I shot this buck with my bow last Thursday. He's no monster by any means but a good 3 1/2 year old around here. He's an 8pt with a couple kickers. I had a small buck chase a couple does around before he came in. It was raining and I didn't hear him coming. He just popped up out of no where and tried to sneek behind me. I shot him quartering away at 20 yards and he went maybe 100 yards and piled up. This might be the earliest in Oct. I've ever taken a decent buck!
Hey guys... we will have some more points today. I shot a decent buck yesterday evening but it was raining so I didn't get the best pictures. It's still raining but at least I'll have the light of day for pics. I will get them up later. I think I can get 9points out of him. He's a main frame 8 with a couple stickers.
I screwed up somehow Sat. afternoon and missed a doe under my feet. Not sure how I managed to do that but I did. No worries. That property is littered with does. This afternoon, we are going after the buck that's been seen crossing the road. I actually saw one bedded by the road when I was there yesterday. It was a nice 8pt. He was just across from my stand. Too bad we can't hunt on Sunday's here in VA! I'll try and take him out this evening!!!
I've hunted every evening this week with few deer sightings. I'll be hunting a different property this weekend so maybe my luck will change. The place I'm going a guy has seen a nice 8pt pr 10pt cross the same spot on this road 3 times. I'm going to set up on him tomorrow afternoon and hope to seal the deal. We'll see.
Had a fawn come to my stand in the morning and had 2 bucks fighting by my stand at dark. One was young but the other was a 3 1/2 year old but is only a spike. He's also about 16" wide. He's just main beams and a little crab claw on his right side. I thought about shooting him when he went under my stand but I let him walk. He may not be so lucky next time.
BTW.. went to hang a stand yesterday and had a Copperhead hanging on the top step of my climbing sticks. I've never seen a snake 20' up a tree. I also killed another one when I went back to the trail. Gosh I hate snakes!!!
WTG Slash! Nice slick!
Our season starts Saturday. I have a few bucks scoped out on a couple properties. I watched 3 bucks come into a food plot last night that if they remain on that pattern I should get a crack at one Saturday. Wind is suppose to be perfect so we'll see. I can't wait to get in a tree!!!
The guys are racing different under the new system. You can't go by the lead Tony had before the Chase. Some of the teams try different stuff before the Chase once they feel confident that they're in. If we still had the old rules Tony may not have that big of a lead because Johnson and the others would have taken a different approach to each race before now. I didn't like it at first but it's the same rules for everyone and I kind of like it now. Definately makes it more exciting to keep up with. If Stewart had a 300 point lead and we were still under the old system not many people would keep up with it the rest of the year (except the Stewart fans which I'm not one of! ).
I think it will take Brady some time to get back in his rythem. May take a few more weeks though. He doesn't seem real comfortable yet! I wouldn't say they are done... yet!
I like Rome. I can deal with Cowherd some. Patrick is decent but I hate when he interviews somebody. He tries like heck to make them say something contraversial. When I think about it though... I don't really like Patrick much.
All the Chasers start over with 5,000 points. They get a bonus of 10 points for every race they win. Mark had 4 wins so he starts with 5,040 points. Stewart had 3 wins so he started with 5,030. That's why Mark started the Chase in 1st.
