  1. Way to go! I got my first bow buck this year as well, quite a feeling. Congrats.
  2. +1! Great buck, and 2 big 'ol slicks. Good job, nothing to be upset about w/ him!
  3. WTG! You should be VERY proud of yourself, that's quite an achievement.
  4. The T/C Omega is a great gun, but I wouldn't neccesarily say that you have to stick to this gun. I'd say, go to a local shop and look at a few different types. I looked around quite a bit and found an inline as my first that was cheaper than your price range and I love it. Still have it...shoots great, fits me well. So, to answer your question, I'd shop around.
  5. I'm in!! Someone's getting a freeze-dried squirrel tails!! lol
  6. Wow, that one is great! Good shooting, those corn fields have yielded a pretty good harvest for you all this year! You look to be more pleased w/ this buck than the coyote earlier! Great deer, congrats.
  7. Care to explain a little more detail? You shot her and hit her, but broke her shoulder? What kind of blood did you find? After you shot, how long did it take you to get out of the stand and follow up?
  8. Those are great pics, thanks for sharing.
  9. That's great, glad to see the success. Sounds like you've found a good spot. Congrats on the first buck with the bow...I know how exciting it is too, I took my first buck with a bow on Thursday. Pretty exciting taking a buck with archery tackle! WTG
  10. I'm a big fan of the Remington 700 line, and the ADL is what started it for me. I got one of these rifles 11 years ago, chambered in .308. I still have it and love it. I have no complaints at all:
  11. I went to the sporting goods store recently and while there decided to pickup one of these Flextone 'Buck Collector' deer calls. I had seen the marketing and videos about it on TV, and for 15 dollars decided to buy one. I like it because you can make several different calls without changing any O-Rings or reeds, instead you just press the 'buttons' molded into the plastic. This past week I hunted a lot with it and the deer were very receptive to calls. I grunted in several does and bleated in a nice little fork horn buck. This is a great product, and I wanted to share. The temps were around 28 degrees every morning and didn't get up above 32 until mid-morning, and this call never once froze up like other grunt tubes have. I would highly recommend this call.
  12. By any chance is the 'Flextone' that you're talking about, the new Bone Collector 'Whole Herd' call? I picked up one of these the other day and really like it, grunted and bleated in a few deer this past week with it.
  13. WOW! Great buck, that 4th picture really shows the body size. Way to put the smack down, great looking deer.
  14. Heck of a great buck, with archery tackle on top of it! Great job. Glad to see it.
  15. Yes, Prayers on the way brother. Hang in there, and thanks for the updates.
  16. > > > > > > > > > > > > > I posted this in the blog, but also wanted to throw it in the lounge...it has a few parts that you may enjoy. I took a few days off work (Thursday & Friday) and planned on bow hunting hard. The weather looked great, the rut activity was supposedly heating up, so I was looking forward to some bow hunting. I had told myself I was going to wait on a buck, as I have only taken does to this point with my bow. First off, Wednesday night my mother had made some great dinner. The best part was the fresh cornbread...real white cornbread, not that pansy yellow corn-cake that people try to smuggle into the state. My Grandpa Martin first showed me this little trick and it’s pretty darn good…anyone else ever do this? Thursday morning, I was sitting in a stand before daylight and I could already hear deer moving. It was 29 degrees, no wind, and a very heavy frost, so it was easy to hear any movement. The moon was so full and bright that I didn't even need my flashlight as I was getting setup. Shortly after daylight I had already seen a few deer walking through the field I was beside. At around 8:00 AM I saw a small fork horn buck coming towards me about 60 yards away, but he skirted around me and into the field. I bleated towards him and he immediately looked back, then went back to feeding. I bleated again and he turned and began coming straight towards me, but never came within 40 yards. I decided to pass. By 10:30 AM, the wind was starting to pickup, so I decided to take an early lunch and hopefully the wind would lay down and I could hit a stand again around noon. Lunch in the hunting camper was interesting. Normally we pull out the stove and make soups, hotdogs, or anything real good, but I was in a hurry. I didn't want to miss too much prime hunting time. So.... And it was good. Who doesn’t like potted meat?! At 10:30 AM to top it off. Mechanically separated chicken and beef tripe at its finest! As I was eating lunch, I saw 2 deer cross the field, so even though the wind was up, I knew activity was still fine. After a quick lunch, I geared up and hit a different stand, but still bordering a field. I sat for awhile, grunting occasionally even though the wind. It wasn't even noon yet, when the wind started slacking and I heard a deer coming in behind me. Another little fork horn was walking through the woods behind me. He stopped and was trying to smell the wind and even turned broadside. When he did this, a tree hid his head and neck, so I grabbed my bow off the hanger and drew. He even gave me a slighly quartering away shot, which I took. I heard the arrow hit him hard and I thought I could hear blood hitting the leaves as he went straight down the hill. I was so pumped up to have made a good shot on a buck. I could see my arrow w/ bright blood all over it and the blood trail starting. Even though everything looked good, I still decided to walk out, head to camp and lose some of the layers, and give him time...just in case. After a few hours, I snuck back in, followed the blood trail, and could see his white belly down in a creekbed. He had crashed at the bottom of the hill, probably 100 yards away! He isn't the biggest buck in the woods, but he is my first buck with a bow! I took him with my PSE Firestorm X bow. After field dressing him, I found I took out both lungs. The Muzzy MX3 100gr broad head did it's job and I couldn't be happier!
  17. Here an upgrade from my doe... Rem308 Date of Harvest: 11/5/09 4 point buck (BOW) Team #9 Team Tagged Out
  18. Hey Team, I took Thursday & Friday off work and headed to the farm...the rut is in in WV and the bucks were chasing. I saw several bucks but only had this one cruise through in range. He isn't the biggest, but he is my first buck with a bow. He's a 4 pointer.
  19. Thanks folks, I'm really pleased to finally have gotten a buck with the bow. I have been fortunate to take a few does, but waiting and trying to make everything work out on a buck is pretty dang exciting. I won't forget this one.
  20. I saw the hoss of a buck you took...that's impressive. I'm getting there! Thanks.

  22. > > > > > > > > > This morning was a great morning, bucks were pushing does and activity was constant. I was in my stand early and as it started breaking daylight I could already hear footsteps in the frosted leaves. I had several does feed through from different directions and saw a small fork horn buck cruise through around 9:00 AM. I grunted a few times and turned him back from the field he was in and he came within 40 yards of my tree. Great morning. I kept grunting occasionally throughout the morning. Finally I heard something coming through and this small buck was sneaking in from behind. He turned and was sniffing the air and gave me a good quartering away shot. The Muzzy MX3 did it's job, took out the lungs and he ran off and crashed. I wasn't 100% about the shot, so I gave him a few hours, but when I did trail him, he'd crashed in a creek bed about 100 yards away. My first archery buck, & to say I am pleased is an understatement. He isn't the biggest buck in the woods, but certainly got my blood boiling. What a great hunt.
  23. Great deer! that rack has some character, great job.
  24. She is a beut! Great looking rifle, can't wait to see more pics of how it shoots.
