  1. I agree with Dan, saw a little activity over the weekend, but nothing too hot and heavy yet. Sunday I did see a small buck (couldn't make out his rack from the distance) dogging a doe across a field. This recent cold snap should really make the hunting great at the end of this week. I'm travelling to the south-east corner of the state this Wednesday to hunt Thursday - Saturday. Good luck, hope you bag a bruiser.
  2. That's a great way to up our team score! Great buck, a real trophy!
  3. Way to go! That's a bruiser for sure, and great to see that you got him. Well done!
  4. Very good job, pretty neat how you mixed your profession in w/ it. I definitely like high-visibility wraps.
  5. Very nice! I like the looks of that...definitely got me thinking. Thanks Dakota,
  6. Can't wait to see the results, keep us updated. Hope you roll a BIG one (well, as big as they can be for Ohio). I still wonder if Chris' brute from last year may have been a transplant?!
  7. Any idea where you could find a .32 caliber ML? I read an article a while back about hunting them w/ black powder, sounded really fun. Can you shoot shot through a regular .50 cal ML? (Mine has the rifled barrel, so this probably would scatter the shot quick.)
  8. You got it, thanks for the invite. Sounds like we're having a Genuine Realtree Forum Squack Hunt! Semper Fi!
  9. NICE! That's the way to do it. Good shooting, I know how twitchy those little buggers can be.
  10. Thanks DD, we need to hit the woods soon.
  11. Snuck out this evening for a little squirrel hunting...the rains stopped and wind laid down. I saw several but was only able to come away with these two: I wish I'd gotten a better pic out in the woods because the leaves were real pretty, but I was too busy running and gunning trying to get a few more before dark.
  12. You did the right thing by ending the suffering. I remember the first that you took earlier with the bow...don't beat yourself up at all...you put a heck of a shot on a coyote, you did the right thing, and I would have tried the exact same.
  13. That is a dandy buck, and a great FIRST one at that. Good job to you both, glad it worked out so well.
  14. Oh man, my stomach is hurting! Good grief that made me laugh.

    doe #3

Good job Slash, that's another great doe. I use Muzzy 100 gr MX3's, and am really pleased. Glad to see you like them as well. WTG!
  16. I decided to carve one more, printed off a template and let my wife chose her favorite...the templates are harder than I thought...
  17. I didn't think you'd mind. WTG on a successful hunt.
  18. Thanks jm, I have read the same advice. I appreciate it.
  19. I shot a doe earlier this season that ran up a pretty steep hill and then expired near the top...she ran quickly up the hill and out of my sight...but ended up being dead very close by. I also have always thought that they will not run up a hill, but she sure did. It makes it tough, especially when the blood trail stops.
  20. Great job Ruth! Any taken with the bow is a true trophy, you should be proud. Congrats again.
  21. After reading some of the chapters that Bluelk wrote, and hearing several stories of the man, I think we could write and write and never answer the original question. Quite a man, great for the sport, and a true outdoorsman. They just don't make 'em like that anymore.
  22. I have an opprotunity to pick one of these up from a friend, used of course. I know that it's LNIB, he shot it a few times but has decided to move it now. I like the looks of it, I like the feel of it, but being his, I never really dug into it that much. Well now he's offering it to me pretty cheap, and I want to ask for any opinions? I'm looking online at a few reviews and I see good stuff, but I'd definitely rather hear some first hand accounts if anyone has anything. So what do you say, Remington Genesis ML...good gun?
