Thoughts on the definition of marriage
superguide replied to Shaun_300's topic in Canadian Outdoorsmen
Re: Thoughts on the definition of marriage My oldest daughter had to do a report on discrimination so she asked me what group to do it on I tols her 'happily married parents with 4 kids' we truly are getting to be the minority. -
Was just in at the SWF horn measuring what a bunch of huge bucks there must of been 30 whitetails from 160 to over 200. Even the lone antelope was a honest 15 incher-Saskman took some pics of the cooler deer there in our estimation lol. Hard to believe but that high Mulie only netted 1 4/8 more than Tyler's-now he's blaming his guide lol.

Re: SERM surveys!! Amen to that post about road hunting-we hunt mulies down by Gardiner Dam and I can't get over how wild the whitetails are they must get chased big time in whitetail season at least in 55 there's still lots of bush u can't drive around so the roadies can't chase them frm bluff to bluff or slough to slough. I can't wait to draw for antelope I was last year but couldn't go because of the BSE deal draining the bank account. It's amazing the quality of hunting we do have up here in spite of everything.

Re: Farming Sorry there Horst a pretty touchy subject with me-ranchers for the most part take better care of habitat than farmers because what is good for deer is pretty much good for cows. I have no use for guys that destroy habitat then want to hunt on my place. Saskman knows who I mean lol. Most farmers though if they got compensated would leave habitat-it all boils down to money unfortunately.
-
Re: Farming Our ranch has been in the family for almost 90 years and Saskman can attest to the habitat we've left. There is more species and numbers of wildlife on our place than ever before. But from a ranchers point of view-why should I put the party on for urban dwellers with no financial reward-we struggle money wise year after year but town folks expect to drive on my land to pick berries, hunt deer cut their x-mas tree-dump their garbage etc. I'm not an enviromental activist I'm am active enviromentalist-it is pretty hypocritical to work in town and criticize farmers and ranchers who are growing the food you eat. Bulldoze a few shopping malls-flatten the new cabella';s store and revert it to wildlife habitat if you are so serious about the enviroment or else PAY US FOR THE BEING GOOD STEWARDS OF THE LAND. Dang I can see why I stay out of the political forum.

Re: tiping your guide Guiding is like waitressing it doesn't pay that great but your tips are expected to make up the differance. If you can't afford a decent tip don't bother-my worst experience was we put a guy in a honey hole a 160 class buck there-he shot a 4x4 might score 75 that I had to drag out of a half mile of deadfall-he gave me 5 bucks-well that and the hunter's that spend every night bragging about their bank accounts that don't tip at all. Trust me if those guys come back guides don't get mad they get even. Most of the guys I guided were more friends than clients in my eyes so if they tipped or not wasn't a big deal but if your gonna talk the talk you better walk the walk.

Re: SERM surveys!! Anothere thing they could do is include a couple free doe tags in the youth package-most young hunters would gladly shoot a couple does. Saskman if they went to earn a buck you'd fill your doe tags in archery-I know a ranch by Meadow Lake you could hunt on lol. Maybe they should go to auxilliary wardens like the mounties did with constables if they can't police things right.
-
Re: SERM surveys!! Another thing they could do is make u turn in two cancelled doe tags before you get your "ONLY' buck tag. But it is getting ridiculous around here -the only does that get shot are the last few days when the road warriors get really desparate. Ty and I usually fill our doe tags first thing in either archery or muzzleloader. Another thing they could do is let nonresidants kill a few does my buddies from B.C. would of gladly took a doe along with their bucks. A little management here in Sask. and we could maybe raise the odd good buck. My Christmas wish-3 doe tags-a ban on road hunting-archery moose season on the central zones-bring it on Santa.
-
Re: punished????? I've hunted for 3 months and filled my tag the last 5 minutes the last day-we pass uip 40-50 different bucks some years-thats what makes it fun.

Four local boys got drafted into Triple A Midget from our little town last year-well the localbusinesses managed to get it set up that they'd play a game back here. It cost several thousand dollars-the Beardies Blackhawks have 3 of our kids and ended up winiing 5-0. Our local boys scored three of the goals-the old rink was rocking probably 1200 people there. I've watched these kids since they started to skate and it is nice to see them succeed after all the hard work-one boy is son of our best friends his grampa's chest was about to pop out of his coat last night. If any of you live near Worscheter Mass.and watch the IceCat's D.J. Kings little brother was one of the players. Well if you call a 15 year old standing 6' 3 weighing 205 little.

Re: Goose Hunter Killed by farmer What the farmer did was wrong but in actual fact a highpowered rifle does scare geese off fields way better than a shotgun or birdscare cannons-the farmers here do it all the time. In fact though what the farmer did was no more dangerous than roadhunters flinging lead at a deer running across or standing in a farm field -neither guy was sure what was behind him. It is just such a tragic deal for all involved.

Re: He Chit his Pants..... Boy alot of 'tude comin'thru over shooting dumb deer on a big hill I sure hope you don't use a rifle here in Sask. we just roll big rocks on them lol.

Re: Anyone see a warden? Its more like interrogatinmg you where the big ones are as most of them hunt too. A couple got caught sneaking onto some private land up here a few years back and shooting a monster 5x5. Used the old 'we didn't see the sign defence'. The landowner let them go as he didn't want the hassle or harassment of pressing it any furthur. Like Saskman says they aren't doing a very good job of catching the poachers up here.

Re: Gagger Monster Whitey (pics) Come on guys can't you tell he was soo excited to finally get a real trophy that he soiled himself. Note to mulie hunters' depends 'works wonders for your first whitetail of shooting size. I guess i'm bihuntual they both trip my trigger lol.
