6 and when it's cold we walk to keep warm-sit till they get cold-then walk some more-works for us but if your gonna sit them in a blind some kind of heat source would be nice.
  25. This guy from here is pretty exciteable and he shot a good bear one A'M so he was booting it to the coffee shop to brag. Well he got T-boned at an intersection and his bear was catapaulted onto the old folks home lawn-it was laying there spreadeagled on it's back. He's picked his bait barrel up too so there were decomposing beavers strewn all over the street-what a mess. When he finally showed us the bear my old neighbor tld him he'd killed bigger bear with a buggy whip lol.
