What's up team? I'm just getting back from the U.P., been gone since early last Saturday. Bow hunted for a day and a half and seen about 12 deer, but couldn't get a clean shot on any of them. Gun season started Tuesday, didn't see much, some doe's but nothin close enough to shoot, and I didn't have a doe tag then. Since i only had a few hours today to hunt, I decided to get up early this morning and run up to town and get a doe tag before going out, sat in the blind for probably not even an hour and had two deer come in. Raised my gun up, but didn't think I had a clean shot so I let down, they ended up taking off in the other direction. About ten minutes later I caught movement through some trees about 80 yards away. Hit the can call a couple times and had a doe come right to me. She sat behind a tree for a minute but eventually stepped out and I pulled the trigger, was about a 25 yard shot. Seen her run off so I waited a bit and got out of the blind to look for signs of a hit. I couldn't find anything where she was standing so I started slowly walking in the direction she ran looking for blood, I went about 50 yards and couldn't find anything. As I was standing there thinking if I missed or not, and feeling a bit disappointed that I might have blown my chance, I looked down and about a foot to the left of me I seen blood. Started looking around and found a really good blood trail. It went on for another 40-50 yards and I thought I'd better stop and wait for a while in case I was pushing her. Sitting there waiting, I could see the blood trail, and spotted something through all the downed trees. I walked over and there she was, a pretty decent size doe. We ended up bring home 5 deer between the 3 of us. I am beat from the long drive and am heading to bed, here is a pic I took of in the woods with my phone, I'll hopefully get here entered tomorrow. -
Did you guys click the link or read the post? He entered a contest with the photo of his dog he posted. The winner gets seat covers. I "Liked" it for ya _MD_, great picture.

WOOHOO...The day is finally here! Running out to pick up some last minute things, filling up the truck and then loading up. Heading up to the U.P. at around 3am. I get a little bit of cell service when out in the woods, I'll try and post updates and maybe some pictures. -
I shoot open sights with my muzzleloader, so the closer the better. I have taken one deer with it at around 65 yards, the rest have been at around 20-25 yards.

I doubt I'll get out again until we are up north on Saturday. Right now it is pouring rain outside. If it was just a little bit I might have gone out, but it's coming down good. Tomorrow I have class so no go there, then Friday I'll be spending all day getting things ready, packing up the truck and going to bed early so I can get up at 2-3am and start our 7-8 hour trip. -
Nice yooper buck! Congrats. Only a few more days and we'll be heading up to Stephenson for the gun opener next week.

Made out tonight but didn't see anything. I am using my climber but I need to put my ladder stand out there. Maybe tomorrow afternoon. It was windy, but it was fun to get out. -
It's that time of year again...don't forget

Well, I thought I was good after I posted this last night. Changed all the clocks I could, but my phone clock does it automatically. I had set the alarm on the phone for 6am so I could get up and hunt out back, well it went off when the phone said it was 6, but it was actually already 7 and the sun was up. Somehow it changed form the eastern time zone to central, so it went back 2 hours instead of just one.:bang: -

Well this stinks!!! I set my alarm on my phone for 6am, figured I'd be out at around 6:20 giving me plenty of time to set up before daylight, since I am hunting in my back yard. Well the alarm went off, only problem is it was actually 7am!!! Something was wrong with the time zone setting in my phone, it was telling my I was in the central time zone when I am in the eastern. Pretty bummed about that, after the pictures I got and seeing that buck yesterday, I was excited to be out there. -
to change the clocks tonight! Almost slipped my mind, didn't remember until I was checking to see what time the sun was coming up in the morning.

Well I couldn't wait and had to check the cam. I got a few pics of him this morning like I thought, these are the best of the group. He looked bigger when we seen him in the field, guess I'll have to try and get him on the ground to see It's definitely a different deer than what I posted before. Finally got daytime pics of him, and I also got some daytime pics of a few does too! -

Getting even more pumped now. I said before I haven't had a picture on my cams out back that was in the day time. Well I think I might have gotten one this morning. I woke up, looked out my window into the field and seen what I THOUGHT was the deer pictured above. Got a long look at him and I am convinced it is a different BIGGER buck. Think I'll be hunting it tonight and definitely the mornings from now until we leave for camp next Saturday. I'm going to head out back and check the camera in a few hours to see if he went by it, from the direction he was walking when I first seen him, its a pretty good chance he did. -
I always wear them, and if I'm with someone who is gutting their deer, I ask if they want them. I where the shoulder length ones with rubber gloves over them.

Any Ameristep blind users use this gun rest in their hub style blind?? There are two versions. I think this is the older model: And this is the new model: Looking for some reviews on either of these, Sportsman's guide has the old one for $5 and Natchez has the new one for $15, these are the cheapest I can find them on the internet.

The weather is getting colder, and the deer are getting bigger. Went out back to check the camera, found this guy on there. Biggest buck I have seen back there. Only thing now is to get him to show himself during the day, hopefully with the rut coming on he'll slip up. Only about a week left until we head to the U.P. Decided to leave a day earlier than we planned and come home a day later, so we should have plenty of time in the woods. I am hoping this guy is still around, or at least one of this brothers or dad or grandpa -

Congrats sskybnd and the one! I haven't had much time to get out lately. Have a full time school scheduale during the week, then it seems like we have had some sort of family function going on every single weekend! In less than two weeks I'll be sitting in a blind in the U.P. waiting for something to walk by, I love this time of year. -
Good luck Tim!

Taking off door panels
Michiganbowhunter_SQ2 replied to Michiganbowhunter_SQ2's topic in Vehicles and Hunting Transportation
Thanks Shaun. We ended up getting it off without a problem. Had planned on using some cheap aftermarket speakers, until we got in there and realized the factory ones are made with some sort of big bracket. Got a decent deal on one though from the dealership down the road though. -
The door speakers on right side of the truck went out (2007 GMC Sierra crew cab). I plan on installing new ones myself, since I plan on not spending a whole lot, and installation would cost more than the speakers. Any tips on how to get the panels off without messing anything (like the clips inside) up?

Really don't keep track. Usually not really much until our deer camp trip rolls around in November.

Darn nice deer. Congrats Tim!! -
Here is a pretty neat time lapse video from someone here in Michigan. I have seen them a few times in the past when visiting a friend who used to live in the upper peninsula.

Awesome. Good block by #18 about 6 seconds into the second video. Got yourself a heck of a ball player there Tom.
