  1. Re: Feeders!!! Ya or Nah!! Baiting any game animal especially Deer & Wild Turkey is unethical. It should be banned! IN MY OPINION!
  2. Re: reloading [ QUOTE ] Does anyone here reload? [/ QUOTE ] Yes, for about 40 years.
  3. Re: If you had a grand to spend... I already spent a "grand" or more on several Rifles.
  4. Re: reloading? You would save "some" money by reloading shotgun shells. The compondents have gone up in price recently, but you can still save. The only shotgun shell I ever reloaded was the .410 3" shell. I had an old "Lee Loader" and wish I still had it! Lee should resume making these as they were cheap and easy to use.
  5. Re: After Market Sights ?????? You might consider using a shotgun scope, or peep sight. Otherwise you can replace your open-sights with some from Williams Gunsight Company.
  6. Re: REMINGTON BUCKHAMMERS RESULTS (PICS) [ QUOTE ] 1 3/8 oz? good lord thats a huge slug. Do they make 'em in anything smaller? [/ QUOTE ] I use 20 gauge 2 3/4" Buckhammers in my Browning Gold, and they shoot fine. The other sabot loaded ammo like Winchester's Supreme Gold, I feel with it's 260 grain bullet if too small to put a deer down in it's tracks. I feel the bullet it too hard for good expansion in a 20 gauge. I did shoot, however, a deer several years ago with a 12 gauge Winchester Supreme load and it performed quite well but again the buck traveled 30 yards before going down. The 12 ga. sabot bullet is .50 cal. while the 20 is a .45 cal. sabot. When using a shotgun slug I like the slug to be at least 1 oz. in weight with a BIG bullet!
  7. Re: Mauser Action? Your mauser action is a model 98. I had a Parker-Hale Model 1000 rifle that looked almost like the one you pictured, it also in .243. Very good rifle!
  8. Re: huntings losing its focus Personally, I'd never hunt over baited areas. I believe in "fair Chase" hunting of any game.

Re: colon cancer Prayers, sent from Indiana, for your Dad's recovery.
  10. Re: what is the best gun out there [ QUOTE ] Krieghoff K80, Perazzi MX2000, Kolar, Holland and Holland and some others are top end guns. They can be ordered built to the shooters style, build, and size. These are the Rolls Royce of shotguns. Remington, Winchester, Browning, are more like the Fords and Chevys of shotguns. They are decent quality and will get the job done 99% of the time, but they are not hand made by precision craftsmen. [/ QUOTE ] I'd like to own a shotgun like Dick Cheney's. I believe it is a 28 gauge Perazzi?
  11. Re: what is the best gun out there "Highend" $$....Browning, I own a Growning Gold Deer Hunter in 20 gauge that I like very much. "Lowend:$$....Also have a Stoeger Uplander S/S in .410 3" that I also like. Didn't cost an arm & leg to buy, and is a very good shotgun.
  12. Re: 6mm-06 [ QUOTE ] my girlfriends grandpa is giving me a 6mm-06 he has customized anyone heard of this? Its a Mark 4 action with monster bull barrel if i had to gues id say 1.5 inch and wieghs about 14 lbs. [/ QUOTE ] I've heard or it and it is in the same power range as a .240 Weatherby Mag.
  13. Re: Shells I use either Super-X or Federal, in my .410, 12, and 20 gauge shotguns. also use some Remington brand shotgun shells.
  14. Re: Thompson Center Shockwave Sabots any good? I've never tried T/c shockwaves, but have not heard anything bad against them. Personally I use their High Pressure Sabots with .452" Hornady 250 grain XTP bullets in my Black Diamond.
  15. Re: new to me scope I got a Redfield 3 to 9 power lowprofile scope too. Got it on my Ruger Model 77 MKII in .270! It's their wideview scope.
  16. Re: .17\'s [ QUOTE ] CCI makes a 20 grain .17 HMR FMJ now. I know it's way less destructive on potatoes and generic pop. My uncle did say that you should shoot small game in the head no matter what caliber you are using. [/ QUOTE ] I might be wrong on this, but I think CCI stop making the .17 rimfires with FMJ bullets. To be honest I've never seeen them for sale.
  17. Re: .17\'s Any of the .17 Rimfires are just a little too destructive on Small Game intended for the table. I'd stick to the .22 LR, as it is much cheaper, will be around forever, and far less destructive than the .17's. Just my opinion though.
  18. Re: Gun Selections Winchester 94210 Lever in .410. Already have a Browning Gold in 20 gauge.
  19. Re: Gun Selections Charles Daly Superior in .22 Hornet.
  20. Re: My new deer rifle (pics) Nice Rifle, Andy!! As for loads for the .308, I personally use 150 grain Hornady or Speer Soft points and 44.0 grains of IMR-4064 powder. You really need to get a loading manual and work-up a safe and accurate load for your Winchester M-88.
  21. Re: Easy Tick Removal I just spray a little Off on them, and it kills them, they just fall off.
  22. Re: Woodchuck hunting.... Great Day I seldom see any Woodchucks (Groundhogs), like I did in past years. The last one I shot was last summer @ 25 yards. He was digging under our back barn. I've seen only two so far this year and haven't seen them lately.

  24. Re: .22\'s Most if not all good .22 Rifles run over $200. You might consider buying a used .22 at the price you want to spend ($175). Maybe a used Ruger 10/22?
  25. Re: Buck with velvet I also saw a Buck in velvet yesterday afternoon in the back of my property.
