If that is the 3 1/2" 12 ga Do not shoot slugs in it. Browning 3 1/2" 12's are overbored, there is a risk slugs can get jammed in the bore.

You had a big part in making it happen. Thanks.

Pretty darn cool

Just had some skin cancer removed. Basal cell carcinoma. They got it all. It's healing nicely. It was a little one but they still have to dig pretty deep. Don't ignore those suspicious spots or you will be sorry. My wife made me go to the doctor I was certain it would be nothing. I was absolutely wrong.

And Buckee is back

I missed hunting last season because I moved and didn't have a place to go. This year I got in a club and it is challenging but has some great deer on it. I spied this guy peeking from a thicket at the food plot. Couldn't see his whole head and he only gave me a frontal shot at 120 yards. That was enough for me to send a 180gr Accubond out of my 30 06 right into his heart. He flipped and was DRT.I was very surprised to find he was missing most of his left antler. He had also lost his g3 on his right side. He weighed 153 lbs. For sure a freezer trophy! He got busted up fighting. I would like to find the one that whopped him.

Sounds like a primer for "Re-introduction" just like was done with wolves.

Merry Christmas everyone!

Rifled bore or smooth? Saboted slugs are for rifled bores only. If it's rifled I'd try some Lightfield Commanders. Kinda like shooting any other gun and load. Gotta try a few loads see what the gun likes best.

Be safe Steve and Connie!

They are all hard horned here in South Carolina by first week of September.

Looks like you had a great time! I'm not surprised. It's an awesome place. My wife and I really enjoyed our time with Steve and Connie. I've been real busy lately. The moving van is coming Tuesday.

Her contract was terminated due to discrimination it's blatently pure and simple. There are probably lawyers beating down her door right now to sue Loreal and the anti-hunting organizations. As far as her being able to get another contract easily I would wonder. Such a public blacklisting could ruin her chances for life.

19-year-old girl from Cleburne, Texas, under fire from animal rights activist

What if you could sell a coyote hunt for $6000? Would you tolerate a couple lost calves and not try to kill every coyote you saw? That's how leopard hunting works in Africa. The farmers tolerate the leopards because selling a hunt or two more than makes up for the losses. Otherwise they would be on a mission to completely exterminate them. -

Boddington did another interview today. The link hasn't shown up yet. There are hundreds of thousands of acres of land with thousands and thousands of animals on them that are paid for 100% by hunters. I've been to some of these places. They are real. -
Good luck! Deep cycle 6V batteries are tough to find and even tougher to find inexpensively. I'd be looking very seriously at making the conversion to three 12v Deep Cycles.

If I had decided I couldn't hunt Africa until after I had hunted everything I wanted to hunt in North America first (which I still haven't), I would never have gone the first time. The way things worked out, my opportunities to go to Africa came up first. I would have been foolish to pass them up. No regrets. Keep an open mind. Take the opportunities when you get them or all you will have is pipe dreams.

Packages can be had for about $4000-4500 for a 7 day hunt. The variable is how many and what kind of animals you can get under that package. I could have shot an enormous Sable but it was outside the limits of trophy fees included in my package. I could have shot two smaller less expensive antelope in my package but chose to trade them both for the black wildebeast. I'm not sorry I did. Some of the cheaper packages are not good deals and some are great deals. Going with a group really leverages the deal in your favor.

It was a great time Steve. Honestly, the Eastern Cape of South Africa is so similar to Wyoming I kept expecting to see you show up at any time! Springbok act a lot like pronghorn and I couldn't help but keep remembering the Bucks for Buckee hunt.

This guy knew who did it and why he did it. He was cleaning up because he didn't know about the camera and wanted to be able to deny he had tripped the trap. I'm frankly amazed at the comments under the video that some folks believe since the previous owner gave him permission to hunt the property for 10 years the new owner must be legally bound to extend the same courtesy. Really? What law book is that BS in?

I have taken 12 different species of African animal. I could take 12 more different species and still not have them all! The variety is simply mind boggling. It's likely I never will get them all. I have been to three different places. All were absolutely excellent. The first trip I got at a fundraiser auction that pretty much no one bid on ($750 for a 10 day trip). The second trip I won on facebook. This trip was a carefully organized group hunt that got us deeply discounted rates from the outfitter and the airline. I can't reveal the price tag but I can honestly say it cost significantly less than a guided elk hunt. And I got FOUR animals instead of a chance at just one. We took three years to save, plan and organize this trip. If I do ever return, I will be going with a group again to cut costs. South Africa is a BIG country. This place was literally more than 700 miles south of where I went the first time. Go 700 miles north or south in this country and the terrain and animals change. Same thing there. I know enough outfitters and guides over there now that I will never have to stress about having a good hunt there ever. I know the drill. I know what you need. I even speak some Afrikaans. Get a group of about six hunters together I'll get you a good deal. Heck, I might even join you.

It's not just better than the wild game! If it didn't take a 12ft fence to contain Eland we would be eating them instead of beef.

The whole story is here on another forum. I would have posted it here but this forum software crops the pictures strangely and it just doesn't look right. http://forums.huntingresource.com/topic/9354-back-from-eastern-cape-south-africa/
