Doesn't bother me to do away with the 2nd gun weekend but not sure I like the early muzzleloader season. It'll probably just make deer more nocturnal earlier in the season and screw up bow hunting, guess we'll find out. I usually fill my antler less permits every year with the bow. My guess is that some landowners who bow hunt will just make that weekend off limits. The 1/2 hour after is a good change as we won't have to leave the stand right at prime time. I do like the county bag limit change as the three counties I generally hunt in were in the same zone most years. It'll be nice to not have to worry about not having enough tags if the landowners start complaining about not enough deer being taken like they did this year. I was fortunate to limit out this year, so I did what I could to help.

Remington 1187 with factory bead sights is all I use... usually camo it up with gun tape just before season.

same story around here... even 22lr ammo is impossible to find.

I bought some from walmart a couple winters ago on clearance... I kept it in my shop which generally stays cool and dry. It was fine the following winter.

In the UP Michigan, I use a savage 30-06 as my choice. No rifle here in Ohio but my 20gauge encore is my gun of choice for gun law. I'll be switching the barrel in a couple weeks for muzzle season.

I use Lightfields 3" mags out of my Encore 20 gauge barrel... been a great combo for me and much more consistent than the hornaday sts sabots I was using.

Dad gut shot his buck last year with a crossbow. We gave him around 4 hours before starting the search but would have gave it longer if the farmer hadn't started cutting the corn it ran into. Long story short, we kicked the buck up 7 times before finally getting another arrow in him. We didn't have a choice to keep pushing him as we had to get him out of the corn or loose the blood for good. The buck would only run 80-100 yards and lie down. The final shot was 9 hours after dad hit it that morning.

Just seen a 2 year old with a doe on the way home from lunch... I will be out tonight and have tomorrow through Monday off work. I would think the next week or so should be hot.

we have a lot of stands in thorn trees around here only because they are the most available. I usually go out late summer with the machete or hand saw and cut them out of the way.

I generally freezer wrap and vacuum seal... I'm sure it would be good for a couple years but we usually have most ate up within a year.

action has been slow around the house but did shoot a doe a couple weeks ago. I've only seen small bucks but the big buck sign is there. The other property I hunt in Crawford county, the bucks were moving last weekend but I can only make it over there on weekends. I have several vacation days scheduled the next couple weeks, so hopefully the big bucks getting moving with cooler temps on the way.

About the only method I use right now is I run around the house after the wife and stepdaughter every ten minutes singing Every Light in the House is on by Trace Adkins. Doesn't matter how much I complain about leaving lights on so I've given up. I'd like to get an add on wood stove for the furnace but keep putting it off. I have a small house and run through 600-800 gallons of propane with the thermostat set at 68 which isn't too bad. The back master bedroom stays cooler than the rest of the house so we leave doors shut and run a space heater overnight (because of the wife). Our water comes from a well so not much I can do there.

$3.21 here... I guess since the price of gas has dropped 60 cents in the last couple weeks, that would mean the economy is getting worse according to Obamanomics.

I had a pretty good sit today... I had a decent buck at 100 yards shadowing a doe across a field and a couple more bucks, one being a definite shooter, with noses to the ground off in the distance. Around 4:30 this afternoon, a nice 10 point came by the stand but hoping he makes it another year. I've heard several reports of mature bucks hanging with does. how are things in your neck of the woods?

I've taken my 10 year old stepdaughter out a couple times turkey hunting and last weekend for her first deer hunt until we got rained out. She passed her hunter safety of few weeks ago so hoping to find a crossbow for next year. She's a little intimidated by guns but wants to bow hunt.
