  1. That does sound good...had I not been outsmarted by the TOM's this past spring, I'd be able to tell you! But I will remember it for next season. It was good eating folks, people coming and going would ask about the food and we'd tell them all, some tried it and loved it...some wouldn't try it because it was venison.
  2. Good shot! That's a trophy of a different kind, but still a trophy, no less. Good job.
  3. He is a dandy! True giant, and what others (Including myself!) are still hunting for. Glad to see you get him, and it's nice to read the excitement and joy that you're showing. Way to go, that's what all the hard work and preparation are for. Just awesome.
  4. Sorry, Did you get it?! I will make sure you're on the next one!
  5. Yep, sadly it's the last of the tenderloins from her...this has went so fast!
  6. Oh, I got you. I wondered if Realtree was doing something different where they show 'new/recent posts' or something. You had me looking! Good deal, yep that is as recent as it gets for me...grilled and enjoyed the food and watched football this weekend. Thanks GWS.
  7. In my truck I have a Ricky Skaggs CD, just love that music...I really like having that on going to and coming from a hunt.
  8. This weekend I did some tailgating with some friends, had a great time, enjoyed plenty of great football, it was a huge success. I had marinated some of the fresh tenderloins overnight and then wrapped them each in bacon & glazed this with honey. Threw 'em on the grill and cooked SLOW, flipped them once, and after a few more minutes of slow cooking they were ready. I have them on foil so the juices and honey would stay with them, rather than drip and it was so good. They were perfect for popping, delicious, and they went FAST! Definitely a favorite and I will be doing this a lot more. They had a real nice honey-bbq flavor. Just another way to reap the rewards of a successful hunt.
  9. I'm very impressed, that is an extreme trophy there!! Taken with a bow on top of that! WOW. Way to go to you to Strut10, pasing it on and keeping the sport growing. Again...impressed.
  10. Yes, give her a good congrats, great buck. Glad to see others appreciating the stories as well. Welcome to the forums.
  11. After looking again, I have to agree...turkey. I was thinking the turkey was walking to the right...and I couldn't see it. Looked again, and I see now it looks to be walking to the left. Yes, run the dog off, I think it's a turkey.
  12. ^ And Celebrities! Don't believe me?, 'ol Randy will be bumpin' elbows with Jimmy Kimmell Live, come October 22nd! Just giving you a hard time Randy! :clown:
  13. I'm glad to welcome my good friend and hunting buddy 'Devildog' to the forums. This guy is a heck of a guy, dedicated hunter, and a good addition to this site. In a few weeks we'll be hunting together, so I'm sure more than a few stories will come from that. Last year we were squirrel hunting and I witnessed him make a 60 yard shot w/ a shotgun that rolled a squirrel. And I'm still jealous of the 8 point buck that he took a few years before. Devildog - good guy, glad to see him on here.
  14. Nice buck Devildog...looks like a 7 to me. It is easiest to upload the photos to photobucket.com or another site and then just paste the "[ing]http://xxxxx.jpg[/ing]" onto the forums. For more help, see the sticky "How to post photos..."
  15. Looks like a black dog w/ a white-tipped tail.
  16. Good deal Randy, I marked my calendar. Looking forward to it.
  17. Does look good, I'm planning on trying this this weekend...will let you know. Thanks for sharing.
  18. Easiest way to say it, I'm very impressed. That's some good work you've done there, I certainly hope it shoots better for you. Let us know.
  19. I decided to chance it a few years back and buy a BSA 3x9x40 scope for my .22 WMR. I believe it costs 39 dollars. I have been nothing but pleased with it, it is very clear and holds zero well. I have hunted in all types of weather, including one -6 degrees hunt last winter...and it hasn't fogged or let me down. I know it will not last as one of the more expensive brands, but for a .22, I chanced it.
  20. You will get a lot of recommendations for the Ruger 10/22, and it is a great gun that has a very strong following. My grandfather has an old carbine and it still performs great. I also would recommend the Marlin Model 60, it's a dandy too at an affordable price. I have had mine for about 4 years now and no complaints at all. Both are excellent guns, you won't be disappointed.
  21. I'm torn between 2 rifles...each time I've gotten ready to decide I have swapped back. Let's just say it's my Remington 700 .308.
  22. That's the way to do it! Glad to see the doe down, fills the freezer. I'm becoming REAL fond of those early-season deer steaks!
  23. Great buck, any day. Glad to see the success!
